How do you know when 1) things aren't working but the universe if fucking with you and you just need to keep trying, or 2) things aren't working because you're trying things in the wrong way, and they will never work if you don't change/abandon?
-
I think it's up to you to decide. Take into consideration how long you've tried for and why it could be going wrong. Things might work out if you change so you can go back to what you were doing before. (hope that made sense)

Generally when things aren't working like you want keep trying is not the best options coz that's will not working, is better to think about why this things are like or become like that now , how I can do for change that.
After you finish to think about that is more easier for find the good plan for this things can work like you want

Slipknot gets a lot of hate from the metal fans who have graduated onto more technical/mathy/atmospheric metal substyles and bands, but damn...
It doesn't matter how much nutty tech death or mathcore I listen to, Iowa always holds up as one of the heaviest albums ever. The drumming and vocal performances really sell it so well, and the production does an amazing job of not going too clean pristine (the problem of many A-list metal act's albums and tech death metal bands), but also not disregarding the power of well-executed recording/mixing and being too raw in a weak way (the problem of many new-era black metal/experimental/atmospheric inspired metal bands). Perfect blend of precision and fervor, sonicly speaking.

(Without cheating) can you name any releases exact release date that you still remember from being once so hyped?
I've thought long and hard and this is my list:
Versailles - Jubilee : 2010 Jan 20th
Versailles - History & Lemon Hall DVD's : 2009 May 20th
DELUHI - Flashblack CD/DVD : 2009 May 20th
DELUHI - Yggdalive : 2009 November 4
I can remember lots more month/year combos, but getting the day is the ultimate test. Some of mine might be off (i didn't check), but my gut thinks they are correct. How about you? 😮

2013.07.10 - xTRiPx's Any verse. Their comeback album after the hiatus, I was CRAZY hyped for it. I've played the teaser a billion times on youtube

Jiluka - Ajna -Sg Version-, October 25th 2017. It was the first time ever I actually looked at the previews nonstop.
D - Kingdom, November 12, 2014. It would be their last release before the hiatus and I was both overly hyped and depressed.

if you were ever a fan of the band, the new Killie is a must buy. decent sounding re-recordings, the densest release yet. instantly enjoyable if you've listened to their other recordings.
a perfect summary of their work, only shame is that it wasn't released a decade earlier when it could have caused some more waves....
not quite as cohesive in a conceptual way as some of their other releases, but serves the purpose of a great album, in the more traditional sense.

This has probably been asked, but can anyone name VK bands that got better towards the end of their career? (Not counting bands that were only active for like 2 years)
I'm trying to honestly assess if I have an everlasting nostalgia hard-on, or if bands just tend to lose that youthful passion they needed to once prove themselves once they've already made it. With literally every longer-lasting VK band I like, I favor their earlier/first releases (Versailles, Vidoll, Matenrou Opera, Mucc, Nightmare, Kagrra,, 12012, Ayabie, Miyavi, blah blah).
I feel like the GazettE might get mentioned, and I fucked with them for the most part until DIM, but as I get older I find myself caring less about their high-budget modern metal sound (which they continue to pursue, arguably quite well?) in favor of many of their early recordings that may have been slightly rough around the edges in some way, but oozed with passion and desperation. This all despite the fact I discovered GazettE around the stacked rubbish area and didn't care for much before it until many years after.
Thoughts????? DO bands ever get good™ again??

Does anyone know if any of Due le Quartz PV's were ever released on DVD?
-
nope. all their PVs online are either from jisatsu ganbou, replica or VIDEO CLIPS VHS tapes (and a TV rip of rodeo.)

mix tradeoff idea: cheap kei hell/obscure bands only
ultimate goal is for your partner to have not even heard the name of any of ur artists + demo sonic aesthetic, freshman releases, etc.

New FED album sounds cool.. Shame the second-rate mix and triggered drums sound NOT-COOL
cmon guys ur killin me. why must the best years of leda's guitar playing be packaged in this subpar wrapping
-
@rekzerpretty much every (metal) band uses triggered drums for the last decade or two, but most of the time it will be mixed in with the original signal. a lot of the DELUHI stuff probably had triggered kick/snare samples, but it was layered with the actual drum kit. If you listen to like the single version of Two Hurt for instance, you can actually hear the dynamics of the snare (unlike this current FED stuff)
@MamoYeah, I'm just going off of the songs they posted on Youtube.

I don't understand why the bass level is so low in Leda's projects. I just assume that someone who was such a heavyweight sick bassist would want some sick bass action on their recordings. For DELUHI, I can kind of understand, as Aggy seemed to be a pretty barebones, unnoticeable bass player, but ryu from FED seems to be pretty great. *seems* because I can hardly ever hear him, but it looks like hes doing some tough shit in the live dvd
Oh well, the new FED single slams, so I finally care

It really bothers me aswell, but I've accepted that this is just the way he intends for his music to sound. Yggdalive was a beast of release crippled by some real poor mixing table decisions, and this is more or less the case for everything after that. He also does that to the drums, which further proves my point. it's like he separates the base/percussion to serve as stepping stone to guitar lines and vocals. That's why everything he does sounds better live (he can't damp Sujk live, lol). and the thing with the 8-string does make sense, listen to Inhale's 03:02~03:30. The bass is there, you can listen to it in several moments, but the base guitar basically does the job for it. Nadir is another song with some killer bass lines that could've gotten some spotlight. The oddness in all of this is that Leda was a bassist in first place, so it's not like that's just guitarrists being guitarrists, lol

Just saw the Nightmare last live, wow. For the first hour and a bit, i had this sort of melancholy discomfort watching due to Yomi's vocals. I haven't really kept up with the band since like 2010, but it sounds like he's completely changed his singing technique, or hes burned out his voice, or a bit of both. It was tough at times, because you could tell he was really giving it his all and you he could hear the voice straining in ways that make you cringe a little bit because it seems physically painful. Of course, no one wants to go out as a vocalist like that, especially when the rest of the band was playing so well.
However, throughout the final encores, Yomi definitely redeemed himself and you could tell it was taking all of his being to do so. The Star[K]night orchestral arrangement that played at the end before the final encore was really top notch and totally got the feels going. In the end, I feel like it will be really enjoyable for anyone who was a fan of the band at some point to watch. It's challenging at first to feel like you're struggling with Yomi's performance, but he really does make the most of it.
