I remember I used to like the drums used in AvelCain songs.
Now that snare sample is annoying me to death, dear gods. Why didn't they just stop using samples when Byou joined?
-
I think it's funny when people talk about how much soul and passion old school Hip Hop had... on a 2 Live Crew video. I mean, I love old school way better than new school myself... but 2 live crew?
-
I think Youtube is gonna bring back the star rating system soon. They just asked me to rate a video I watched a super long time ago.
Now if only they could bring back the old youtube in full lol

I tried out a little more of 2015 Devil Kitty, and I found this song titled "Surrender", which I' can't find anywhere else, and it's essentially a cover of Schizophrenia from Chateau la Tour. EDIT: Apparently it's actually a Gokiburi song? That would actually make more sense, tbh. Except for the pic of Devil Kitty
-
It's on one of Gokiburi's live distributed singles. That YT account is their guitarist's, and he posted a couple of demos that later became DK songs (namely, guitar and bass-focused instrumental versions of "Mugen Loop").

I want to address something that I feel needs to be. I'm sorry for how cringey I was during my first few months on this forum, with my weird fan theories, and my lowkey highkey defending of Kisaki. I was younger (granted, it wasn't THAT long ago) and more stupid, but I'm a young adult now, and I'm trying to move past from that.
I recognise how much of an idiot I was, and I am actively trying to improve. I'm taking more responsibility for myself here, and I've been trying to actually provide more reliable info on stuff as of recent, especially since I have friends within the Japanese VisualKei scene now (one, who I view dearly as a brother of mine, is in a small indie band, and actually sometimes volunteers to work with bigger (compared to his. Usually bands like the AINS bands) bands). I also recognise that I used to be a bit of an attention whore here, though I didn't realise it at the time until VERY recently.
The most recent incident was negligible, since it was more of a speculation based on actual logic. I don't think it compares to the stuff I've said in the past that I am authentically ashamed of, and am trying to look past.
I'm sorry to those I have angered in the past, or have given a really bad first impression of myself to. I hope you forgive me.
And if you still won't give me a 2nd chance, well that's totally fine. But I'm not leaving any time soon. I'm willing to give those who were mean to me due to the shit I said a 2nd chance though.
Just know I'm not the same person I was in 2016 (and yes, I know that sounds so stereotypical, but hear me out, ok? I dealt with some personal shit between then and now that made me realise I should probably work on being a better person.)

I love you too, Onii-chan!

I want to like the new GazettE song, but I just can't bring myself to it. It just feels like every other current vkei song out there. Metalcore with light synths.
IDK, maybe I just am too picky, have shit taste, or just am too bored with music atm.
I mean, I'm definitely not in the right mood for that kind of song. I've mostly been really craving Kuroyuri, but I've burnt myself out on all they currently have, and the closest sounding band to them I can think off of the top of my head is Mamireta, but their new single kinda bored me too.
-
I want to start using last.fm again, but I'd have to correct all my music tags.
ALL of my Vkei tags....
-
Oh yeah, I used to have that app. The way it tagged album art was weird though. It'd always be compressed and if anything happened to the song file, the art would be gone.
Also, I have no idea if that's compatible with mp3tag scripts, since I trust the vk.gy tagging script. Other auto-taggers would wrongly tag my Visual Kei music. The auto-tagging software on the PC I use to rip music with thinks that a Kuroyuri to Kage single is Michael Jackson, and that Cuartet is the RnB group "Shai" lol

I wish a happy 420 to my Guitar teacher, who is a medical marijuana advocate, but has no access to it and has cancer, and has to have all these chemo and radiation treatments.
I hope he won't be too physically impaired and that all the lengthy treatments go well... He's the best guitar teacher out there, and is the epitome of open minded, patience, and an all around lover of Rock N' Roll

I wonder if Dynamite Tommy actually ever used his official soccer coaching license.
IDK, something tells me I wouldn't want him coaching me
-
I do recall seeing pictures/reading somewhere that he did coach a kid team at one point many years ago.
Not 100% sure though.

I'd like to see someone who knows a lot about music explain what's going on musically that makes Kote-Kei sound like it does. The commonly used chord progressions, keys, tempos, techniques, etc.
That would be really interesting and insightful to see.

