Rahzel reacted to secret_no_03 in Minimalism
Minimalism has become a bit of a trend in the United States with the rise of Marie Kondo's Netflix series about helping Americans tidy up their homes, several years after she took off in Japan with her two books and Fumio Sasaki's hit book Goodbye Things as well as the Minimalists documentary on Netflix as well. I've watched Marie's shows, watched the documentary, listened to the audio book and read Goodbye Things as well as the two Minimalists books, their podcast, Matt D'Avella' s YouTube channel and podcast (he directed the minimalist documentary and their sequel that's coming out next year.) as well as several Japanese youtubers like Shibu, Takeru, SHOPPIN, MIYOSHI and more.

Along the way I've gotten rid of hundreds of DVDs, CDs, at least fifty items of clothing, a few game consoles and all kinds of games and more and I've begun to read a lot more, listen to a lot more podcasts, movies and other things that I used to not have the patience for, so I suppose you could say to take a phrase from Jordan Peterson, I "cleaned my room" and my mind cleaned up with it. It makes sense because it's a proven fact that clutter can make you depressed, and over the course of several months my girlfriend and I have gotten rid of plenty of things we don't need, constructed a whole new cleaning routine and are enjoying each other's company and appreciating it more. I still have hiccups from time to time, but I haven't purchased a video game in probably six months, only splurged once on CDs, but I have had a few impulse buys; but it's a process. Over time I've also learned that you don't have to throw everything away because the point is to get rid of what doesn't have any meaning or value to life and replacing it with things you actually care about and bring joy and meaning to your life. Minimalism isn't the solution, it's a game plan and a template to becoming a happier, more fulfilled, and content version of yourself. Minimalist isn't your identity, just like your objects are not your identity either. The whole point is to find out who you really are when things are stripped bare and you remove all of these things that you THINK make you who you are. 😊

-I've attached a talk that Fumio Sasaki did for the New York City Japan Society in 2017 where he talked about his journey and his book.

Rahzel reacted to Aferni in The "Vk Common Name" Playlist Game
So because I do nothing with my spare time besides smoke and listen to visual kei bands, I devised a time wasting game. Vk has alot of common titles and common themes because duh but I figured why not make a game out of how many times you hear or see these phrases and lump them in several playlists.

I decided to make a playlist for every song that has the following criteria, songs of the same name like "Higanbana" or "xxx"
    - Songs that have the "KIEROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" staple in them
    - All of Kyouki's "SEI YAI YA YA" or "ITAI ITAI ITAI" or whatever
    - A playlist of songs that use the same bridge
    - Playlists full of songs that are re:recorded
    - A playlist of songs where the vocalist says "Daruma San Ga Koronda, or XXX Ga Koronda"
    - A play list of songs where censored parts are replaced by the unicode x x x x x
    -Songs named Rengoku
    - Songs about Rabbits/Usagi
    - Songs named Sakura, Sakura No Uta or have Sakura in them
    - A play list of songs called THE END or starting with THE
    - Songs about Dolls/ that includes doll in the title. Kairai counts aswell

That was legit hard as fuck, if you were to ask me to do it over next week it would likely be completely different (except FLCL, that shit will always be a fav). oh btw I started watching anime in 1999 when I was around 7 years old.

    now i will include what I consider to be top 5 of all time, there's a important distinction between the two;

    Dragon Ball
    Kidou Senshi Gundam
    Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu
    Cowboy Bebop

(would probably throw evangelion in here somewhere as well as Akira if we are doing movies)

Loving the stuff being posted here. I'm slowly making my way through all the MVs

Wanted to add some more of my faves. A lot of MVs nowadays focus more on the singer showing off their face and outfits, so it can get a bit boring. What do we expect from the age of instagramses and tiktoks tho. It's not always necessarily a bad thing

Even if the focus is the band/singer, I prefer it when they're having fun, like this paiotsu PV where we get to see them  without make up and wearing just shorts and tank tops. It has a really nostalgic feeling.

    Today I picked Turkey
Since I stayed for like 4 months there I warmed up to their culture as I made my way into Asia
While pop and anatolian melody and folk music are their main attraction I mainly focused on their attempts on nu metal and alt metal and I picked from a band that I liked similariesd to Linkin park for their catchy and deep lyrics
MaNga is a band in Turkey formed in early 2000 a 5 piece band which mixes genres both local and international (alt rock metal anatolian and folk) the reason they're called manga is that they wanted a name that would mean universal manga gained fame after their debut albums lead single called "bir kadin cizeceksin" (you will draw a girl) which it's lyrics are very deep in a manner that it focuses on main problems of many people in their reaccuring moments in life and I really like it after their 2005 album in 2008 and 2009 they drop their sophomore album which was a massive success with singles as cevapsiz sorular (unanswered questions) and dunyanin sonuna dogumusum (born at the end of the world) their success caused them to be nominated in the eurovision contest before it went shit they were placed 2nd place with countries like UK and france placed their nominations on Turkey for their first ever English spoken song "we could be the same"

    "Unanswered questions"
Was a mysterious song which was shot in Prague Czech Republic similar to Linkin parks numb where they shot the entire video in Prague to
The acoustic guitar and piano followed by cello and faint violins give a drafty feeling as if being swept away by a breeze that doesent exist the songs lyricism speaks of solitude and loneliness as if no one share a thought like thyself
    The song is listed above

