Couldn't possibly be worse than the band that opened the one time I saw them like 10 years ago. A few songs into their set, the guitars stopped working, and they couldn't fix it, so they just kept going. The singer said "Imagine this song with guitar!" 🤣

Im just amazed no kodou or the final in there. Its pretty much the entire TIW album with 3 extra songs.
 
I gave that opening band a listen BYSTS or something like that and fuck that is horrible. I thought The Birthday Massacre was the worst opener I've seen with them but these guys top that

i don't hate it but i don't love it either. I'm still just glad to hear his voice again plus he is screaming/growling mildly so i'm still hopeful for a DespairsRay reunion again.

I don't revisit Hotarubi on its own ever, but I've always liked it when I listen to Macabre from front to back. Toshiya's got some great bass lines.
 
Side note, I really wish I could've seen them during their Macabre tour aesthetic back in the earl 2000's. It's gotta be my favorite look from the band.
 
 

But who actually considers "Hotarubi" legendary? I haven't heard a fan say "damn, I was spinning some 'Hotarubi' the other day and those firefly buzzes spoke to me spiritually". It's just...okay to me. On an album from an era with no shortage of ballads to pick, "Hotarubi" doesn't come to mind first. And "Zakuro" is so boring OMG.

This sounds like 8P-SB, and I don't mean it as a compliment.
 

Love them or hate them, almost everyone's got an opinion about Dir en grey. The scene stops to listen whenever Dir en grey announce a new single or album. As a long time fan of the band, I think it's the perfect time to express how I feel about all of their albums. My feelings will differ from album to album. Some albums have had the benefit of twenty years and others only a few months, so that's always going to be a factor in how I rank things. I will cover this from my least favorite album to my most favorite album, but by no means take this as a definitive list for Dir en grey. Everyone will have their own rankings and their own suggestions for where to start. I happen to think that this also a great order to introduce someone to this band.
 
This is a perfect topic for those that don't listen to Dir en grey or don't know where to start, current fans looking for spicy opinions and a pot to stir, or even old fans looking for a reintroduction into their new era. Not only have I included a PV for each album as a sampler, but I also put together suggested playlists for each album. The playlists are the order that I would have arranged the band if I were them. The songs are the songs that I believe are the best from each period. Some will require more effort than others to construct. To make it simpler, I have included my favorite three tracks and one music video from each album.

I will not consider the mini albums MISSA and six Ugly in this analysis, but some of those tracks will appear in the playlists I create.

there might be a partial layer of stronger bonds between mothers and sons vs mothers and daughters - it's a stereotype etc but it's pretty accurate overall.
 
I can't give out any advice in this situation, but given how much external perspective I've gained on family hypocrisy over the past recent years, there's very little chance for them to recognize that you indeed have a very serious and a very real reason to treat him the way you do, and act on that realization.
 
it's either an ingrained internal double-standard for her precious first born, or crystal clear cynicism, and I've seen examples of both.
 
there're ways to do that (a very serious conversation over your own view of what's going on and your clear disapproval of her repeating patterns of condoning him is a start), the problem is your best bet often times would be either developing coping mechanisms if you are otherwise better off staying with your family in your circusmtances, or just outright packing and leaving if you can afford the financial burden of moving out and have savings to do so.

Sadie always had DEG influence and everyone knew Mao was a Kyo fangirl.
 
But it was painfully obvious in Madrigal De Maria. 
They learned and decided to make an album with less DEG as possible and we all know how GANGSTA turned out. I personally like about 50% of that album.
 
But damn Voyage is the greatest song they've ever done

DIMLIM CAN'T GET OUT OF THE VISUAL KEI! It's one of the few really good bands on the scene these days. It's my favorite band of my whole life. I love visual kei, and I love that my favorite band is from this scene, it can't happen! I'm very sad about this new "logo type". I look at him and give me the impression that everything to come will be really bad ... I'm not even so excited for this second album. I hope to be wrong. DIMLIM is everything to me! 😞

If anything I feel like Sho uses growls when it fits the lyrics. Kyo, on the other hand, often seems like he just randomly makes noises. 

I'm not sure if I've got your tone right and you're judging, but this line is giving me a major cosmic brain moment coming from a stan of a band that released clever sleazoid tbh

wow that vocalist seems emotionless both in the singing and in the performance of that video.
 
he also has a pretty bad voice.
