So they did two 'secret' appearances at Shibuya Rex on Wednesday and Thursday respectively. They showed off two additional new songs there called 'Cheers!' and 'アガクセイヲ'. They'll be making their first 'official' appearance on March 1st at an event live, and they've announced a ton more of those. Machi also made a mention that they're playing the dates and places where MeteoroiD was originally going to have their one-man tour this spring to coincide with the mini-album release that didn't happen. Meanwhile Genki has been the only member still posting on his MeteoroiD fanclub blog and has said he'll keep it going until the site closes at the end of March.

I was also super fond of Genki's voice and the eccentric energy he brought to the band. I really hope that this new band can keep the same fun side that MeteoroiD had. I don't know yet how to feel about the preview, but I really want to like it and give this new guy a fair shot.

Reading Genki's latest tweet, it definitely sounds like they have definitely gotten a new vocalist. He said something along the lines of there being a reason they can't go on together but he can't say any details and that he's sorry but he wants everyone to know he will keep singing meteo songs.

Enough is enough when you are actively harming yourself or others, or making the artist in question uncomfortable. I don't think it's really fair to judge by more than that. It's a rough world, and as hokey as it sounds, life's just too short. If you love something that much, do it. If you don't, not your place to judge.
 
There are some things like the whole practice of demachi that I'm not entirely comfortable with, for example, but I've seen girls do it and a lot of the bands were really cool about it. (Morrigan for example really doesn't seem to mind people approaching them at all, haha, they were so chill with their fans.) If the band doesn't take issue, then I don't see a reason to.
 
Also, again, I really have to vocalize that my experience with people in Japan regarding vkei (who aren't involved in the scene) hasn't been remotely negative. More often than not they either don't anything about it and shrug it off or don't know anything and they're curious about it. To have a stigma would mean it's known enough to have a stigma in the first place. But again, that's just my experience.

I don't know that there's been any additional thread for this, but they're doing a fanclub buffet lunch/nomihoudai on January 28th in addition to a two-man show with Pentagon on February 2nd!

I don't really expect a lot of interest since this kind of thing takes a lot of effort to coordinate. But since I should be going to their final live, if any of their overseas fans want to pass along letters/gifts/whatever for MeteoroiD, please drop me a message and I'd be happy to.

I was surprised some of my kids actually know who ONE OK ROCK are. Uhm, does Man with a Mission count? Not super familiar with them, but my kids know them too. Otherwise it's all about the pop life.

This is one of those bands I never expected to like as much as I do. Also this song is great.

I've been watching some old X-Japan videos few days now and these guys were really cool back then. It reminded me of why I was such a big fan of them! Toshi was a beast on the vocals, Pata and Taiji were super smooth glam rockers, even Yoshiki was fairly cool there and hide brought his crazy energy to the band. These guys were throwing TV's out of hotel rooms, kicking people during lives and there are slut stories about hide and co floating around the web.
 
Then fastforward, I check some recent live material........... Yoshiki introduces every song, Yoshiki does some overdramatic shit, Yoshiki and (now ballss-less) Toshi have some random heart warming conversation on the stage. What happened? When did this band become Yoshiki & co.? He was never this prominent back in the day! And what happened to Toshi?

Idiot question, but is his name meant to be pronounced as "Nanaju"?

First off, I can't wait for this Tribal Tattoo to come out. Although now I'll have to make the hard choice about which Tribal Tattoo I want Tsuzuku and Meto to sign.
 
Second off, one of my favorite things about that DVD is on the first disc when Koichi jumps into the crowd, he just looks so ridiculously happy. It's impossible for me to watch that and not smile with him.
 
Which look is my favorite is way too difficult for me, although I have to say I'm really keen on the length Tsuzuku's hair is about now. Also I'd kill for Koichi to dress up like a tiger again but that'll probably never happen.

I don't unerstand Golden Bomber's apppeal/popularity. At least other comedy bands like KISHIDAN, jealkb, and GROUP TAMASHII  play instruments. Like, what do you get out of a Golden Bomber live performance? I was watching the recent Rock in Japan Festival broadcast and they're in it just doing stupid gags while pretend performing. Like the bassist and drummer pretend play and then stop to get the crowd's attention... Meanwhile the song is still playing in the background. Wtf?

I have a lot of honorable mentions, but they're bands where I was really into a smaller selection of songs/one particular album (Girugamesh, MUCC) or I'm just starting to kind of get into them (Dadaroma, Morrigan), so I don't think I can really safely call them a 'favorite' yet.

Just going to go ahead with the consensus of yeah, variety is the spice of life and would have been nice to have here. The lack of Malice Mizer actually really confused me. Poor choice of samples, poor choice of YouTubers to expose this to, definitely set up in a certain way to illicit a very specific reason from the people watching which is a little unfortunate.

The string of band members who have the 'no talkie' schtick. It's less that I hate it, because sometimes I'm cool with it (like shamelessly, I think Meto does it well), but then I keep seeing it and sometimes it just either feels unnecessary or like they don't really have enough personality sans voice to pull it off. It's less that I can't stand them and more that I sometimes go 'why?'

I feel like life is a little better after hearing this story thank you
