  1. @doomboxthanks bro!!

tokage recommended abstracts and mildrage to me too which both get a thumb up. i like abstracts' take on djent and the guitarist is pretty cool👌which i mean i've known about abstracts for 50 years because of hikari but i never got around to looking into them really for that whole time, oops

I saw paledusk recently and thought they were all right, definitely something to keep an eye on. I've also seen FOAD twice and they were pretty good👌

I'm actually going to be seeing EARTHISTS on saturday iirc when going to see Suggestions & Devil's Inlay, so I'll definitely be keeping my eye open for them. I like the MV !!

    I'm really feelin Graupel !!

  2. I've bought quite a few CDs this year but mostly stuff that was released in previous years...

    ★★★★★

    • リムキャット - ナミダノイロ  Basically grading one song since the other two are remixes and I really like that one song.
    • Sable Hills - ABSOLUTE These guys are just so good 👌 I really like the Ghosts which is featuring Satoken from Abstracts

    ★★★★☆

    • ReVision of Sence - 布教用 4/5 songs were released before and are some of my favorite songs by them so I would put it at 5 stars but this is based solely on the new song.

    ★★★☆☆

    • Shinigami - The Arcane Order  It's pretty good but it's not my style so I never go out of my way to listen to it.
    • シェルミィ - 優しい世界 There are parts that I really like but it's probably their weakest release.

    ★★☆☆☆

    • GARAK'S - 革命  It's not bad. It's just boring.

    ★☆☆☆☆

    • nothing yet

  3. JET has the best pay and support but will stick you anywhere. Recently they added a crap ton of Tokyo locations so there's a good chance of Tokyo now. But you had to apply last fall/winter in order to go this August.

A lot of those big companies that hire overseas you should be wary of because they are considered "black companies." Use websites like glassdoor to check for reviews on specific companies.

Generally you want to avoid eikaiwa.

Do not come on a tourist visa and try to find a job it is stressful and frankly extremely difficult. Likewise: don't work on a tourist visa.

One of the best sites to check for job listings is gaijinpot. It's honestly practically the only one.

  4. so itsukoii was looking for deathcore and has a very similar point of reference to me but I guess I'd say i'm looking for more on the metalcore end of things. I'm cool with deathcore, but more in the setting of a live than listening at home. For example, I really love seeing Inception of Genocide but listening to them recorded...pass

here's a list of basically where i'm starting--basically bands I go to see or have seen and/or already have CDs of.
I don't necessarily need clean vocals but I dont want the screaming to be overbearing lol

    HONE YOUR SENSE

    Last Day Dream

    おはようございます

    Sable Hills

    Breathe my Words

    Crystal Lake

    Suggestions

So what's the recommendation for someone with these as a starting point??

HONE YOUR SENSE and Last Day Dream wont be so active for a while so I need something to fill my time🙃

If you go, have a blast and throw some 'bows for me. I haven't moshed in ages! haha

    There's no way I'm not going \m/

Normally I'm one of the girls headbanging on rail though haha I cant ハーコー even if i wanted to. i do want to start two stepping like the guys in the metal scene and not like for vk...

I didn't mean that Amemura DROP was only for VK, but more that Dir en grey wasn't a VK show. Haha

I saw Deviloof there at their oneman in October. I planned on going to a lot more shows before I had to go home, but unfortunately money got tight. Those benches on the side came in handy when I wanted to store my bag without finding a coin locker. I wish I could be there this month to see HONE YOUR SENSE and INCEPTION OF GENOCIDE together.

ahh i see that makes sense

Yeah the benches are great for storing stuff or just plain chillin

Ahh, I see. Not really a fan of Deviloof but they seem like nice guys. Oh man it's a shame you cant come since it'll be both Kenta's last tour with HONE YOUR SENSE and Aran's last day with Last Day Dream. i think the first time i saw HYS and LDD was at drop and IOG played too lol

Namba Hatch to see Dir en grey, but my first real VK livehouse was Amemura DROP.

man i love DROP..partially because of the benches on the sides. mostly because i feel like i kind of live there at this point.

but it's not really a VK but more like an all around venue that's sometimes used for vk, right?  i go there for metal shows more than anything.

btw who did you see at drop??

  10. Osaka MUSE to see kannivalism in 2010

but since I came back and became ~bangya~ (and then quit being bangya lol...) was Zepp Tokyo for baroque but others played too (vistlip/Girugamesh/Sadie/DaizyStriper/Nightmare/wyse)

As for how people know when to go up it's a lot of random things

    • really small bands you can legit DM/message the guys and they will tell you
    • There's someone who has a contact in some band playing there
    • Peaking under the freaking curtain*
    • based on BGM and/or the sound of their sound check
    • bandmen hinting about it on twitter about playing late or "hurry up" etc etc

As long as there is one contact then they can usually get the schedule. If that's the case then once one girl knows you just have to ask the right people and you know the order too. Sometimes it's guess work "we know Lycaon is torimae and everyone else has played so that means Souiumono must be tori" (actual experience)

*One time when I was in charge because the shikiri was dippin out before the end she told me they didn't know the order at all today and that was what we had to do to check. Thank goodness it was Shibuya REX tbh. Not all curtains are easy to look under.

I remember one time they got the order wrong and my friend had to run from saizen and was missing a shoe for an entire set because her other boot was left at the rail lollllllll

  11. Is sweet home the only band that legit survived graduating from Kerberos?

    • BASH! ⇒ "hiatus" if i'm not mistaken but didnt that happen a year ago
    • FoLLoW ⇒ broke up (but I can't remember when they graduated, I feel like it took a while before they broke up?)
    • ENVIOUS ⇒ broke up
    • Shellmy ⇒ hiatus, lost two members ⇒ came back as シェルミィ

But idk for reasons like that they don't seem to have the best reputation

Do they still take pics of the bands playing at events?
I've heard that the artists don't get to choose the picture themselves.

There were some Kerberos events I was interested in going to but it just never happened. But they seem to put together some pretty fun lives.

  12. If you want any input from the persepective of someone who has been in the indies vk scene for the past 4 years in japan itself, i could try to answer any questions. idk what you're focusing on in particular w/ the panel tho

  13. I listened again and I can say firmly that it's just not my thing. there are parts of the song that i like but a lot of it I'm just not big on or find certain parts just plain unnecessary...... i mean tbh it sounds just like the title says ぐちゃぐちゃ so i guess that's a positive but idk if being all muddled and messy is really my favorite thing to listen to

but I'm still interested to hear the previews for their new album and especially how it fits in

  14. I only went to the Osaka date so everything I mention is from that day:

That Dali song was the shit I flew into like third row without even knowing wtf they were playing lmao

That session in general was really great good fun but with it being three vocalists I could barely hear Juki

    More's setlist was

    1.追憶、そして剥離
    2.残り香
    3.チェシャ
    4.抜け出せない領域、モノグラフ。(平成維新 cover)
5.ashes to ashes, dust to dust.

    Baku covered ruru

    Kaworu covered Mrs.Android

and ok so like Heisei Ishin's setlist was

    1. 暴動ジェネレイション
    2. 鼓動
    3. good morning HUMAN
    4. Endless voyage
    5. Micro burst
    6. 干戈

So what they did for the Heisei Ishin revival was Yukkie sang for most of it but they also used Taku's vocal track for some parts.  I personally thought it was done really well and appreciated that they didn't have another person up on stage for their performance.
