None of the songs are original. Well, even if it were new songs, they still wouldn't be "original".

Some more La:Sadie's stuff and magazines. This means that the following La:Sadie's shows have been released sometime ago:

[the first three were allegedly sold for the first time on 20.12.1996, that could explain the different CD pictures]
13.08.1996 - Maebashi Ratan (no pics available)
14.08.1996 - Kumagaya Vogue (one song leaked)
    16.08.1996 - Niigata O-DO
20.08.1996 - Ichikawa CLUB GIO (two songs leaked)
29.08.1996 - Osaka amHall (completely leaked, often mislabeled as LS' last live)
    30.08.1996 - Osaka amHall

    I've also added La:Sadie's to setlist.fm: https://www.setlist.fm/setlists/lasadies-7bd6c2b0.html
Some entries even have setlists, but most are empty, of course^^

Most people would say that TIW is mastered poorly. It just doesn't sound good, regardless of the quality of the songwriting. This is unbiased objectivity, not influenced by personal feelings. But this is what we got, so we have to deal with it.

Objectively, perhaps VINUSHKA, DIABOLOS, and Zetsusentai all have a similar structure, and are therefore increasingly more tedious. It's like DEG have no new ideas anymore when they phone in the obligatory 'epic' on the album.

Subjectivity is an individual's opinion. I personally think that the long version of DIABOLOS is far better. The demo feels like a bog-standard song. The album version is like a journey.

Zetsusentai is maybe a bit too close to VINUSHKA, structurally. Although, it does have plenty to enjoy aside from that minor niggle. In the same way, Sustain the untruth is a rip-off of FILTH. Which it kinda is, but it's its own thing, too, and they both have their own merits that distinguish themselves from each other.
It might be intentional. For example, the main riff from DIABOLOS is recycled throughout Kaishun, and a chorus motif from Kasumi is recycled in HIGEKI HA MABUTA WO OROSHITA YASASHIKI UTSU.

The band is over 20 years old. One has to expect a few songs to feel or sound similar. At this point, I'm just glad we're still getting new material.

Somehow Kyo is my favorite thing about DEG and my least favorite thing about sukekiyo. He sounds fine when he’s singing normally but I really really really fucking hate the obnoxious fake screaming breathing/coughing/wheezing/whispering mouth sounds that he does that ruin half the music. I love his clean vocals and his actual harsh vocals but good god he makes some annoying noises in this band. It would be cool if it was once in a while but he uses that weird old man whisper yelling thing on damn near every song on Adoratio. I’ve never had a problem with his harsh vocals in DEG, in fact I love them. I just can’t stand the way he does them in this band. However I do have some hope for the future since Gerbera and that demo song from January both had traditional harsh vocals that didn’t sound like nails on a chalkboard.

Die almost always has a fan in front of him  to get that blowing hair effect. Again, probably another aspect of his stage presence that was inspired by Cipher.

I thinks it obvious that when she said "super popular" she didn't said "mainstream". Meji was, of course, never to hit Tokyo Dome someday like Sid or AKB48 do, but that doesn't take off the fact that they had very decent levels of popularity, at least within the scene. They actually rocked Koukkaidou, Blitz, Studio Coast and Yagai Ongakudou all by themselves, way more than what every indie vk artist can actually achieve in their life-time.

Okay, so I admit the full version sounds better. Still, it bothers me that, as people have already mentioned in this thread, the bassist is obviously fake-playing. They're all just trying to sell a hit song and be done with it. You know what I really don't get, though? Why MiA's even doing this. I mean, yeah, for the money, but... why? He already got super popular with MEJIBRAY, so I don't see how he thinks this will represent him any more positively than that or make him any richer. I know he's easy to make fun of - hell, I did it in my last comment - but he's better than this. Say what you want about his nose job and what-have-you, but he has talent and he's wasting it.

It would be interesting if any of the users above can tell why they think the band they are bringing on can be considered "unique".

From my experience of almost a decade listening to vk, I think the bands with the most unique sound (and overall concept) are the ones that stay in the fandom as the big ones, because they were the bands that contributed to define the estructures of the look, sound, lyrics, performance, etc. that make of vk a stablished and recognizable scene/genre. Sometimes I think it's not that hard to stand out with a creative proposal in this scene, since one of its core atributes since the early times was being vastly plagued of cheap copy-cats (what nowadays it went to the extreme of the parody, and made a genuine subgenre from itself: what in this lands they call "homage-kei").

In this direction, it would be really interesting to trace the different genealogies of sound, visuals, etc. within the scene. For example: the lines of power-metal bands from X; the goth lines of D'erlenger and Kuroyume (then hardcore-punk); the neoclassical line (Malice Mizer, Lareine, Raphael) etc.

Ban me from this forum and from listening to any VK period. I didn’t like Mejibray, but the results of them disbanding and splintering off into cringe-kei nonsense makes me wish they just stayed together and continued phoning it in.
