Man, this makes me really angry. I always thought those "modes of" tour didn't have any purpose other than take money from the rabid fans and make Kyo shreds his throat even more. I know, he's old, the amount of abuse he put his voice through in the past is just immense and it's hard to sound good when you run like a maniac, but honestly, watching live footage from Kyo is just depressing nowadays and IIRC the last time I watched a full DVD by them was the DSS at. I know he never was a consistent live performance but until early 2015 or so, he still tried (and even after it, every once in a while he would nail a something really difficult like "Tousei" from the 2nd day at Budokan).
 
I've been following him since 2011, and while it was cool to witness his vocal habilities at their very best (which peaked in 2013 IMO, The Unraveling has sick vocals and he could actually replicate it live almost perfectly - the Tabula Rasa tour was his best, even that DVD that comes with Sustain the Untruth, which was of a performance Kyo did while going through fever and amigdalitis had some very good stuff).
 
You can actually pinpoint the time where he (and the whole band as well) started bringing back the visual elements to live performances and started exploring other stuff besides music - which was all after the 2012 break they took before releasing Rinkaku. In addition to the poetry books, the photography stuff, the goods designs, he really started going. It was kinda cool at first, but nowadays I just get the impression he doesn't even care about the musical aspect of their live shows, as long as he prances around with corpse-paint wearing monk hoods or doing SM shit while dressed like a naughty nun he seems to be satisfied.
 
And most of all, there's a quote from Kyo himself that goes like "if you want perfection, go listen to the studio albums". That's what I do nowadays, but even then, the studio stuff isn't that good anymore and if you ask me, he sounds like absolute crap on Adoratio. His high register is almost gone, he lost the support to hit the high notes and he mostly sound like he's gagging. There's a reason people who absolutely shredded their voices don't try their old stuff anymore (think Nina Hagen, Phil Anselmo, etc.). Kyo just so self-absorbed with this "i'm expressing myself" thing that just insists on doing stuff he can't do anymore instead of revamping his vocal style.
 
He still has done some of the most batshit insane vocal performances I ever heard in my life though and I thank him for that. I just don't have any hope when it comes to his future

The Mode of Macabre is so good. Best DVD out of this series hands down. 
 
egnirys is a top tier vk song, and it's only lost in the shuffle because comes from a band that up to this point had only put out straight heat anyway

I’ve said this. I wish DEG would delve deeper into a more progressive/post-rock sound and ditch the BOOGA BOOGA FOOCHA stuff. Things have gotten a bit stale in that department.

Where did you find this? I’m guessing this is Ranunculus because it’s slow and ballad-ish. It sounds good from what little I can make out although it sounds more like a sukekiyo song tbh. I’m hoping we get some more aggressive stuff since I can listen to sukekiyo for this style.

Kisaki is simply a #vkhistorian wanting to teach/save the new vk children from forgetting a LEGEND. 

They’ve really gone downhill since they lost the Adidas sponsorship. Being able to spend their budget on all kinds of fun things like sitars and Tibetan bowls sure beats spending on the finest production techniques of the Loudness War. 
I don’t know what this band is doing, man. 

I presume it has something to do with this. Probably just a pseudo-reunion or something for the show.
 
 

@nekkichi is correct, and it is also important to consider the culture of the boards as well. Even in the English-speaking world, a report of rape or murder or suicide will be presented in a much different way on Twitter or Tumblr than on say, 4chan or Encyclopedia Dramatica. Tanuki/2ch are extremely blase and candid about sordid topics and sounding "self-pitying" (for lack of better words) would be extremely frowned upon given the board's culture. It is not a nice place. People mock suicide victims and eagerly discuss their desire to commit child abuse. While I understand the reports are just as unverifiable as anything else on Tanuki, it seems irresponsible to make judgments on what a woman's report on this type of thing "should sound like", especially for those who are not familiar with the posting culture & for those who haven't experienced or witnessed the societal and scene-specific issues mentioned in the post above.

Why release one of the best ballads of your career in Ain't Afraid to Die, and then not include it on the album? Why does the album end with Zakuro and Taiyou no Ao, two of the most resident sleeper songs on the whole album? Wake is basically Luna Sea's Hurt. Why does the country bop Audrey get sandwiched between the prog behemoth of MACABRE and the thrash Rasetsukoku? Why is Deity four minutes long, and why does that minute and a half intro mean that Myaku has no intro or outro? Hotarubi is just boring. Where is children and why is it nowhere to be found on the album when that deep cut is better than most of the tracks I've mentioned?

Why is the production paper thin? THREE instrumentals? Really? It's there to hide how disjointed the whole album feels and it doesn't do a good job. PINK KILLER is a terrible way to end the album. And it's not even the song that's bad, just the shoddy execution of it. tfw Zomboid's remix is better than whatever shit stain placed second on the album.  embryo is snoozeville. I don't care how egregious the lyrics are, the rest of it is about as exciting as sleeping in a broken washing machine. Why are the best non-single tracks on the album not called Bottom of the death valley (24 Cylinders, Gyakujoutannou Keloid Milk) B-sides of the previously released singles? JESSICA comes out of nowhere and doesn't belong on an album so vulgar. The Domestic Fucker Family is just foochin' terrible and I don't think a re-recording could save that song, even if they went all in on the doom direction.  
I can go on and on with some other albums, but I think you get the idea.

My honest guess is that they will hold out on re-recording GARDEN until they announce disbandment, and that will be a parting gift. No proof, just a gut feeling.
