there's not any 'bands' on this genre lmao but I can't really stand classical baroque music except for a few composers like Bach, Buxtehude or Rameau  to name a few. These guys have write stuff for lute and some sonatas  that I really dig but I can't stand the rest of their music.

The only classical music composer I actually ever actively listened to was Mozart, and that's mostly because one of his pieces was in a videogame I used to play alot xD

    I love some good HipHop/Rap with meaningful, deep (sometimes political) lyrics and a high skill level regarding the intelligent use of language, grammar, rhymes (native language is a plus)... Needless to say this stuff is quite hard to find and buried under a sh*tload of testosterone-driven gangster-stuff praising booty, booze, drugs, money and whatnot... D;

It does exist to, it's just like... rare...

As a former Hip Hop person, I totally agree with you there! I notice often the best Rap comes from the 80's and 90's, back when rhyming and all was considered the mark of a skilled rapper.

There is some modern rap I listen to occasionally, such as Childish Gambino, but yeah. Good rap is hard to find.

kuroyuri to kage and DEZERT just saved my visual kei nu-metal needs

    they are the best nowadays

They truly are. You know how much I love Kuroyuri, and Dezert has become my new obsession because they're so good! Especially their bassist. Good bass players are rare in Vkei. Chiaki is also an amazing vocalist. I love how feminine the vocals are

Some people worship really boring  music these days. xD

I mean, most pop music is boring anyway, since that's only what the labels will throw money at because it's less risky in the long run, but I had no idea honestly it'd get this low xD. Part of me feels elitist, but at least I'm not like other people and I acknowledge it's valid music. May be ear raping music, but still music. (It's kind of like with all the art that's being made these days. I may not like it, but I'll defend it's status as art because, art can be found in anything and there is always some loophole xD.)

Plus, the general public (Especially in my ultra religious area) would call my music "sinful", so I guess on both sides, me and the general public are even xD

  5. Does anyone often find genres that they love, but actually can't stand most of the bands of? I feel that often with Nu Metal. Like, I love the sound, but most of the bands that play it are just crappy. Like, only in the right hands does it sound good, and often in the right hands, it is amazing. Bands like Korn, System of a Down, middle era Dir En Grey. Especially in Vkei is Nu Metal often in the right hands with bands like Dezert, Kuroyuri to Kage, Sads, later era Kuroyume, etc.

But dang are most of the bands hard to stand. Like, Limp Bizkit, I like the guitars, but Fred Durst can't rap for crap. Linkin Park is ehh, they're kind of only lumped into Nu Metal. Trapt are just annoying (And dicks to creators like Rob Scallon). And for some reason, Nickleback is considered Nu Metal?? (IDK how.)

Also, most of the good Nu Metal bands often either play more than Nu Metal, like Korn, who often do general Funk Rock, Dir En Grey used to be more Alternative Metal and are now Deathcore, and Kuroyuri to age and Dezert often mix the genre with Metalcore. Sads started out as Gothic rock, and Kuroyume was for the most part Alternative Metal, Alternative Rock and Gothic Rock. Other bands, such as System of a Down, are experimental with it, and often take it further than the genre's confines.

Are there any genres you love, but can't stand most of the bands? I'd like to hear your thoughts

To be honest, I had to check out what song is that. I mean, I probably heard it, but I instantly forgot it. Maybe it's the same for other people and that's how they can listen to it? Or maybe they are writing somewhere about their hate for that song just like you? xD

I'm not a big fan of pop music in general. Sometimes there is a song I like but that's all.

But repeating one line in a song so many times it breaks the math  really is irritating. ._.

From what I've heard from others, all I've heard is worship, and it's on every station so every shop I go into, it's blaring in all of our ears.

I know it sounds selfish to complain about it, but goddamn is it everywhere, and I have to let out my distaste for it somewhere xD

  7. So if you've ever delved into KoteKei, you'll have probably come across Soleil records. They were an indie label in the 90's that held some of the best and most influential bands. They had bands like La'Mule, Vasalla, I think Birushana and for a while Madeth Gray'll. But, what exactly were they? What is the basic industry? Who owned them? I'd like to learn more.

    Thanks in advance

  8. Closer by the Chainsmokers sucks.

F*ck, everything by them just f*cking sucks. I thought their song "Selfie" was just a joke.. turns out, "We ain't never getting older" repeated 848639751937567417^10*485018589 (A number so big, it's in scientific notation) times is not a joke, and it's authentically repetitive, generic trash.

And the general public eats that sh*t up! I don't see what's so appealing about a bunch of autotuned guys saying the same double negative in an amount so big, it, it has to be in Scientific notation.

