It’s Jan 3 and I am so upset. I was expecting it to be up on iTunes like all their other previous releases but alas it’s not.

VOS? lol na, it won't get an iTunes release. Not even half of their releases are on iTunes, tbh.

  2.

Edit: I should've watched the entire video, lol. This is the acoustic version, I'll upload the unplugged version now, lol.

    When did unplugged Rinkaku happen?

According to my information, it can be heard on Disc 2 of 「a knot」LIMITED -2012.10.10 SHIBUYA-AX-. I will dl it and look for it. :)

Well, it's just the last part of the song, but it can be heard during the "for 'a knot'" section. :)

  4. These songs were performed unplugged (but not released officially):

ザクロ (performed during TOUR07 THE MARROW OF A BONE PREMIUMLIVE)

悲劇は目蓋を下ろした優しき鬱 (performed during TOUR08 THE ROSE TRIMS AGAIN)

蟲-mushi- (performed during TOUR07 THE MARROW OF A BONE on 2007.12.25 at 新木場STUDIO COAST)

輪郭 (last part heard on disc II of 「a knot」LIMITED -2012.10.10 SHIBUYA-AX- during the "for 'a knot'" section)

304号室、白死の桜 (performed during TOUR07 THE MARROW OF A BONE on 2007.12.25 at 新木場STUDIO COAST) [I think I actually have a rip of this one at home, but I don't think it has leaked anywhere]

    and probably more :]

An unplugged version of 激しさと、この胸の中で絡み付いた灼熱の闇 doesn't exist, from what I can see. But there's a symphonic version, released on disc 3 of DSS@NB.

And this is the list of all(?) unplugged songs released as studio recordings:

    艶かしき安息、躊躇いに微笑み

    Conceived Sorrow
    The Pledge
    Undecided
    Agitated Screams of Maggots
    我、闇とて・・・
    Inconvenient Ideal
    Red Soil
    流転の塔
    Unraveling
    The Final
    Different Sense
    獣慾

I totally forgot about those... probably for good reason. Actually, every now and again I think about breaking out the original UROBOROS, but then I remember this horror and decide against it.

But the unplugged songs and the Before Construction ver. of DOZING GREEN are pretty damn amazing :o

  6. Yes I know, but back then it was different. Don't know why he thought he'd have to overdo it.

Another bad example would be the English version of GLASS SKIN and DOZING GREEN. xD

  7. How would a re-recording of CHILD PREY sound, though? imo, the songs that come from Kyo's Engrish phase are among their worst.

They're fun to sing along, but I'd never make a statement like @Furik about six Ugly. The title really fits those tracks.^^

I guess, nowadays, DEG's catalogue is like a "high-low-high-low-high" to me. They started of strong with MISSA/GAUZE, then they got weaker with MACABRE, Kisou and six Ugly, VULGAR and Wtd. got them coming back some, then they released TMOAB ._. buut then they steadily got back on track with the latest three albums and The Unraveling. ^_^

  8. I have some DEG stuff waiting in Japan as well, but I didn't want to risk anything being lost in the troubles of Christmas, so I'll give them the shipping order once NYE has passed^^

  9. The organ intro to INCONVENIENT IDEAL is pretty damn beautiful, especially with the background video *~*

On the other hand, even a year after its release, Utafumi is still a mess, live.

  10. I'm looking for rares, demos, promos etc. by DIR EN GREY. I'm also looking for promotional material from their indies days (flyer etc.).

    Preferably in Europe. :)

In my signature, you can find a link to my physical collection. I have some promos twice and might consider selling/trading them. :)

I'm interested in hearing the re-recorded songs, but otherwise, absolutely not! If it wasn't for the re-recordings, I wouldn't pay this comp any attention at all. I think this one will feel most 'bootleg-y' to me, with the stupid title and the poor tracklist. With the DECADE series, at least they remastered (nearly) everything, and did some edits to a few songs, instead of just copy/pasting everything.

If they were gonna re-record every song in the tracklist pre-2007, I think I'd be more interested.

VOS tracks are all remastered versions.

  12. While creating the relevant articles in my DEG-wiki, I noticed, the new Fukai version is the only new song we got ever since Utafumi...

I mean, there are two unnamed songs that were played during the mode of~ tours, but those haven't been released yet.

And EM,EM is not a new song. I mean, Fukai still has the old melody, somewhat, but new (or, new-ish) lyrics. So that's a new song in my book.

On a side note, what is Diru's obsession with "shot-in-one-take"? It's not that impressive and doesn't seem like a selling point. It's just them right?

It's just the Japanese go-to term for studio live takes. I'm pretty sure Western band do those too, they just don't call it anything special (I guess?).

  14. Just yesterday I listened to the remixes of that song. They both sound winter-y, especially if it's snowing where you are. Give them a try :]

As for re-recordings, I could've seen dead tree on that list.

And as for Kisou, I didn't like it for the longest time. When I really got into DEG, they had just released DSS and I was in my core-phase, so anything that sounded remotely electronic or different was a no-no for me.

But in the last months, I came to enjoy DEG's early days more and more, so now GAUZE is my favourite and I like Kisou a lot as well. But I can still see why one wouldn't like it. It sounds like in-between their VK-era and their western metal-era.

    1. Piano recorded by some random guy, probably

    2. Incoherent screams

Incoherent? Na. The lyrics are the same as the normal song.

And I'm not sure about the piano. Kyo said that the recording process was special, in some way.
