One thing that I admire about k-pop, they are open about the members' age. I was pleasantly surprised by how many K-pop dudes are nearly 30. Actually, I can't remember if this is the same with girl groups? Anyway, in Japan it's a crime to be over 18 years old in media/music/etc., which I find creepy and annoying tbh. As if people over 18 can't be charming or cute, can we stop pretending human beings don't age

+1 but this is how the big boys make money apparently? "Tone down your looks so you'll appeal to the masses and make big bucks" but then they just lose what made them good in the first place and end up disbanding a year (tops) after going major. Stoopid.

wow vk needs this. I'm having a good time listening to MISC. Music's alright, vocals as usual are great.

Visual kei is essentially a collection of tropes from song structure, naming conventions and stylistic choices. Anyway, some of these characteristics can be very unpleasant so which one would you ban if you had the power to do so? I'll start off with Engrish. The artists probably have no idea what they're saying to begin with and are only doing it for cool points/to cater to a possible western audience(???) and anyone who speaks more than one language knows that your tone of voice changes depending on which one you are speaking in. Usually when Japanese artists switch to English their voice changes for worse, not to mention the mess they make trying to pronounce stuff. See: the first minute of Sukekiyo's Foster Mother sounds like kyo's blowing flour from his mouth IT RUINS THE MUSIC EXPERIENCE

mamireta's PA because they must have insane after gig hang outs.

Is their sound oshare?

But it's just scary how high the occurrence is. Not so much a probability, more like a fact.

People who are the life of the party probably have really dark secrets and/or fucked up issues. Tried and tested.

T-shirts cost around £15-£25 Hoodies can cost up to £50

Denim shorts-kei is a no from me. Plus, too much messing around with the vocalist's voice.

It's fine. Dimlim have beepbooping and doing weird time signatures//structures for a while now so I don't get the complaints. It's what they do. There's a method to their chaotic songwriting imo, it doesn't sound incoherent.

The US is a massive country, I'm sure the pool of applicants is diverse enough that we could get one NY girl and 13 of every other state. Why does rupaul's recruitment favor NY every season? Are they New Yorkers themselves? Why did rapal dark res get erased?

I think the reason the musicians don't talk about it much is because they're not thinking about their sexuality. Their look is a costume, just like other performance arts have costumes. Through western perspective it's easy to analyse and put gender roles and other analytical concepts to it, but I don't think the majority of vk performers thinks about what wearing make up and feminine clothes means to them on a gender transgression level/ as an extension of their sexuality. It's simple as "as a chef I put on my white apron" "and as a member of kiryu I wear full make up and sometimes a skirt. " of course there are queer members out there who probably enjoy the freedom of visual expression in the scene but we don't know for a fact who and how many, after all, sexuality in Japan is a taboo subject that can only be broken for the sake of fanservice bucks, horny fujoshi and temporary high school exploration storylines (hello shoujo ai).

If it's written miscellaneous I pronounce it as that. If it's abbreviated to Misc. I always pronounce it as 'misk' 😅 I'm sure I'm not alone on this one.

Huh? How are you supposed to pronounce it??

Anyone still give a shit about rpdr? The queens for s12 got revealed yesterday, it seems like it'll be a less catty season but there's quite a few "Manga, jpop, kpop, nerdy fantasy" queens. The only queens who caught my eye so far are Heidi N Closet and Crystal Methyd. Rock M Sakura catwalk look had great storytelling and I'm here for that Kill la Kill influence. And this queen's Paine from FFX-2 inspired look also gets approval. But whenever a NY queen goes off about why NY is the best city in the universe: I can't imagine being close to a new yorker IRL, they seem unbearable lol thx drag race.

They sound great live. You can see there's a lot less strain on Chiaki's performance.

What? Sounds okay and looks rough, like, indie rough. They're really living off the fat of the land.

You didn't need to go that hard

I'm surprised to see yumeleep and pentagon here culture shock is still stuck in my head, if only they had a couple more releases like that before disbanding! I must've overlooked Dokushin (I wasn't even aware of the band lol) seems interesting so I'll have to check it out.
