  1. - April Fool's News Threads

    - Reading people's reactions when BABOO crashed into the scene with some bonafide baby-diaper-ageplay-kei goodness which they've now removed from youtube (crying), but you can remind yourself by checking out 3:05 here

I haven't met as many people as some of the European folks, one time @WhirlingBlack and I *almost* went for drinks, I hope I can go to your club some day. I had the pleasure of hanging out with @monkeybanana4 at a couple of concerts and watching a hilarious shitty movie with @ghost :D

I've made some really good memories here and hope to continue having laughs with some of you. I can't wait for teenage intellectuals and spiritual gurus to keep targeting whichever platforms we move onto 🙏

  2. @cheesy_VK_Freak I agree with you, the manga art is ugly (although it has improved over time) and this is one of those rare times where the anime actually improves/elevates the manga. But literally not one discussion can be had without comments like this

At the end of the day we're all enjoying the same thing and we're all getting hyped over the same story developments. Why is it such a boner inducing thing that you're ahead of some people by reading the manga? You want a cookie?  I don't get it.

I am super hyped for Sunday, it's what gets me through the week. The point of view shift, the backstories and now the reveal of the hobo. I can't wait to see shit hit the fan :D

  3. So the hero academia fandom is absolutely vile, but there's something worse. Hear me out....

    Attack on Titan manga readers.

Can you PLEASE type out ONE comment without saying that you have read the manga + a giving a random spoiler? thank you.

Koichi is on "world-travel" after arabic topic with salam, the last stuff seems to be chinese-themed (Was there a MV? Was there supposed to be a MV? I don't care too much, because what he is doing now is absolutly not my thing)
Its just feel like all the money went to Koichi and Genki went empty handed? Or why Koichi seems to be able to have staff and shooting locations etc.
Is Koichi going down on anyone for this stuff?

After reading this I went to check Trembling Bambi and he's even released a bunch of richardland/8P-SB songs under the Trembling Bambi name. That's kind of weird. Not only has he been pumping stuff out in 2020, the production value is arguably way higher than Spell

What happened? I thought they were in this together.

Full disclosure: I started writing this over two years ago, but I think the point still stands! Thank you everyone who contributed~

After going through Dadaroma's discography, it hit me. People, myself included, always cry whenever they release something that is not Oboreru Sakana. The thing is, there are more than enough solid songs in their discography if you are willing to look past the Masturbations and Pornographs.

I've gathered a few that stand out to me the most and I hope these will ease your yearning for fishy metal.

    白いゼラニウム  (THIS IS "LIVE")

lol I can't embed the youtube video for some reason, so here's a great cover instead

'White Geranium' is what Dadaroma excels at - heavy bass and drums, sinister vibes and sultry vocals. Its punchy chorus never fails to get stuck in my head and make me wonder about the message being conveyed (to nobody's surprise, it's filled with sexual connotations, but I'm a sucker for these sex-lyrics-dark-music songs vk seems to love dishing out).

    Morphine#3  (Dadaism#2)

    Quote

A fast paced, chaotic mess with a chorus that can only be described as the perfect rhythm for some slow and heavy headbanging. I can only daydream about being able to experience Morphine#3 live.

    私、バンギャじゃないわ   (dadaism #3)  @The Reverend

    (I'm not a bangya)

    Quote

If you liked the metal of "Oboreru Sakana" but want something a lot more fun, don't sleep on this send-up of VK culture from their third mini-album.

Composed of big, djent-y riffs, frenetic drumming, background shouts that you just know are timed perfectly for fist pumping in concert, and just a little bit of big top sounding synth stabs to remind you they've got a clown thing going on sometimes, "私、バンギャじゃないわ" is probably Dadaroma's most unapologetic song. It doesn't pretend it's not built for the express purpose of having fun at lives.

(And of course I love the lyrics which are the most self-aware about VK this side of "I'm shit noodle, but..." Any Vk band that doesn't take themselves too seriously earns my goodwill.)

    ブリキ  (夢タラレバ) @plastic_rainbow

    Buriki (Yume Tarareba)

    Quote

While DADAROMA has done many blatant tracks about sex, kinks, and masturbation, "Buriki" is a mouth-watering track that isn't so quite in your face. In fact, the lyrics are more edgy and less about sex. Yet, the way Yoshiatsu sings with a soft and captivating voice on top of some trippy guitars and eerie high-pitched pianos, gives you the feeling that you're in for something luscious and sinister. As the mood picks up and you're about to climax from the overflowing sonic experience, Yoshiatsu goes nuts and screams his mad heart out. "Buriki" is both a headbanger and a ballad, ending in a tragic story, that has everything you need to satiate your thirsty and uncontrollable desires.

    汚れる前に私を抱いて「僕はアンドロイド」 @plastic_rainbow

Yogoreru mae ni watashi o daite (Boku wa Android)

    Quote

If you're looking for anything "Oboreru Sakana"-tier you should definitely check out "Yogoreru mae ni watashi o daite". It's certainly not as heavy as "Oboreru Sakana", but "Yogoreru mae ni watashi o daite" does present a well-written composition with a more mature sound. The cold underground basement synths, chugging guitar riffs, pulsing drums, and elegant pianos; DADAROMA experimented quite a bit with this track and even included some nightmarish organs in the middle section. If there is anything to take away from this stellar track though, it's gotta be the drilling psychedelic guitar riffs that send chills down your spine in a good way.

