Even though Retsu is very convinced they are going to deliver their masterpiece ever. At least that's how his replies sounded to me.

I'm still in that "I so hope for an album I'll love but I expect the worst to not be disappointed". In the end I don't mind. If I won't like the album but they really want to change into whatever direction it may be they shall do. I just hope for them that there are enough people to like it. Even if it may be all new fans. I'd stick to what I love up to now and that's it.

What worries me about that is someone on Retsu’s instagram Q&A asked what djent and prog bands does he listen to and he answered “I don’t listen to that music anymore” someone also asked what music does he listen to and he answered “Chillhop”. Part of me thinks DIMLIM are about to head in a massive change in direction with this new album, and I don’t think many of us are gonna receive it well, that’s just my opinion, of course

Really hope this album is good and they've worked out their live kinks, but damn, these guys are really bad at marketing (not trying to knock them, I love them, it's just the truth).

I guess there's a part of me that wishes they kept the VK thing going for selfish reasons (I legitimately think they had great looks and were kind of at the top of the scene in musical quality), but I think dropping it the way they did really only serves to hurt them even more from a marketing perspective. I get it, you wanna be "true to yourself," etc., but pulling away from that scene in conjunction with every other marketing misfire just seems really ill-conceived.

Not that I'm in any position to see them live again in any part of the near future (unless they decide to take this world tour business to the US), I think my opinion of them in their current state would dramatically improve if they'd just fill out their lineup. I think performing over backtracked bass and rhythm guitar is kind of "cheap" to say the least and if your international fans are willing to pay the big bucks to see you play some songs you should have enough self-respect to actually perform said songs the way they're meant to be performed.

Who knows, I could very well eat my words in a few months, the album could be fantastic and they could really turn it out for these shows, but I really just want to see them at the top of their game for their sake and for the sake of the people who dig them.

And lastly, I still think if they stuck with their heavy sound (impressions making me worry they also dropped that) they would do some serious business just riding the djent/metalcore train in the west. They'd definitely fit in on a mixed bill of those bands in the west (hell, even some of the noodly post-hardcore bands like DGD and such). But that whole discussion in the "make visual kei great again" or whatever thread has made it clear that Japanese bands have no real desire to capitalize on band relationships or playing to their strengths with like-minded artists and just wanna be supported on a one-man bill, something that literally no other artists do on an international level outside of the tippy-top, long-standing hitmakers.

All this sounds a bit dubious to me. I really would love this new album to be killer and DIMLIM to do well with this Mexico show and in the future, but can't see it paying off somehow. I'll get the album as want to make proper judgement, but expecting a train wreck.

Awful look and new song promised to sound like one ok rock or new Dezert?

Didn't think I'd say this about the band who made the best single of the year, but, my expectations are close to zero for the album.

Not sure what happened but maybe the momentum died with the two guys who left/was forced out.

My friend told me to share his pictures. Also, he says:

Oh, I remembered one more thing.  The vocal went crazy more and more as the show went further. He hit his forehead and chest with the microphone.
Apparently I could see he was high.

When I was a bit worried and thought "Is he OK??" I didn't miss the drummer glanced at him looking worried.
Well now I think Sho has the biggest power in the band, other members might not have a choice but follow anything he says.

My Japanese friend went to the show. He loves Dimlim and it was his first time seeing them. Here's his gushing:

I feel like I don’t want to leave here.

The show was just perfect. It was truly the best show I’ve ever seen. I was so drunk by the songs and his voice.
I was like watching a movie.

If there is only one concert I can take you. I would choose DIMLIM.

What was surprising was that the vocal sho was singing toward his left not front, so I had to keep looking at his face of the left side.

As I expected, I only saw three members and they perfectly played all songs using recorded sound. I wonder how they possibly could do that.

    Next email:

・Sho's shout was a laser beam
・There was a crazy guy in front of me. The guy kept shouting every time Sho shouted. It was so loud that the microphone caught his voice.
・The show started from "Rijin", my favorite song!!!
・I really liked the other song of Rijin, 肉腫と繁殖と不快感. I enjoyed the song so much at the live thanks to you.
・喜 was played early! Everyone was very excited to hear that.
・Sho had water very often. I guessed shouting hurts his throat very much.
    ・The guitarist had mustache.
・They didn't say thank you at last, which I thought it was kind of rude.
・When sho succeeded in singing the shouting part of Vanitas, everyone started to clap him a lot!!
・Oh, I saw music video of their new song. It's "What's up"
・I can't wait for their next show!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I asked if I could share and commented on how in his pictures it didn't look like it was all girls in the crowd and there were foreigners.

