They are already dead as a band for a long time, so not a big loss for the scene

Very explicitly worded but you have a point there.

It's been obvious since their BUTTERFLY single releases that they are pretty much in it for the sake of bigger "superstar" funds ( rather than being in sync with each other like back in the "good old days". God knows whether they actually have anything left from all that 90s-early 00s chemistry.

Maybe not an immediate Kaisan but call it another 5-10 years of deep idgaffy silence.

That is an amazing line up. Has nearly all the bands I mentioned in my post from September except for heidi. Love that TBH and BAND-MAID are involved. I follow nearly every band there. Awesome.

Oh, I see there are still four names there... Maybe heidi is involved or did they manage to get something totally unexpected like L'arc or BT.

I would be surprised if NO ONE from L'Arc was involved in this tribute tbqh

At least Ken should join in - or maybe him and Hyde for that matter.

Considering that some specific "hardcore"-oriented metal/rock acts were noted there (ROACH etc.), it's more likely that FALILV might be involved too.

  3. Dear Monochromiums,

Whenever you (well, based on my personal experience) happen to fuck up in the past, or even now by chance in case you let your emotions, passions and all that weakling shizznit cause reckless actions in your life, remember:

Make sure to do better damage control than this guy.

their solo careers have always been different from luna sea though, so I don't see how one could draw a conclusion on the new album based on what the members are doing on their own?

they still produced lunacy when J was doing his weird punk-ish stuff, inoran doing his alternative-rock thingy, and ryuichi became a popidol for grandmoms.

but yes, you shouldn't expect a new "mother" or "style" that's for sure.

We cannot argue that Lunacy had that obvious "heavily westernized" (compare: STYLE) direction which was more or less based on what J was cooking by then. A VISION, TONIGHT, CRAZY ABOUT YOU (take Ryuichi out and you have slightly post-grungey track), even Sweetest Coma Again were the prime examples and perhaps at this point good calls to why I *care* about their solo careers and their contextual relation to the band catalogue.

Believe me, their individual ordeals matter - as much as it was given for any other stadium rock act and separate solo careers, LS isn't any different in regards to songwriting antics.

  5. Let's see how's it going for each LS member at the moment:

J is even more boring, poor man's Dave Grohl as of lately - he cannot pen anything decent ever since he fired that Franz guy

Inoran is still the same so his songs won't do much except for succeeding to bring you dem lukewarm feelings

Sugizo is gonna do more violin-gull stuff w/ his Juno reactor-influenced mumbojumbos

Ryuichi is the schmaltzmaster (good/bad? Be the judge)

    Shinya is just N/A

    Yup, no big hopes tbh.

Why do I even bother talking about stuff other than Japanese music? I don't know much about anything else, lol. :tw_joy: #weeblife

Honestly speaking this and perhaps a few things here and there outside of our weeb joys (western music, maybe - we do have a metal section with frequenting members eh) should be the only fields of social topics for MH social foraging. We've had too much of unreasonable shit, flak and bad blood left even to this day due to highly varying stances per each socio-political topic outside of Jayrawk talks.

Maybe you guys should listen to certain critic figures, musicians - the hell, even comedians (since they are these so-called purveyors of widely accepted netizen ideas) akin to Kevin Hart who agree on such irrelevant topic intrusions just causing further alienation in our target audience - japanese music fans, that is.

Think what you want to think, but mind subject relevancy if you want to have the same good ol' bunch of "really hot people" participating and keeping the forum alive.

he works with w/e budget they give him, this way no1curr hennies of kizu get better videos than naito with fucking avex handling their promotion & marketing

also, none of his websites mention sukekiyo

lol so it's the same studio that fucked up his euqaristia release never delivering on the videos, nice

Oh, I just thought of Kondo in an instant due to how closely he is tied to anything Dir en grey or Firewall div. for that matter (incl. Kyo?) #protectionism

Mika's studio being involved merely makes it much worse than how Tora (?) decided to have his hands on A9 PVs as of lately, yikes.

