i saw the messe promo video before reading this thread and when the fifth member came i was literally GAGGED so it was nice to come on here and read it was akinori
 
honestly...reo and hazuki are geniuses in how they handled the whole drama in the PR sense. they collaborated with incredibly high profile guests and that in turn brought their profile up as well, and they milked the ordeal for all that it was worth with the dramatic foreshadowing, intense apologies and just how open they made the situation. instead of shying away from it they really gave their fellow nihonjins a nice lil redemption tale and a lot of material (cue that insta video) to go with the spectacle. i think this is a japan/east asia specific thing but like, lynch rlly did go the extra mile

But the unplugged songs and the Before Construction ver. of DOZING GREEN are pretty damn amazing

dude's out of jail and lynch. got to collaborate with some stellar bassists this year, so it seems like a win/win situation to me. it's good everything is well now.

here's some info about Akinori's time away from the band for anyone curious about the circumstances leading up to this, as reported by a fan from the show last night and some rumor mill stuff that ended up being true or partially true:
 
 

At lynch.'s countdown show last night, Akinori appeared during the encore, and after an apology, announced he will be returning to the band.

You're joking, right? It took them six years to find a bassist that they liked enough to have him be an actual member of the band ...

I'm glad hes back, they seem to be good friends.

 - DIR EN GREY will announce a new album, and maybe a single to go with it
 - Royz, 己龍, and コドモドラゴン will all release new albums, one week apart from each other; the コドモドラゴン album will be pretty awesome, the Royz one will be br00tal but also boyband-ish, the 己龍 one will kind of suck and be obnoxious with the synthesised bullshit; there will be a formula to these albums
 - More on BP Records, their sound engineers will take the loudness war and The Art of Garbage Production Quality to a whole new level; they will not be fired for the atrocities they have been committing since ~2015
 - THE NOVEMBERS new album/mini-album because they have to

 - New 凛として時雨 album; Miyoko and Pierre will not shine enough on this album, TK will wrongfully hog the spotlight

Yeah, I've always felt the alt vocals version of Fukai was kinda lacking. It's not awful, just very mediocre/forgettable.
Amusingly, I seem to remember that six Ugly's remakes were met with some disdain at the time, particularly children, the original of which had only been released two years prior.
Fuckin' tricky men = Fuck kids are now/Fuck it's an owl. It's easiest if you just ignore the lyrics altogether. I treat them as gibberish for the most part. But he's been throwing English into the songs since they began, so...
 
Reiketsu Nariseba is still an awesome song.

According to their website, the contract with Koichi  ended on 2017.12.31. Koichi's Twitter account is now private and he deleted his pictures on his Instagram.  Mia is part of a new project.
