I guess as far as neo-soul, you have some obscure artists like Hanah Spring, tamala, and maybe ovall, but these acts are few and far between and the quality of it can often be questionable lol. And broken-beat/nu-jazz fused with post/math-rock? With some sweet-ass vocals? ffffffffffffffffffffffffffff. That definitely needs to be a thing...my ears wouldn't be ready. And that would be ok.

LOL, smh...this song seems to have become the bane of Robin Thicke's career...I think it's pretty obviously inspired by Marvin, but it's not a direct copy. It's unfortunate that people are so nitpick-y and money-hungry, but that's the way the cookie crumbles...people are vultures and figures as public as Thicke automatically have targets on their backs. Things haven't been looking too good for Robin lately in general tho...and it looks like he just unintentionally abdicated his "blue-eyed soul" throne to the likes of Sam Smith ^__^;

I think he's referring more so to the music industry, and not rock as a genre - and if that's the case, then I agree with him. Any mildly curious person with internet access would be able to tell that rock isn't dead, but the spirit of rock, the spirit of DIY musicians, and artistic integrity is definitely pretty dead within the industry. None of this is really news, though.
