  1. Tereko trading is still a thing, but it's very hard to get into the scene for newcomers, especially those in the West. It's also very easy to get shunned in the scene.

Personally, I really don't like it when people hoard rarities just so that they have something that nobody else has. It's one of the highest forms of arrogance.

This does not only go for tereko, but also Western bootlegs (like rare video recordings, demos etc.). There are so many 90s Slipknot shows that won't ever see the light of the day, simply because whoever has them refuses to leak them .__.

But then again, I'm obviously not uploading my terekos for a similar reason: If I did, they'd lose their worth and I wouldn't be able to trade them for more^^

How did you get those recordings? I’d really like to hear those songs.

Some posters on Japanese boards are saying that the second song is called “I Can’t Love Myself.”

I trade them for other songs. :]

And yes, as I said, that's one of the lines on the screen during the performance. Same for Ranunculus (which is also clearly audible in the refrain).

  3. No, I have recordings of those songs.

The second song is "Punk is not dead", yes. Aside of "gone mad", the line "I cannot love myself" also appears on the screen.

No clue about backing vocals, but they're not credited, at least.

  4. The song they played at mode of DSS reminds me of "Bring them to light", tempo-wise. It's entirely guttural, too. There's a slower, more melodic part in the middle. ~3 minutes long.

The Tour18 song has Toshiya providing backing growls. Kyo mostly sings with his normal voice. Again, fast paced tempo with a slower section in the middle, Kyo growls here. Some crazy gibberish in the latter half. The chorus has this "climax" thingy to it, that Kyo does in some songs. ~3:30 long.

Ranunculus is a ballad. Very slow and melodic.

  7. Of course I can add to this topic as well :D

    For DIR EN GREY, it's:

SUSTAIN THE UNTRUTH: Deity => MACABRE. I can't listen to Deity without expecting MACABRE to follow.

UROBOROS -with proof in the name of living-: dead tree => INWARD SCREAM => HYDRA -666-. Probably the heaviest combination I can think of. Can't find INWARD SCREAM online, though. 😕

Rinkaku: mazohyst of decadence => Tsumi to Batsu. Probably the darkest combination I can think of, considering the lyrics of both songs.

  8. I second the UROBOROS / DSS post and want to add that in general, DIR EN GREY's releases in their most complete form (so to speak) always have very nice packaging and extras.

Honourable mentions go out to the a knot releases, they came in a cardboard box in the past. If such a release is sold with the cardboard box included, it drives up the price by at least 2000 JPN, most of the time.

Also, shout-out to the It withers and withers -Bootlegged- release that came in a round metal container:

Edit: I also just realised that this is not exactly a box set... oh well, whatever^^'

  10. I... am not entirely sure who's doing what on the best of album, but if the new singer is singing the old songs, then... it doesn't fit at all.

It sounds like the album was made by a cover band... the screams are so raspy, it's making my ears bleed xD

They also absolutely butchered "FREEDOM"... oh man... anyway, here's the member list for each song:

SAIKA - Vocals on tracks 1-10 and 12-15

RYU - Guitar on tracks 1-15

    G.S.R - Guitar on tracks 1-15

Yakky - Bass on tracks 1-15

    YASU - Drums on tracks 1-4, 8 and 15

    Former members:

AKI - Keyboard on tracks 1-15
    RYO - Bass and/or Vocals on tracks 2 to 4, 7, 10, 11, 13 and 15

    SADEW - Vocals on tracks 3-6, 9, 11 and 13-15

KiKi - Vocals on tracks 12 and 14
GAMI - Drums on tracks 5-7 and 14

Violator - Drums on tracks 9-13

So basically it's an entire fckfest and most of the songs sound shit. 13 & 14 are okay...ish.
