oh - it's a remix by someone affiliated with her european label (I vaguely remember the dope stars, but I never cared for them), she doesn't do guitar arrangements and generally sounds like this: I'm still very sad she never had a lasting career because her entire niche got filled with Amanda Palmer and her reductive clownery.

so I've posted this in the vk popularity thread a few days ago and today I'm accidentally stumbling up this glorious gothic lolita queen: her first globally-released album came out in Europe first despite being recorded in the US, with a 3rd press released through starwave mail order & limited 10 copies the end records; she played with Courtney Love and a bunch of other Real musicianS which you can look up on wiki and for the past 10 + years she only does theatre w/o venturing into music. which probably has some correlation to how VK would have been received in an imaginary scenario with US music industry picking up on it same way game dev used to do with wEirD'n'QuIRkY Japanese games in early 2000s.

**mangay Kaori Yuki and CLAMP era manga stans and hormonal l'arc en ciel yaoi larp-girls overlapped a good decade (if not two tbh) ahead of the widespread gazette shipping which was also p much v-keis peak in Japan as well, the moment manga artists dropped the moaning BL angel aesthetics it all went south for the music scene too

they didn't lose any either & wouldn't gain any new fans out of the disgusting homophobic cloaca that is american metalhead fandom; like literally the point I lost interest in the western white pig music scene was when a (married het) frontman from d*goba posted a halloween pic with guyliner on his bands IG and the moment aint shit comments from north america started flowing in he deleted the picture without telling the idiots to piss off. I don't think lycaon or whoever was relevant in 2008 VK would have gotten much paying following out of the same breed of stans - they won't even know how to crowdfund their tour van if it got broken into in tenessee. boo hoo bruised ego twat

the tea is vk gradually lost most of those over past ten years and it didn't benefit genres popularity neither domestically nor abroad, which is still a v. good point, an average vk chanteuse is really hard to ingest for someone not mentally invested in like theater or something (which average metalheads probably wouldn't really obsess over?.. idk I have a very low opinion of westen rock/metal stans which keeps continuously degrading due to this boards infestations with murican dirubros.)

vk won't become the next k-pop because it's not even that big in Japan to start with and there're no major parties interested in funding and representing it; a whole bunch of social phobias in the west (the entire racism>xenophobia>homophobia>otherization mental umbrella that american mass culture is built on) is also not helping it, but there's a good chance a random japanese VK act will unexpectedly obtain cult status completely accidentally, by mere combination of talent, theatrical game, and charisma buy underfall justice on closet child x

vk band on a major label syndrome. there're younger and less accomplished bands doing exactly that, and I don't really blame lynch for turning their sound into what you've described. having no advance hype for their releases really helps digest whatever they come up with nowadays.
