I share the same sentiment, but I've come to accept the times have changed. I've had to make do with some of the host-kei trope bands w/ live-limited releases, but there's only been a handful I've stuck with. The exorbitant prices, inconvenience of shipping, and my own shift towards financial sensibility have whittled away my urge to buy, even upload anything. Amidst all the attempts to branch out to international fans, I feel like the visual kei that I was interested in has largely made a sharp inversion back into the shelled-up live scene. Granted, a huge part of the "perceived growth" I was seeing were the fans who made the effort to upload in the first place... but that takes time & resources that many, including myself, aren't willing to expend anymore. So it's a combination of the scene and the fans, prob. 60/40.
 
On a positive note, the Japanese Indie scene has become increasingly accessible w/ many artists embracing the Spotify platform. You don't have to scrounge for CDs, use Soulseek, or spend hours on Audioleaf to find good artists anymore.
 
Things come in cycles, and fortunately I'm waiting this one out through a plethora of other genres.

I'll have to back up on the 23TB stat (I just saw that number thrown around in a thread), I'm not exactly sure how much tbh, but it's a lot. I figure migrating 23TB of data is somewhat viable, but it sounds like they're having trouble doing it themselves.
 
@Zeus Apparently legislative stuff w/ the Netherlands (and possibly EU) regarding the laws prohibiting lolicon content, etc. Tenboro is calling it quits b/c he doesn't want some cat-and-mouse game to ensue, so it's going down.
 
Reminds me of the nyaa.eu situation where everyone just gave up and left it up to the users to fork it, archive everything, and find seeders. Most stuff on e is already on n-hentai... except for the quality scans of artbooks, ollld comiket doujins, and cg stuff. Which is a shame b/c that's the really important stuff.

ah! it's always a shame when gigantic data repositories go down. we think they will always be there and then one day they aren't anymore.

the panic has spread to /a/ w/ all the archiving reqs, which is how I got the news.
 
ex will likely be down in a couple hours, but e should remain up for a couple months... though that doesn't control the stuff that's already being taken down as I type this. fun fact that the ex + e are a combined ~23TB of material. i doubt that they (or other users) didn't have a plan in place , especially how the 4ch demographic is the most anal about archiving shit.
 
but yea, shoutouts to the Netherlands bopping our cartoon porn. though it was probably b/c of all the sketchy stuff on ex which never attracted me in the first place. the lost obscure vn cgs + artbooks will be a bummer, tho.

Depending on how the video is removed, there's a small window after deletion where you can grab the video via youtube-dl or another YouTube download service. Otherwise, it's impossible unless the same content was re-uploaded elsewhere.

Oh yeah, that's another rabbit hole lol. I think A432 could be good if, say, you're a singer and its more in your range. But when it comes to the actual temperament, unless you're an experimental musician, the whole push to switch to something other than equal temperament honestly makes little sense in the scale of western music. Although alternate tuning systems are really fascinating.

I also vouch for Denzel. He's a great lyricist that isn't afraid to experiment with different sounds. Bouncing between this album, Tyler's "Igor", and J.I.D's "Dicaprio 2". They're all a breath of fresh air in a scene that's currently dominated by mumble meme rap.

Seems likely they'll announce it during WWDC, as they've been quietly purging everything iTunes on their social media pages (-sans Twitter atm.) Hopefully, this is related to them introducing a better file-transfer app/service for local media b/c iTunes has been piss-poor/unintuitive for a long time... Or they make a "brave" move and say, "Fuck it, everything goes to the cloud".
 
As for music consumption, it's been pretty obvious for a while now that streaming has won out in the music consumption war. It's weird to think that most people aren't going to "own" their own music anymore, but honestly, even my own hand has been forced. It's much more affordable, and the quality is still there. It's a staggered transition, but an inevitable one. (Gotta wait for that idol handshake/vk economy to catch up, lol.) 
 
*Not implying that physical media will suddenly disappear, there will be less of an incentive for most people, though.