Of course you can share anything! I want to tell people who left bad reputation how perfect it was!!!
Only three members made that concert using a computer.

Yeah only that show. I thought probably there were more guys than girls, at least half. It seemed like that. And some foreigners.

They showed us new music video called what’s up.
It was surprising the song sounded pop that reminded me of ONE OK ROCK.
Some might not like it, but I like they are trying to do something new!!

By the way, the vocal looked very young without makeup. I sort of felt like looking at a show of university students. But the quality was professional.

im gonna go out on a limb and say english is probably not retsu's first language so that statement could be interpreted in a variety of ways. my guess is he meant it moreso hes not going to let anything change or impact what he wants to create musically.

i bought the first press at jishuban club in june, but i'm sure they had very few left at that time

as for anti-piracy of live-limited goods...i guess it's probably so that in the event they decide to re-record or re-release tracks of live-limited material, people will still buy it. i guess less would if they had already heard it, or maybe that's the mentality. OR it's meant to feel like a special limited privilege and will feel less-so if it's widespread idk.

i just feel shitty about it all because i really felt they could be the next big thing, but due to some choices the band/retsu seem to be making their future seems unclear for now. i hope for the best, though.

Retsu contacted DM from my fanpage of the band "DIMLIM Brazil" on facebook. (He said it was from the record company, but I'm sure it was him.)
He thanked the support and asked me to delete the Kidoairaku download link, and asked if it was I who leaked the content on the internet. Well, I deleted it and said it wasn't me! And then he kept asking me for some links from the Limited CD he had on the internet. Because I said I was "hindering sales." I did not understand anything, because for me the official sale had only been on CHEMOARA ONEMAN on the 17th.
I felt bad, because I only put the link there because it was already on the entire network in blogs for download, but I deleted it anyway because it was wrong.
I believe that his actions are also because of these "content leaks", he has started to freak out since Ryuya and Taishi left the band.

My biggest fear is that the band will break up and I get no news from Sho, I really admire him, I would love to see his evolution in the visual kei scene as a vocalist ... But apparently if DIMLIM continues like this, it will be difficult!
I sincerely hope that Retsu will change his mind about leaving VK.

they've literally had like 1 or 2 lives since their departures and 0 music releases. id reserve judgment until we actually hear what the new material sounds like and where dimlim go from here when it comes to their lives. 2 lives compared to 2+ years of being together seems a bit of a lopsided ratio but what do i know lol

im still confused at all the know it all's who claimed retsu isnt trying or not giving a fuck based off 1 live, he might be hard headed and have other faults but ive always had the impression hes given it his all when it comes to making music. are we really going to forget the upgrade in quality of music dimlim went through when transitioning from issei to retsu lol. all u gotta do is go back on the chedoara thread and see people's reactions when they came out with Vanitas, Aijou ni tsuki, and shigarami back to back to back.

I love this band and I really hope the album is a killer - but I echo the sentiments that continuing on with this half-lineup is a big cause for concern. How old is Retsu? Mid-20s, maybe? Just browsing his social media definitely makes me feel like he's going through that thing that all creative types tend to go through where you just...outwardly reject whatever it is you think people want you to do. From the dropping of visuals to not filling out the lineup to what seems to be a lot of over-promising for things that just don't seem possible (they announced another full length literally like...MONTHS before RELEASE?? REALLY??), this is the stuff that ends bands. And I really hope that's not the case here, I really want them to pull it through, but I don't think they can do that as a three piece.

I fear that DIMLIM is not long for this world.

Retsu is a great songwriter, but clearly a shitty businessman. I’m willing to bet that the band’s troubles rest squarely on him making poor decisions. Anyone that will bitch at fans on Instagram for finding alternate means of hearing music that was sold at one show in Japan – and NOWHERE ELSE – obviously doesn’t have their head on straight.

Also, for a band that records such densely layered music to continue on playing live without a second guitarist and bass player is asinine. Retsu is clearly in too deep, and Sho and Hiroshi are probably ready to GTFO. The live shows matter; that’s what brings people in. Record sales don’t mean shit anymore, so even if DIMLIM manages to squeak out a new album, it won’t matter if they promote it with pathetic live performances.

I wonder if Retsu is the type that doesn’t want any outsiders handling the music, and he just wants to do it all himself to keep his integrity or whatever. If that’s the case he needs to get over himself and find some management.

the other guys probably saw this coming and that’s why they bounced.

I think that's pretty unfair for dimlim considering rijin and kidoairaku are still more solid releases than 90% of the scene. Who cares if Retsu hates vk or whatever lol