I'm not even canadian, and I'm mad that Anime North won't host a Vkei band this year, and do an anisong band instead.
Literally every other convention does anisong. Let us have this one
-
@Peace Heavy mk II they did tho. Noah was even breakdancing with a couple of guys xD

AN has brought more than one band for most of the years I've gone (I think the only recent exception was the year with just Matenrou Opera?), so there might still be some VK. Honestly, even if it's just BACK-ON this year, we got metronome last time, so I can't say it bothers me.
Yeah, Avanchick definitely went to the US. There's like a full video of it up on Tokyo in Tulsa's Youtube. As far as I know, NOAH never went overseas as a solo artist, he just started selling some solo merch overseas through Chaotic Harmony.
It does seem like there's been a bit of a decline, but there are definitely still a few other conventions in North America that usually bring VK bands.

I'm not gonna lie, I have a soft spot for Enka, Ryukoka, and Showa Pop

I'm still baffled on how I got copyright striked on a クララ零式 video a few years ago.
Like, they're long disbanded, and I don't think they were ever even signed to a record label that cares anything about copyright.
-
I'm still thoroughly confused by the whole Kiyoharu and Kuroyume mess. Like, how did Kiyoharu own the rights to Kuroyume in the first place? Doesn't Avex take tight control of their bands?
Then again, Kuroyume got away with anti-pop songs, so maybe Kiyohar was able to negotiate things where he'd own the rights to Kuroyume when they signed to Avex?
-
Yeah it's all down to contract, Kuroyume as an act had been popular for almost a decade at the point of signing with AVEX. The label also took over all of his solo stuff and SADS work too, so to them Kiyoharu is what you call a "life-r" (someone who remains with the company even when doing different acts and projects) He's someone respected enough on the scene and in the business that it's not unwise to leave him with creative control and save a fortune on his contract by not insisting on buying his name(s) (something that he could just refuse and look for a less tight-fisted company.
this is a guess
Idk shit about the music industry, everything I know about contracting and promotional rights is from profashional rassling.

IDK if anyone has talked about this yet, but Gulu Gulu uploaded a preview of one of their unreleased songs (played live). I can already see myself singing along to this nonstop lol
-
IDK who needs to hear this, but Little Richard finally released an album for the first time in years.
I hope he's away from that church that made him denounce his sexuality. I know the church made him denounce rock n roll music, so the fact he's back to making music is probably a good sign that he's away from all that

If anyone wants to hear really cool Chinese Folk Metal, try out the band Snowsedim. The guitars are pretty basic, not gonna lie, but they use Chinese instruments that aren't seen as often. Like, this song features a Banhu, a type of folk Fiddle from Northern China, often the lead instrument in Hebei Opera.
Honestly the fact its basic and catchy makes it even more authentic, because Chinese opera is traditionally based on simple, catchy melodies. The vocalist has a really powerful voice when singing as well. It's definitely a more rustic take on Chinese tradition, which is cool because I prefer the more rustic forms of traditional Chinese music anyway lol.

If there was a VisualKei awards show, we all know which 4 bands would win all the awards.
Yes, I'm salty about the Crunchyroll Anime Awards xD
-
If you change the title of the Zi:Kill song "Bad Man" to "Batman", the lyrics sort of make sense. Only sort of though.
I'd love to see someone try and interpret the song
-
I always enjoyed that song and sincerely with that title change, everything becomes clearer! Probably it's an hidden reference to the Dark Knight

Imagine if Scarce did VisualKei news.
"Hey guys, scarce here, so let's get into the news. This bass player, Kisaki, you may have seen him in photos with AvelCain, really famous, used to play in what would become Dir En Grey. Apparently, his twitter has been taken over, again, and nudes and DMs have been leaked, along with pictures of him and other Phantasmagoria at Hot Topic of all places. Next, Tanuki rumours that [Insert Vkei musician here] is married, and is gay. We reached out to him... and got no reply."

Interesting, I think I found the guitarist who seemed to really inspire a lot of Guruguru Eigakan's music, especially Amano's guitar playing. He's a famous Ryukoka/Enka musician

Ironically, in this pic, Yukika looks like middle school me, but with blonde hair and corpse paint. Haircut and clothes are accurate tho.
*Cringes at both Yukika and my old self*