"bir kadin cizeceksin" (you will draw a girl)

Their lead single in their debut album which is a personal favourite
To understand this song an obvious translation is required which I'll do my best if anyone wants
The song is massive to its instrumental manners and the lyrics with genres and techniques that would sound cheesy but nailed quite surprisingly (rap nu metal anatolian etc)
But I have no idea to this day what the animation is supposed to mean

"dunyanin sonuna dogumusum" (born at the end of the world)

My favourite next to unanswered questions
Think this song as a continuation of the 1st album but more layers
The lyrics are about the cycle of people in their own make belief worlds and constant need of consuming (pornography, fashion, attention etc) while not explicitly related the lyrics semation is as one the world isint what we knew once was that everyones has their own degeneration if anyone asks I can translate it roughly

    We could be the same

The eurovision song that frankly deserved to be 1st place half of the 1st world European countries agree so why not
As a way of gratitude in a short time span the vocalist learned English so he could compose the lyrics

This is one of the bands that cought my eye in Turkey which I'm glad I gave any attention at all but finding a effort worth of this bands early days was really hard so I just gave up halfway instead I just decided to be a actual tourist and look around the country

I start school this winter and can't help but be really nervous, not really cus of covid, I would've been taking online classes anyway, it mostly has to do with my ability to do well. I won't let my brain scare me away but it's hard just to get out bed most days, and that's especially been the case this year. There's just a lot going on and I hope school with work and all this other shit won't take too much of a toll on my mental health. I generally manage my anxiety quite well but when it comes to stuff like this.. thinking about the future... it gets me super neurotic .. I know that's normal for anyone around my age but I just want to be prepared.

I think I'll be okay and that I can handle it, just need to stop ruminating on these catastrophes I've made up in my brain.

I always thought shipping real people is gross, even when I was younger. I do like to see band members with strong, healthy interpersonal relationships though. You know, being able to make edgy jokes, sharing food and going out to eat, working through roadblocks like sickness or multiple side projects. It's fun to watch behind-the-scenes stuff where they're clearly comfortable with each other and are great friends. A good inter-band relationship adds a lot to the band because even if you have an absolutely legendary but soulless, only-here-for-the-money group they're still gonna be less of a fun show than some noobs jammin' out together. Nothing sucks more than having a member who looks like he'd rather deep-throat his own guitar stock than be in the same room with the other guys (and I have seen guys with that look/body language, multiple times).

Rahzel got a reaction from ki11edb1th3qu33n in Is it okay if I just want to be in love with someone?
Uhm, this topic is pretty old but just to add to what has been said (particularly by these 2 last commenters, don't think I could have put it better - love yourself too!) in case anyone else is mulling over the same stuff - yes, in my opinion there is such a thing as wanting to "be in love with someone" but not "love someone". Being in love with someone means having an insurge of chemical substances that make you feel good swarming in your brain when you see or talk to your "crush" or whatever, and it's not really a sin to want to feel that just not "learn to love and make a life together" in the long term or whatever it is that people say. It is also okay to want rex (👀) but not to love or be in love with the one you're having it with IMO. And, furthermore, it is okay to be "in love" with someone and then once things do work out want to/learn to do the "love someone" thing and "building a happy life together" and whatnot too. Don't think any of that is too unusual.

If there is an invitation for me to get personal lol personally I want to be "in love" sometimes but wanting to "love someone" is a lot more convoluted and harder, in general. So what I think about it is more along the lines of "well, that'd be maybe nice (but is it even possible for me?)". Also, I am what kids nowadays call "romantic asexual" (meaning I don't hate the romance part, though it seems that I have been hating it more and more as of late, but I really don't like the "feeling someone else's body heat/saliva/whatevers" part of romancing) ... which is sort of how I ended up being a crazy bandom/kpop fangirl (tm) - being in love with celebs is just nicer, you can buy a hi-touch/m&g and they won't look at you weirdly as if you're someone they want to dominate or cause any drama if they realize you're happy over headpat/chatting as they get this 50 times a day on average. (this sounds tremendously bitter but i'm 100% srs) There are definitely many different ways of feeling and, well, no matter what "society" or other people may say it's really not a sin as long as you're not hurting anyone (which by the way you're more likely to do if you're faking it anyway).

As for joy and depression, well, not sure other people feel joy every day of their lives either. Sure I don't however considering that around 30% + of the world population are likely to suffer of an anxiety disorder (most likely depression) at some point in their lives and I've been prone to it forever I'm probably not a good example but I can tell you the same goes for most people I know. Maybe you're just in the "unlucky half" and some medication/meditation/therapy/life changes or whatever could do good, but it's not uncommon to not feel much joy either. (Not feeling any joy however can be a problem, sure, and for that there's whatever other commenters said!)

Love and relationships are a pretty complicated topic, but in my opinion you're better off doing things you love rather than trying to find someone to love. This way you will learn to grow yourself and be able to "love yourself" which is the most important person you need to love! If you can't make yourself happy you can't expect anyone else will be able to. And by doing the things you love and growing as a person, you're natural confidence (Even if it's quiet confidence, I don't mean you have to be arrogant and cocky to show confidence as that definitely ISN'T attractive) will attract people and if you're taking part in hobbies you enjoy, perhaps you'll meet someone who enjoys the same things and boom, you click and start building your relationship from there.
