There also seems to be like a 4 year lag on this genre discussion because it's not like metal-core just became a thing, nor did it just become the en vogue trend for vkei (which it's moving away from anyway. Queue the kyopera and attempts at switching time signatures). About the sample video, it just sounds like a generic female-fronted animu opening. Their producers may have felt this direction would increase sales, but it's hard to say without seeing comparisons. There's usually less people complaining about a change in sound like than there are people actually buying their stuff, and in the end that's all that really matters. As for exist trace, their only good songs are "Resonance" and "Vanguard." Sorry.
  2. Seeing pressed Beyonce stans write disortations over how noble Kanye is is the best thing ever. So much anxiety and tears

Although I wish Morning Phase was more fun, it would be nice to hear him peak his head back out of the mellow folk rock box again

Is the point of this to encourage more news from people who aren't Trombe, i.e. more Japanese rock news from different scenes? I'm not seeing how tagging things with a different colored prefix is going to inspire that. I don't really see how having its own sub-forum would fix the issue either, as it would just make another bucket for the same lack of content. What I'm saying is, the actual root of the issue is the users, not the tool.
  4. idk that sounds like a typical vkei breakup, so I wouldn't be surprised if that was part of the schtick
  5. My friend just said she doesn't want to take an Uber because the drivers are mostly black guys in my neighborhood??? Literally not her biggest fan at all right now.

This is on top of coming back to my place with my boyfriend super drunk at 3 AM, then asking me to drive her rental car somewhere to park it so it doesn't get a ticket she can't afford. She was supposed to leave before 6 because she left her alarm clock on or something and needed to turn it off before her apartment building kicks her out for being so loud (she's deaf, so she has one of those super sonic pillow shaking alarms that are fucking terrifying (side-note: dated a deaf guy...

all I see is just another reason not to use uber for her tbh, but I mean...well... I don't come back home at 3 am unless I've been traveling and I am not deaf and I clutch my p*ssy very tight if I have no proper taxi money on me

Oh cool, now I'll have been able to see both of Versailles' bassists play. Is Meku also coming to the US? There's no destination next to his name.

Going to throw in my tl;dr input on this album, since god knows we need to be less verbose than Setsuna was: +: -Musicianship has definitely increased since his earlier works. A lot of different influences are present here, as well as an effort to really try to be more than just blast beats and screaming with some harpsichord smeared on top -Most of the songs are encapsulated in their own mood-setting intros so it doesn't feel like this all bleeds together -: -Too much of point one. I'm going to make a Drag Race reference here and compare this album to Jade Jolie during episodes 1~4: whenever she came out on stage, most of her criticism she recieved was that she had a vision in mind, but instead of sticking to it she kept tacking on accessories until she probably didn't have anything left in her closet. There's a distinct line between being complex and being serendipitous spaghetti. -Very rarely do I have the attention span for songs longer than 8 minutes. If I do, they have to have a lot of things going on that make me want to both listen to the whole thing and remember what happened throughout the whole song. None of the tracks on this album provide me with the will power to keep on plowing through. As I said in chat when I was first listening to this album, each track in and of themselves felt like I was listening to an entire album because of how much was crammed into them. -The wannabe-kyo struggle is too real. Comparatively, I have a much higher tolerance for bullshit vocals than Zess does. But there are points in this album where it goes from "ehh...he kinda missed that high note!" to "why the fuck is this whole section this high?" I get that people liked DSS for whatever reason and that it's the cool new thing to do, but at least know what your limitations are as a performer before attempting to do them. RIB has proven to be ignorant of his limitations on many occasions on this album alone. -I don't even know if I made it to tracks 6 and 7 lololol . I probably did, but they came on an hour after I started trying this album and by that point I was a bit VDAS'd out. All in all, it is safe to say that this album was disappointing. The album before this was great, and they still are my favorite touhou group, but this is the album I'm going to pretend did not happen. I think Zess' review provided a fantastic overview of what this album has to offer, and I shall condense into one word: "suffocating."

Saw parts of American Sniper--mostly just a little kid getting his knees drilled and enough of it to see that this movie is too straight / pro-murika for me to want to watch.

I seem to only like what they've done since ガゼルバベル

All I really know is that every circle likes to fuck up this song save 2 examples I can think of
  13. Peace Heavy mk II

tbh not complaining they never released it :x
  14. Peace Heavy mk II

Do they have any other live-only songs that haven't been released yet? I know "Bondage" used to be one.
  15. Peace Heavy mk II

I kind of liked this. If they're like Nega but without vocals that make me feel like my ears were being sexually harassed by a oleaginous slug, then I could get into this.

Had a feeling news would be coming soon, as they were posting a lot of new merch and logos and stuff on Twitter. Yaasss @ stealing Diru's Raisen Detre puppet aesthetic, but lmao @ how the "hanged person" looks like floating ghost sneakers. 2 spook'd Hard to tell what samples are what since they jumped around a lot, but I think I liked the Fake and 操リ人間. Zetsubou sounded like the the part they cut out of their 刑法第39 demo. Curious to know more about their mini-album: love those.

^ "愛怨忌焔" is part "血染めの喜劇" by Madeth Gray'll and "化猫" is part "Damage" by Baiser, but at least the second one is obscure enough that it took me a while to realize it.

While the occasional song/band does it for me, I can agree. Not really my thang, at least in its "purest" form.

Try putting some on while you're studying/reading/working...it'll be background music, but you'll be surprised what your ears/brain might do. It might just "click" with you one day out ofthe blue. It might not. Either way, exposure never hurts.