Then again, it's pop music. Why am I annoyed if I don't even listen to it? Because IT'S EVERYWHERE. Everywhere I go, I hear that same song. How does it not get old for people?

Am I just a "goth" person who only listens to trash, or am I the only one with a brain that gets annoyed with monotony?

  9. ^^ I also really like Kuroyuri to Kage's vocals. Mei is a really good vocalist and a good screamer. I often hear people complain his screaming doesn't have enough power, but they kind of miss the point. Mei's screams are influenced from that of Johnathan Davis from Korn. They're not meant to be powerful.

Another favourite "millenial" vocalist of mine is Chiaki from Dezert. I love how feminine his vocals are and he sounds almost the same on stage as he does in studio.

This shit right here. Under Syndrome's Sleaver PV. A band using the manji/swastika because of religious reasons is understandable and nothing to debate about. But you really have to be a fool to overlook the obvious Nazi imagery when it's a friggin' swastika on a Nazi armbinder, which is even attached to a SS style unifrom/dress.

And yeah, I am aware that bands did in fact use this as a way to shock. Doesn't excuse to say "It's certainly not having to do with Nazis at all!!!"

It's also worth mentioning the Swastika has nothing to do with rebelling. In Europe, it was a heraldry symbol.

Also, in Germany, it wasn't even called Swastika. It was called Harkenkreuz. Harkenkreuz is German for "Hooked Cross".

Also, before the name "Swastika" was even popularised, it was called Gammadion. (Which comes from it's shape resembling 4 gammas)

But, most people like the made up narrative that the Nazi's got it from India.

Well if it is I guess I'm still a noob VK weeb lol gomenasorry!

xD nah it doesn't make you a noob. Just makes you a normal foreign fan like me.

Also, "Gomenasorry". Gonna have to use that xD

When people pronounce oshare kei like oh share, like sharing is caring. I used to do this, but I went to a VK panel at a con where the girls running it pronounced it like that.

Isn't Oshare the western way of calling it? I heard in Japan, they call it Osare

  13. I do care for some founding bands, because I love exploring, and while I love the 90s Vkei sound, I can't stand most of the bands

Too many Kuroyume clones (or Dir En Grey clones as the newbs call them)

In fact, Missa era Diru was a Kuroyume copycat. Also, I'll is a copy of a D=Sire song. Sorrynotsorry

  14. I think one album that really defines my time here is Memento Mori's first album, along with the EP that came after (Haikei Haranbanjou Hiyori). I play both at the same time generally because they really represent what Memento Mori was at the time. A new personality on the Vkei scene that came straight out of the small tokyo indie scene. They weren't your normal Dear Dolce band (definitely not Piece). These guys were much darker, and much heavier. They normally had traditional influences, but showed they weren't above making western style horror songs too. Normally, Shinjou Kasumi chose really crappy throwaway bands for his label, but I feel as if he got 3 choices right: Reload, Raddock, and Memento Mori.

Both their first album, and the first EP, will always hold a special place in my heart.

Why does it represent my time here? It was the original reason I joined, tbh xD

  15. So this isn't technically VKei, but these guys did pretty much influence a lot of VKei bands, but Ningen Isu once preformed a special concert where they did covers of their influences, such as KISS, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath (obviously) and Jimi Hendrix

    Spoiler

  16. If it were up to me, I'd look for one of their early VHS's and buy that, since it's hard to find good rips of their early PVs on youtube (The only good rip I can find is Juujika Tono Tawamure)

But if I had to choose between those two, I'd buy Corkscrew, because one of my personal favourites, "Rock And Roll", is on that. I mean, it's a raw Punk song with the chorus referring to a David Bowie song (Rock And Roll Suicide, except it's been changed to Suicide Rock And Roll)

I've heard he's bragged in interviews about stealing SEVERAL of Kyo's girlfriends. But I have no source, really.

The most I've seen in interviews is him saying about how he can kill Kyo with a pebble, which honestly, I laughed hard at because, um... you sure about that Kisaki? Kyo still may be short, but since you left La:Sadie's, he's been working out, whereas you're still skinny xD.

I also know Kyo also sometimes talks about his hatred for Kisaki in interviews. But I couldn't care less what each have to say about eachother, as it's all immature bickering from two immature people. One is an alcoholic man-teenager with daddy issues and temper issues, and the other is an arrogant 40 something year old stuck in his 20's who is indecisive, doesn't know when to stop, doesn't know when to shut up, and possibly has some sort of god complex.

I could go on about both, but you get my point. Neither are perfect people, and they're gonna hate eachother, and they're gonna keep being in their f*cked up state unless they get help, and I'd really love to see both get mental help, but that doesn't look like it'll happen any time soon, sadly.
