this is my first post, but i'll spare intros haha! anyways - i have some magazines i scan, so i thought it would be nice to share, for all of the oldschool fans. this volume is from march '93; main event is the long seth et holth tusk + hide feature, but as with any shoxx, the whole volume is full of content -- i love those shots of Gargoyle especially. here's a mega link to the numbered raw HQ scans right here : ) these are a little colour corrected.
 
i'll scan the rest of this, then vol. 29, 5 and 7 at some point. and yes! some of the scans are a bit messed up, that will be fixed at some point lmao.

A man from Nara had been arrested on October 22 on suspicion of fraud after reportedly scamming his in-laws for thousands of yen by impersonating Kyo, the frontman of Dir en grey and Sukekiyo. 39 year old Yoshikazu Kasahara was able to fool the family of his common-law wife into believing he was the prolific singer and scammed them for what would amount to 54 million yen (roughly 515,268 US dollars). He had previously been arrested three times (!!!) for scamming a previous lover's family for a total of around $24k and for assault.
 
A longtime fan of the band's, Kasahara was apparently so committed to this gimmick that he even told his mother 10 years ago and gave her concert tickets to see "him" perform, when in reality he was actually unemployed. He even got identical arm and neck tattoos as Kyo himself and would find time to leave home on the days that Dir would be performing. He would even state that Dynamite Tommy, the owner of Free-Will, had taken his bank book, which is why he frequently demanded money.

This was an incredibly difficult exercise. Tough to define your music tastes with just 5 artists. I tried selecting artists that cross a lot of genres or have a fairly diverse discography. But I think it can be summed up as:

Yeah, I don't talk to her anymore for a reason. She was really hard on the social justice stuff, to the point of it being basically offensive to minorities (me again, when she said I am merely a "tanned white person"--like OK, cool, I wish the people who've called me out for being "too dark" to be white or who asked me "what I am" held the same view). I understand that there are harmful stereotypes surrounding East Asian people appearing as indistinguishable and as the same, but even if I was perpetuating the stereotype, name calling does not help anyone nor their beliefs look credible. Oh... I wish I could've told her that before I cut ties.

As usual Japanese bands have no concept of the idea of "rare videos".
