Honestly, it took me like 2-3 years of listening to it on and off before I really began to appreciate the nuances between the songs. Before that, I thought all the songs sounded really bland and same-y.

Despite really liking 12012 last 4 or 5 releases, I will concede that shudder was not only peak 12012 but peak vk

PLAY DOLLs is my definition of a perfect album. Washed out, hazy sound, full of melancholy, and raw as hell.

Love listening to it every winter on those cold, bitter nights.

i guess its always better to go out with a massive bang than just release mediocrity after mediocrity but man releasing Deicida of silence, the swan, and xii in that order i just feel like they mustve had another release or two in them. 

12012 and Rentrer en Soi were like echoes of each other. They both released messy and mostly uninspired “heavy” albums then started dropping minis and singles that showcased untapped potential. Then they peaced out. 

Fuck man the red is such a good song tho, if their final mini album was any indicator these guys still had so much talent and potential left.

I bought one for a heidi. live dist. single once; basically the code takes you to a unique URL to DL your songs, and may include some video or additional content as well. I'm in Canada and had no problem DLing the music.

PS. Samples sound great! 20+ years and never afraid to experiment!

 

My thoughts exactly. I've never been able to get them or like their stuff,  thought it was very obvious they are neither good or interesting. But they keep on keeping on. 

I could see it. There's a lot of music that's better live for sure.

New look

Those 4 superb EPs got rid of my PANDEMIC induced PTSD. I have faith it's gonna be brilliant.

Small extra info mentioned in that cali-gari × deadman collab news article: apparently aie does guest backing vocals on one of the mini album's songs!

All this confirms is that KEEL and DECAYS aren't coming back anytime soon.

cali gari had a coupling tour with Kein, which is where he got to know Mako.

I never really knew why Hazuki left, and I don’t know all that much about Ai - or who his support band was for his solo project. But yeah, I definitely appreciate him for keeping his style alive through the years. Most bands would’ve called it quits. Good on him indeed.

What line-up changes?

Hazuki left in the beginning of Deathgaze because he wanted to have more creative input.
The second guy left because he got married, I think?

Then there's was Naoto before Takaki joined - I mean, 5 years in a band is a pretty long run.

And Darrel's lineup is stable since they were all support member of Ai's solo project.

Can't see anything out of the ordinary here.

But yeah, Ai is dedicated to his sound?