  8. So many sour overreactions over new Paramore (not surprised about OP tbqh). It's about damn time these mid-late 00s teenagers were about to do something else outside of their box of angst rallies. This may be the kind of logical step forward in the mainstream pop/rock scene if we consider earlier pop records like CRJ's EMOTION etc.

Arca seems to be a grower in light of how I initially deemed his previous shots to be too just carbon takes on Autechre and alike. My relation to anything Mac Demarco, especially his new jams, should be given already - I am the elevator muzak guy so I digest pretty much anything he shoots out lol.

Oh, and Death Grips too - I have "meme stuff" catalogued too whenever I want to have something funny but fascinating bang anthems, and they were there to offer "Steroids" EP and kill my earsight for good...okay I kid, I dug it somehow. Why such skepticism?

2017 could be the final nail in my coffin of metal amusement so whether it is something akin to new Full of Hell or even noisier, I might not be signing up anymore.

Might as well admit after a couple of years that I am not really enjoying these bemusing political palettes in musical expression anymore - are they really that serious about replacing *depth* of their material with such pretentious garbage? What are even music and lyrics together at this point? Spare me your futile microaggressions, ffs.

@jaymeeThere's also an idea that the Star of David is used in occultists rituals, but I don't know to what extent

Some food for thought from christian conspiracists a la "Triumphpro" w/ some literary references  (let's hear some opposite opinions as well since it's more likely that Gackt looked into these words for sensationalism)

    Quote

"The so-called “Star of David” is essentially a “hexagram,” nothing more, nothing less.  There is no Biblical or Jewish evidence that traces this ancient occult symbol with king David of Israel.  However, there is evidence that it was used by king Solomon, after he turned to pagan gods and the occult, late in his life, causing God to become very angry with him .

A Masonic book called The Second Mile, an Eastern Star book, reveals that the “six pointed star is a very ancient symbol, and one of the most powerful.”  The hexagram is used in magic, witchcraft, sorcery and occultism and the casting of zodiacal horoscopes by astrologers.  “It was considered to posses mysterious powers,” says A Concise Cyclopaedia of Freemasonry.

The six pointed star is used as a “stand-by for magicians and alchemists.  The sorcerers believed it represented the footprints of a special kind of demon called a trud and used it in ceremonies both to call up demons and to keep them away” (O. J. Graham, The Six Pointed Star, New Puritan Library, 1988, p.35).

Says Masonic and Occult Symbols Illustrated, by Dr. Cathy Burns, “The Hexagram is formed by united the Water Triangle with the Fire Triangle, which is the Six-pointed Sart, Star of David, Solomon’s Seal, etc.  When the two triangles (the ‘Water Triangle’ and the ‘Fire Triangle’) are joined together into one symbol, it forms a six pointed star known as a double triangle, hexagram, Crest of Solomon, star of the microcosm and the Shield of David, among other names.  It is even called the ‘talisman of Saturn’” (p.38).

    ...

The hexagram also has a sexual connotation.  It represents sexual union.  The triangle pointed downward is a female symbol and the triangle pointed upward is the male symbol; when they are interlaced it represents coitus, or sexual union of the active and passive forces in nature.  A former witch reveals, “When the male triangle penetrates the female triangle it produced the six pointed crest of Solomon or hexagram, the most wicked symbol in witchcraft” (Burns, ibid., p.39).

In fact, the hexagram was also used by the ancient Hindus in the worship of their divine “Trinity” – Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva – as the “unity” of three gods in one.  J. S. M. Ward adds that it is “strictly the sign of Trimurti, the Three in One, typifying the creative, preservative and destructive natures of the Deity.”

We do know that Japanese in overall do not really give a flying fuck about "threatening" religious correctness, right? Not just another VK gimmick that is.

