Enjoyed that song a lot. Ray's voice is awesome. Hope he'll sing in a few more songs on that album

Dorothy is one of those songs a fake Japanese band would make as a joke. I can picture the PV already:  cats in kimonos dancing in front of a backdrop of Mt. Fuji and the Japanese flag. Mix in some 80’s filter aesthetics, and you’ve got a banger.

someone kindly uploaded the album on yt, listen to it before it is gone.

    first impression:
I agree this might be the worse album of sukekiyo til now, but still this is quite nice and interesting to listen to. inbetween some songs that I disliked (come on, why is that dorothy song on that album?!)
hyohaku is nice, has some interesting moments. Surprisingly, I really like sharara. The electronic parts fit really well.
I miss the nice piano outro in kouma chiga, ... that was in the demo version, but overall the song sounds better.
was there anybody else who was really hyped listening to the guitar part during the last seconds of kimi wa mukidashi, and then suddenly the song stopped? Like COME ON that sounds soo good make more out of that

I became fond of sukekiyo listening to vitium, which is one of my favorite albums ever. I will miss their sound.

they are such talented musicians, I really missed the drummer in that album...that is what goes through my mind right now.

I'm just saying it would be a weird experience showing up to a sukekiyo show expecting to snort coke off a fat goth's manboob only to find a bunch of teenage girls dancing and waving in a synchronized VK dance cult.

I'm struggling to find the appeal of sukekiyo. They're the kind of group you would find in a New York nightclub full of drugged-out techno goths ripping coke and ecstasy in the bathroom. To my knowledge, such a thing is non-existent in Japan. So what's the point?

the bonus tracks have pretty much always been useless to be honest, give me demo versions of tracks, b-sides or instrumentals or just don't bother

i haven't listened to the entire album in full, just did the preliminary ''skimming through songs'' thing i always do with releases i'm hyped about and so far everything sounds perfectly fine to me..? majority of the complaints i've been reading about the album so far have been regarding overuse of electronics but i don't really see what the big deal with that is tbh, ''muh real instruments'' is such an empty complaint when many vk bands make use of backing tracks anyway

I love the song ' Unknown ".. i prefer when the singer stay in his comfort zone and don't try to sing to high. And this song is very catchy.

With a better sound producer they could go very far

Haha yep, "flat" is an understatement. It just sounds crap, like it was a nice idea they tried but the fact is, 90% aren't listening to their music with the set up they were going for so everyone is just like "wow, well this really sounds shit" haha. I was damn surprised when I first put the disc on, I thought my speakers had screwed up for a minute or something. haha.

It's a shame about not putting out a full album, if Lime is the main song writer then I can kind of understand what he means, but the solution is just to take longer on your work and not just put out 3 tracks every few months. Obviously I know how the Japanese scene works and that they need to keep momentum going and whatever but it IS possible to write a quality full length over time. As the main song writer in my own band, our first release is a full length album (11 songs) which took about a year to compose and even though the label hasn't announced us and the album's not out yet we're working on an EP (5/6 tracks we're thinking) which I have been working on, on and off for another year or so.... The point I'm trying to get at here is that, I personally think if you spend longer to really refine your ideas and stuff, you flesh out the bad/boring/generic ideas and end up with one REALLY solid release where every single part is (hopefully) really cool. I do sometimes wonder how much better a lot of V kei bands would be if they took this approach, obviously I like a lot of V kei bands, so far from saying they're bad (though of course some are....haha) but just have to wonder if instead of pumping (maybe rushing??) out 3/4 songs every couple of months they spent longer to really work on a more lengthy release that was properly refined how it would sound. I mean with my bands stuff, we literally had completed songs that we made adjustments to the week before recording or even during the studio time. haha. Don't rush shit out, take your time and get it right as once that song is recorded there's no going back. Unless you want to keep re-recording it like some bands we know.... hah

That explains a lot because I listened back to Adoratio the other day and was like "what the fuck is this terrible production?!". It seems like whatever project Kyo is apart of, he mandates that his vocals take precedent over everything else to such a drastic degree that the music sounds muddy in deference to the vocals.

I can't even count how many exceptional guitar lines were completely buried into the mix.

I haven't heard all the songs and most of the songs I heard only once, but this EP feels much less "all over the place" stylistically than the album did, but strangely I think the "messiness" of the full-lenght gave it a bit of character that I feel like the songs I heard lacked. Of course hearing their music with better production is great (despite Issei's drumming still sounding a bit more robotic than I'd like - but I suppose since they recorded everything at his home he might record his parts on an electronic kit) and I'm glad they aren't cluttering the mix with lots of unnecessary bells and whistles but I feel like the songs feel more watered-down.

Kinda bummed that Mio is doing much more inhales on this EP  Don't really have much to say about his cleans since everyone pointed that already but I'm a tad bummed he's doing it that much (say what you want about it fitting stylistically but I don't really believe it's possible to use inhales that much without having negative effects on his throat). Kinda feel like his harsh vocals sound weaker than they did on the album due to the mixing).

I agree they should stick with the more symphonic gothic thing, the "rave party metal" songs they've done are fairly bad. Issei could invest on some better-sounding orchestral VSTs though, the string sounds he is using sound pretty plastic.

Although I like the first full-length album, but I love this mini-album more.
Honestly I think they improve their sounds a lot in this mini,
Especially Mio uses pig squeals a lot in this record,
and also his whistle voice is not that shrill like in the full-length.
So I think this mini-album is more easy-going for me, I enjoy it a lot!

The only one track I need to complain is "break it down",
they seem to want to fuse other genre or materials in, but it sounds totally failed.
And in 無慈悲な蒼空, Mio is singing out of his range. This is another problem we all know.

In this mini, my favourite track is メアリ, it's so melodic, and the chorus is really catchy,
And I like how uta describe it, A Vkei like sound! I love it so much!

It feels better as a package, sure, but when you start picking it apart, it starts to show the same issues as the full-length. Messy compositions, unnecessary out of range singing, guitar-wanking solos just for the sake of it and Mio sounds even more like a pterodactyl in places.

Despite it all, I still love it to bits, same as Jingai, but more so for what it could be, not so much for what it actually is.

Funnily enough the messiness is what made me like it better, it makes it more engaging, at least to me than standard (even decently composed) deathcore.

I suppose the band name is a japanese onomatopoeia (probably for something edgy like fellatio) but I can't help but think of turkeys everytime I see their name lol

PV song is kinda all over the place but they have potential. Glad to see Kazari still being active in the scene.
