emmny 4139 Posted May 8, 2015 imo its the same formula (as stated) but the execution is fresh and kind of different the structure seems a little more varied, and i love the vaguely tribal tom part toward the end; im probably ignorant but kai doesnt drum often like that so it just sounded super cooooooooll also, their supposed dim worship songs end up better than most of dim lol 1 relentless reacted to this
Pretsy 1343 Posted May 8, 2015 imo its the same formula (as stated) but the execution is fresh and kind of different the structure seems a little more varied, and i love the vaguely tribal tom part toward the end; im probably ignorant but kai doesnt drum often like that so it just sounded super cooooooooll also, their supposed dim worship songs end up better than most of dim lol I would have said the same if they happened to do this after TOXIC - but it's 2015 and we've had 3 albums after DIM with tons of songs that follow the formula of earlier hits, bangers, you name it. "Fresh" and "kind of different" have become petty excuses in their case, so in this case literal backtracking (as this sample showcases for the most part, minus "tricky" BGM) will eventually backfire and leave even the most dedicated stans jaded in the short run Also, Helios got my concerns wrong - I think relentless actually realized what I was about and pinpointed more severe elements in this plethora of problems that Gazette's experiencing lately ("reduced" signatures, timbres...), that are more likely to exacerbate minor, coexisting "problems" that regular listeners, and even most precise listeners don't really care about (like e.g. running down on a couple of keys). I am not a specialist in this matter but Ruki's certainly not the right person to uphold and churn out a wide, consistent variety of various ideas and concepts FOR YEARS and beyond (e.g. various maestros from the classical music, various figures from the 'popular' music culture, e.g. Bowie). Why do I find this important? Because this is my version on why Gazette's stagnancy is becoming more and more obvious lately - Ruki's not only the person to blame on "poor" vocal department (as we discussed that earlier), he's also the one to blame for a quality drop in their songwriting, from which these "gazecliches" are stemming lately. This should be their last chance to prove that they know how to overcome these "gazecliches" - and deliver a consistent package of newer concepts.
nekkichi 6043 Posted May 9, 2015 can we just hope that this album is a step-up from garbage recycle pit that was beautiful deformity, m'gentlemen. tipping ur fedoras for u atm. 1 Des reacted to this
CAT5 9075 Posted May 9, 2015 spoiler: it will sound like gazette and everyone waiting for something "fresh" will be disappointed as usual. I have to agree. I highly doubt that DOGMA will showcase a new direction for the band. If anything, the differences between it and past works will be reduced to minimal nuances. While I think most of us would appreciate the gazette trying new things, I don't think the band has ever shown any outstanding indications of being prone to stylistic or compositional wanderlust. I also don't think that musical experimentation, or straying too far from their known formulas is something that's within the scope of their brand. With that said, I'm looking forward to hearing this one. I'd even be satisfied with a refined DIM. 1 evilcoconut reacted to this
nekkichi 6043 Posted May 9, 2015 I'll be p. happy if it has a good couple of bops (think suicide circus/derangement) and some chizuru/guren grade drama pieces, and maybe some ok filler, think RED or smth like that. I miss catchy gazette a lot tbh, this preview track is nice so far. 1 jduv86 reacted to this
-Helios- 6 Posted May 9, 2015 I agree on a lot of points and I start to believe these conversations are going a lot deeper then a lot of other VK band fans would go haha (which I mean possitive it means GAZE 'fans' are being forced to think about a lot of elements) I understand a lot of the points people point out in this topic but for me it is a little bit different. The chord progressions in choruses of a lot of gaze songs (which is like a low chord a high chord, a higher chord then the low one and then again a higher chord of the high chord) is being used a LOT indeed. But for me that is just the 'GAZE' sound. I like it that those same kinda chord progressions come forth in a lot of different songs. Ballads, Heavy songs, dramatic songs. All the songs have a different kind of feel but with the same GAZE elements. I get that some people find this repetitive. But for me that is just the GAZE sound. The same is with Kai his drums. the fast (kick snair kick kick snair) like in sludgy cult. the end of tomorrow never dies, it is being used in Venomous spider, and so on and so on. It dates all the way back to akai one piece and miseinen. Whenm t i hear this for me it is like that is the GAZE sound and I wouldn't like them to change it because they have used it so often. Also the choruses of GAZE never have dissapointed me and I like every song they have made. But this being said I get some people would find it anoying that when you listen an overall setlist of gazette you will indeed hear a lot of the same kind of things. For me it works but like I said i get people who may find this annoying.I personally can't wait to have more GazettE songs to listen to and I really can't wait till August !Also maybe a factor and I think this is being said a lot is the harsh record company deals. It is known that Japanese bands (esspecially when it is a band that earns the companies a lot of money) have to work beyond there limits. Sometimes it results in bands not getting the chance to evolve and stay in a ceritain drag to deliver. For GazettE I think they pull it off but it also results a lot of band going on a break or disbanding. And let´s hope the GazettE isn't going to do one of the two any time soon. 1 relentless reacted to this

This shouldn't even be an issue at this point though. If this was during the 1 album per year phase then yes. BD came out in october of 2013 and then all of a sudden, the band went quiet, besides the various live stuff they've been doin. Its safe to assume that Sony isn't up their ass atm. There should be progression.

nekkichi 6043 Posted May 11, 2015 their concept shifted from anti-war/pacifism on disorder to nameless liberty on NIL, so dogma will probably mean coming back with more power or smth like that, check illuminati references since signing with sony. august release and sony marketing just getting stronger this time. it will be the BEST joke ever if dogma will be their worst album to date with a NIL re-release during same year and one good track that leaked in full already as a live recording. 1 Elazmus reacted to this
Pretsy 1343 Posted May 11, 2015 Another interesting, perhaps even unveiling (?) gazette twitter post by Reita (who rarely tweets anything + transl. by courtesy of gazettenoura@twitter): Reita: today we recorded some cries from our souls. I screamed too much and my voice may be gone for the next 2,3 days. but that's ok. you guys doing good? More gang vocals?

nullmoon 784 Posted May 12, 2015 Ugh, NIL. So outdated now. I don't think I really clicked with this album. I just find it really boring. I'll probably get stoned for this, but I think Stacked Rubbish is where they actually started to get interesting. nekkichi 6043 Posted May 13, 2015 this is so funny, because I prefer nil over any other gazette album, even DIM had more awful filler in comparison tbh, and that one was an ~artful~ gazette peak with not enough promo-budget for PVs and stuff.
CAT5 9075 Posted May 13, 2015 NIL was the first gazette release that really stuck with me, and as such, it has a nostalgic grip on me. Though my actual favorites from the band are DIM and BD. 1 doombox reacted to this

Same, except NIL is still one of my favorite albums next to Stacked Rubbish. It's all been pretty much downhill from there, for me. But this Dogma hype is getting to me, and I'm anxious to see if they are gonna change it up at all.
Elazmus 1873 Posted May 13, 2015 I have to agree GazettE should load these re-releases with remakes and rearranges of old songs (which everyone will probably hate) but same with bands that are known for remix their songs like Diru and RES, if even one of them is cool it's worth it.
