The instrumental slaps, but the vocals are weak af and muddy. Therefore Mejibray, Aikaryu, and The Piass will remain the brutal kings of VK. David's Blood-Resonance for Existence-, Femme Fatale's  GRIM REAPER and 劇情テノール (gekijotenor_)'s beast slap harder imo. They should learn how to do deathcore properly or drop it. better than Quinstet though.

Frankly, to me it's a typical deathcore band. I understand why people like it, but praising the band that much like some people do clearly shows that the only thing they care about in such kind of music is whether the band is japanese visual kei or not. There are thousands of bands that are on par with Deviloof when it comes to signing and technical aspect.

Yet, there are always some cool moments in Deviloof's songs that I like.

Goddamn it. It really irks me how much there are brainless assholes that still support this dude after all those years of borderline scamming. I once commented "nobody cares, just release the album" on  a FB picture he posted with some random celebrity and a lot of people started attacking me lol

I'm glad to see people here aren't blindly supportive towards him considering the extent some people's fanboying go...

I'd rather listen to MOAB because it sucks less than TIW but the bassless production is as bad sounding as the overly-clipped mass of sounds of TIW imo.

I don't know, I never really had a problem with Uroboros' original mix and I think the strange-sounding production actually aids to create the unique atmosphere the album has, but I don't really any issue with the remaster either (except with "Stuck Man" that sounds really weak without the bass as prominment as on the original). I think the best thing the remaster did was enhance the vocals (when the subject matter is vocals alone, I usually recommend people to listen to the remaster because comparatively, the growls are much clearer, the harmonies are crispier) but I see how someone would feel like it lessens the power of the original experience as a whole.

I wonder if we'll ever have another good sounding album by them lol. Even they are mostly sticking to the same production crew for a while, their sound has been getting increasingly worse overall. A band with their importance and influence having only 3 great produced albums out of 10? WTF

That's sincerely why I want them to tour as less as possible to really have the most time to work on studio possible. You can really feel how rushed the whole process for TIW was (not only when it came to production overall, but the writing really felt dumbed down and lacking too). Kinda curious how much they toured in 2007 (the most they ever toured in an year) and 2008 (not as much as they did in 2007) and still came out with something with the scope and complexity of Uroboros in less than two years after Marrow. Maybe they're just old and rich and lazy now?

The Unraveling has a lot of Korn influence, as well a lot more songs on Vulgar, such as Marmalade Chainsaw and songs on Uroboros like "Doukoku To Sarinu"

Back when they were still on their prime, their heavy stuff was virtually unbeatable. Their attempt at making "heavy" stuff with TIW was just bad, dumbed down and annoying. I remember someone here saying that they should leave the heavy stuff to younger bands because they're doing it better than DeG now and it saddens me, but I agree. I honestly doubt anyone else will ever come up with something the level of Uroboros or DSS, but a lot of bands are pulling the whole extreme/alternative/prog metal(core) thingy better than DeG did with TIW.
I think it's possible, they've "resurected" older songs before (albeit in heavily different forms sometimes). "Conceived Sorrow" and "Revelation of Mankind" were included on the albums that followed the ones they were originally composed for, for example.

been listening to the DISC 3 of Vestiges,The unraveling mini, and the heaviest tracks of DSS,and GOD,their deathmetal era was so good.that production was criminally brutal,so much that makes your skin crawl, they were amazing.unfortunately,TIW still not flowing well to me,the only thing i could enjoy was Aka,and unless they release a remastered version of the album,i don't think it will ever grow on me.Usually i need time to digest an album, however,i keep retrying and revisiting and still the same...shit.

Seriously though 100% I want they to go as soft as possible. No screaming, no skank beats, no downtuned riffage, no exaggerated kyopera. Just pretty, wholesome music like "Higeki wa..." or "Namamekashiki...". The heavy stuff wore out its welcome.

Well, they also can include remakes from VoS.  And, maybe one new single+another re-recording.

Couldn't care less since I hated TIW, but I hope they don't pull off a X Japan again and play the same setlists on the two days like they did for the Arche gigs (they just changed the order for the second day). One of my favorite things about the DSS gig was how they "split" the songs across the two days, so it really gave the concerts an "event" feel. Except for the odd song exclusive to each day (and there was very little IIRC, like 2 or 3 for each day), if you watched one day of the Arche gig you don't really need to watch the other.

I'm almost sure they'll do the X again though, the album is quite short and there isn't much more they've done between Arche and TIW to fill up the spaces though. For DSS they had all the 8 Unraveling songs, plus Kiri to Mayu as a b-side and Sustain the Untruth to add to the setlist. Unless they play the D'erlanger cover (which I doubt they'll ever do) they only have Ash and the stupid remakes from TIW as "recent material" to add to the setlist now.

I think they'd release one live-friendly single before wrapping it up I guess?

Sure. Most of them are credited as 'Music: Issei' but there's a couple of exceptions. 受難 (junan) is credited to Uta, Believing to Yoh, another DAY to Mio, and 色失 (shokushitsu? iro-ushinai?) and SAD[ist.] were apparently composed by Tsubasa (ex-DIMLIM, I guess). Lyrics are all credited to Mio, and it seems Issei produced the instrumental tracks solo.

It's almost as if Isseis skills are in talent scouting and not making music (DIMLIM improved after he left) and certainly not in mixing/mastering (everything sounds awful that he's had a hand in the recording process).

Perhaps he should form a label instead of bands, being an asshole is pretty much mandatory for that job anyway.

You know, the album is nowhere the trainwreck I was expecting! Those are just my impressions from a first listen.

Let me start with the biggest problem: Mio's singing. He is trying WAY TOO HARD to sing in a range he doesn't have. He is indeed a very good screamer (he's way better than Sho when he started out, he doesn't overabuse inhales and is overall more versatile) but for now his clean voice is making me have a harder time enjoying the music. Maybe he can go under an impressive improvement like Sho did, but who knows?

While there is recently a whole wave of VK bands that put A WHOLE LOT of emphasis on musicianship sometimes to the expense of songwriting, I feel like the musicianship is not only capable but also used in a way it doesn't try to compensate for bad songwriting (different to something like Jiluka's lastest album which is nearly unlistenable). Despite the over-triggered drum sound that doesn't make him much favor, Issei is indeed a good drummer and way more capable than the repetitive machine gun double bass blasting I've heard in a lot of his stuff would indicate. The bass-heavy production renders the music a bit messy, and it doesn't help that their sound is very layered (with lots of guitar leads, vocal harmonies, orchestral and electronic instrumentation), so the mix is kinda muddy (I had wishes of DeG going for 8-strings before but this album reminded me that with their awful production values of late, the music would sound like a total mess).

The songwriting is all over the place (there are proggy pieces, the all-out aggressive stuff in line with the promotional singles, synth-heavy "anthemic" live-oriented stuff, ballads here and there) pretty much like early Dimlim, but I consider it to be a slight improvement over something like Various (sorry, but I really dislike it). One of the biggest complains is the abundance of synth sounds that a lot of times subtract more than add to the song (not to mention how they clutter the mix even further). Couldn't care less about the anime ED ballads though and the unabashedly "live-oriented" songs with all the gang vocals and call-and-response bits don't do much for me either.

My favorite tracks were "Judas" (which sadly suffers from some of the worst vocals of the album), "unknown" and "Blink".
