La'veil MizeriA has developed into a pretty good band imo.
-

I hope they can maintain it after jaki's departure, though.

I love love love them. One of my current faves no doubt. Agreed with the point above, though - hope they can keep the quality up.

Maybe I'm just getting old and this is cliche. But I feel like visual kei is in an awful state right now. I can count the amount of active bands I give a shit about on one hand. I hope that changes in the foreseeable future. Maybe it's just a down year idk.

Nightmare/ナイトメア may have gotten a lot of their popularity from Death Note but they deserve their place among the best visual kei bands of all time imo. Love this band! 😍
-
They have TOO many bangers not to be. Sad to see how they've diminished over time though...

I think they are of a pretty high "Legend Status", so to speak, at least based on their success in Japan. They probably get a little less praise then you'd proportionally expect in the western fan world.
Every time I revisit Nightmare, I'm impressed at how good a lot of their songwriting is. Particularly, from like 2004-2008 I find, every album is full of really dense, but easy to listen to, tunes. I listened to Killer Show for the first time in ages a few days ago and I was amazed how much of a melodic contribution the bass was. Great bass lines and total earworm guitar solos on every track, it's crazy. Only thing that got a little annoying was how formulaic every track felt on that album, but you've got an album like anima, in contrast, which is full of some really varied and progressive tracks.

Scarlet Valse is cool but I feel they could be even better with a different vocalist. The only thing holding them back from being Versailles tier imo. That and maybe being on starwave.
-
I go back and forth on his vocals. Sometimes they're fine, but he doesn't have as much of a range as some of their songs call for.
My problem with them is that their compositions seem kind of pedestrian; like they're trying very hard to be an off-broadway radio-friendly-Versailles or a watered down Stratovarius instead of just a their own symphonic metal band. I loved "Schwert" on their mini, and their opening instrumental track was great as well, but the rest of the songs seemed like they lacked the punch that their earlier stuff, like "Eternal White" or "揚羽蝶乃夢" as an example, had. Maybe if they wrote songs in more than 3 different tempos or the same 2 kind of songs structures (bombastic epic metal or slow """"heartfelt""" ballad) they'd have more of an appeal.

So listening to that new DIO song. Where are the death growls though?
-
So when are we going to get new info on Moi dix mois or Versailles new albums? I need something exciting to look forward to this year. Answer my prayers vkei gods.
-
So why did you guys stop doing dubtrack?
-
@Original Sakuso there wasn't one today? Thought I missed 'cause I came home quite late today...
-

The search function on this site sucks pretty bad. Why can you not search a band if it has spaces in it? lol

Videos auto-playing at full volume is the worst fucking thing when you wear headphones all the time like me. My poor ears... again.
-
We need a place to discuss albums after their release. Kinda like a "thoughts" or mini review thread. I want to hear what the general consensus on Versailles new album is.
-
I actually liked this Greatest Hits collection wayyy more than I thought I would. My interest in Versailles all but died with their lackluster 4th album, but seeing as NONE of those tracks made it on this collection, the band felt similarly about their 2012-era, haha. The 2 new tracks are pretty cool, but I need to listen more. Overall, I feel like my Versailles fandom is rejuvenated and I'm excited to hear whatever their first real "new" release will be.
-
LOL, just post your thoughts in the review forum. You don't have to write anything fancy or long. Just write however you feel. Hell, even if you just post a thread to start the discussion and then come back and fill in your thoughts later -> that's cool too. Ain't nobody gonna trip about it.
If you go through the general review forum, you'll see that plenty of people have done that in the past. It used to be a really common practice here, but I suppose it's dropped off a bit. But fuck all that, just take the initiative and start one of you own. ; )

We've used the same Banner for April Fools since the last like 5 years or something. Isn't it time for a change?

What is ice ex-black gene doing now? I haven't heard from him in a while. He needs a new metal band asap.
