How do you guys recommend moving/backing up nearly 9000 songs? I'm terrified of losing my library if I don't find a way to move them.

I had the same problem recently and yes an external is probably the best route.
1tb should be more enough.

External and I use a service called Backblaze to store them digitally as well.