  10. Whether you liked grunge or not (I know, very stigmatic scene in overall among most rock/metal listeners), you cannot argue that Chris Cornell was one of a kind among vocalists of the grunge generation - to the point where he may have impressed tons of older key music figures. I used to enjoy him among other grunge acts thru my active MTV digestion back in my adolescent heydays (gotta get this out of my chest because seriously, fuck any concept of "genre cred"), so even with long time span of no listens in my weeabooish comfort zone, this news still sucks hard to me tbqh. I normally do not give such comments for the sake of "oh some known musician X died, I must listen to them now" fad - I give them out due to these fleeting moments of my bittersweet nostalgia, and what may have defined my liking and approach later on. Weiland leaving us first, and now this...:(

    RIP man.

  11. So many hyperboles here, yass spill your emotions and slay that masculine mediocrity

Okay, we had enough of this shitposting:

Wagakki Band: I had hopes for their success seen as how talented were they in interpreting vocaloid chunez to "click" with more ordinary mensch. Even so, they haven't really moved anywhere and their original catalogue is not far off from what they were as a cover band. Try to guess the endgame.

Lareine: oh my, Carm stopped liking BONJOUR HONEY?! Okay, no one gives a flying fuck - well me neither, nor does my ear close in for previous fav jams off their first major album. Once you learn to realize that it all falls down for being nothing short of weak, cosplay carbon French pop - except in Nihongo - you will drop off quickly once you get to know more dedicated chaps of this art and practice.

Seiko Oomori: she was dying out very quickly as a funny meme - think of bad imageboard memes that last for a few threads only.

Wednesday Campanella: these aped jersey beats won't drive focusing listeners any closer tbqh - the prime definition of "I am a Coachella fanboy and I listen to Japanese quality stuff, here take a listen"- mediocrity.

Grimes: she was dying out very quickly as a (funny) meme [2]

Daoko: she was dying out very quickly as a (funny) meme [3]

In overall, whether non-Japanese or something I can understand:

Most of US-based hip hop acts circa late 2000s /2010s: Excuse me and my straightforward confessions but there's a fucking limit for every case of N-bombing replacing notions of legit expressionism (we all recognize white newbie Kendrick/Migos fans being exposed to such material avec conflicted thoughts on how to relate etc.).  It's not like you are hearing "white music" pioneers or current bandwagoners screaming their lungs out about crackers being filthy rich, ffs. Very rude opinion, yes, but had to say it anyway because music has been connected to any possible -ism and your mother just for the sake of more explicit bandwagoning, and not about enjoying art and practice as it is.

Neue Deutsche Härte: "toxic masculinity" is something I loathe as a manmade concept by tumblristas attempting to exploit joys of art but these guys jamming in aforementioned scene these days are doing damn good job in proving things otherwise. So fucking tacky, ugh.

  12. Something tells me that these Dir stans and VK stans have never ever even touched acts outside of their comfort zone a la akin to Rurutia, Haco etc.

@Ro plzsaid it well: guys, your kneejerk reactions should be defo toned down or we'll reach the point where these guys are not allowed to do effing anything

Just what exactly would be "not cringey" according to your standpoints, hm?

  13. @Zeus:

I am pretty sure you might have wanted to mention this too in light of your Unknown.../G comparison:

Hyena had its clues from G. too and "G." on the other hand was more or less inspired by Luna Sea's senpais and their similarly upbeat, very rocking number "Miscast" (X, ofc)

    Also:

    Choruses...and a bit more

Someone should also confirm this typical Japanese melomaniac claim that Gackt took "Another World" from Josie and the Pussycats' " Three Small Words". Not saying that pop punk would be the haven for unique songcraft but he has a lot of things to explain tbqh...

  14. Seems like Mondo Grosso made his comeback with a new single not a long time ago (around late April):

Not sure how many monochromiums used to follow Shinichi but I guess@CAT5might be down with his current plans.

  15. There is only one pianist/vocalist who goes under MOA -pseudonym (both latin and katakana, Moametal uses her full name outside of BM) and she would be 内田もあ (Uchida Moa) - google her. Considering Shinya, her presence might be the most plausible one if anything.