2017 nen 7 Tsuki 21 Nichi no Nikki ( Ii Kusuri to, Warui Kusuri)

    Quote

There's a lot that's been looked over in DADAROMA's ever growing colorful discography and there's so much to chose from but "2017 nen 7 Tsuki 21 Nichi no Nikki" is definitely a stand out track by it's own rights. Granted, the track is not a massive headbanger but it makes up for it by being infectiously wonderful to listen to. If anything "2017 nen 7 Tsuki 21 Nichi no Nikki" shows that DADAROMA can compose a more pop rock influenced track and manage to give it life through amazing instrumentals, especially the melodically smooth and flawless guitar solos and riffs provided by Takashi. If you're looking for some diversity yet a smoother track then "2017 nen 7 Tsuki 21 Nichi no Nikki" is a song that shouldn't be dismissed as it's a solid b-side.

    Urei Libido  (Ame no Waltz)

    Quote

"Urei Libido" delivers the sexually driven bops that DADAROMA excels at spicing things up with a dash of jazz infused with heavy metal. Most of the time visual bands tend to have difficulty throwing a bit of jazz melody into their songs but DADAROMA seems to have perfected the method. "Urei Libido" has some great brass instrumentals mixed in bassist Tomo's and previous drummer Yusuke's vibrant rhythm sections. Yoshiatsu's vocals shine as well going from strong and smooth to soft and melodic which helps give life to DADAROMA's signature prolific style.

    LUCID DREAM  (dadaism#2)

    Quote

Alright, Oboreru Sakana was great and heavy, but let's not forget 'LUCID DREAM'. Featuring a masterful use of screams and melodic vocals with a dark and whimsical atmosphere which can only be attached to Dadaroma's best work. The drums showcase what a beast Yusuke was and why it still hurts me that he had to retire due to health reasons.  The PV was also stylish and dramatic, a far cry from their recent teenage antics. This is without a doubt one of the band's best work and a reminder of why we fell in love with them in the first place.

What are some of your favorites?  Any that didn't make the list?  DADAROMA has now disbanded and it was a highlight of 2020 for me being able to attend their last live with some folks from MH via youtube. Let's celebrate their life in the comments whether you're a fan or not!

man, i feel like genki’s singing voice is an acquired taste, cause i feel like the only one who doesn’t really like it or think it’s good. i did like mejibray and 8P-SB though, but i’ve always thought this.

then again i love karma’s voice so maybe i just have shit taste lmfaooo :wan-12:

I'd say Karma and Genki are on the same level of acquired taste. For sure Genki could make your ears bleed, but Karma isn't exactly far from that lol Before I get stabbed by either group of stans, I like both mej and 8P-SB and I enjoy Rands as background music.

Did we ever figure out why exactly? I don't understand how you can get blacklisted from all the live houses in japan. I still feel like he's one of the best visual kei vocalists around if he's allowed to create and prosper.

There was a lot of weirdness surrounding mejibray's disband. Koichi and Tzk were pretty vocal (for j-band standards) about how they were unhappy with the label/scene(?) and I think those two got in a lot of trouble specifically. Meto and Mia still do lives wherever they can get them, so clearly they didn't piss off any big guys

It's because you respond to nearly every post, like it's your duty to moderate and respond to everyone. Sad thing is most of your responses are tone deaf, don't ackwnoledge the questions asked to challenge your statements and often have incorrect info. You can't seem to let people have their own conversation and opinion without you

This is the issue. I highlighted it so it should be just long enough for you to digest.

Says the guy who used cursed words because he disagrees with me lol.

You're literally one step away from getting a ban, dude.

Trust me we would all love to have a never ending discussion about dimlim but it's really one sided right now. You need to actually try and engage with the community. It won't kill you to mingle with people who have a different opinion in a civilized manner.

sad as in how they fell from grace or something lol

trolling? the fuck are you on lmao

    Didn't you know?

Saying your opinion is trolling. Unless you're saying dimlim is the second coming of christ. Then you may state your opinion. Anyway, beware of this new rule cuz I'mma have to start giving out warnings and bans around here

(Lets has my family hostage. send help)

Wth are you talking about? They are more known for their experimental side and creativity, but they are more appreciated outside the vk fandom because some got butthurt they or their friends got blocked in sns or they stopped adhering to the vk aesthetics and marketing or how they kicked out of the band the least talented but hottest member lol. I'm saying this because those that are not vk fans that discovered them can only say wow or how outstanding their songs are and were wishing they dropped the makeup because they are too talented for the gimmicks lol.

How did you get "ppl r butthurt the hottest but least talented member left" from "this band needs a bassist"

    giphy.gifgiphy.gif

Nah I'm not going down this rabbit hole again

  12. They could've just done a live stream of the concert (even if pre-recorded) and opened the floor for donations like every other vk band this year, rather than barring people behind the YT Premium gate (you're welcome Retsu)

DIMLIM will stream a concert on January 9, 2021 via youtube. Whatever premium means. Do you need a youtube premium account?

Yeah, you'd need to pay for youtube premium or just sub for a free trial.
