Sorry I realized that the first one I posted wasn't a topic for some reason, so I am posting this again.

What's your favorite GazettE B-side? For me it is a toss-up between 虚無の終わり 箱詰めの黙 and Defective Tragedy. 虚無の終わり 箱詰めの黙 is just so haunting and atmospheric, while I think Defective Tragedy is pretty different from anything else they've done (in a good way). Unfortunately none of the more recent B-sides really do it for me.

This album will be released in spring 2018. There will also be 4 dates for Halloween called "HALLOWEEN 17 SPOOKY BOX 2" which can be seen in the images. The lives on 2017.10.25/30 will have the concept of Abyss while the lives on 2017.10.28/31 will have the concept of LUCY.

Nagisa got a reaction from PsychoΔelica in If you'd never heard Japanese music, what would you be listening to?
I don't think I'd be listening to anything. The first CD I ever got was filled with Japanese Pokemon songs, and I haven't listened to anything non-Japanese of my own accord. I couldn't stand hearing the music on the radio even when I was 8. Even the video game soundtracks that I sometimes listen to when I need a break from visual kei are composed by Japanese people.

Apologies if this has been posted somewhere. I've been kind of interested in joining a trade-off however due to a bad experience in the first one I joined due to my lack of understanding I've been hesitant to join another one. Step-by-step instructions would be appreciated.

I can think of a few good reasons why.

There isn't anywhere else. There wasn't ever anywhere else really. During the VK heyday, most of our "competition" were blog spots. Finding downloads is easy. MH is one of the few bastions of hardcore music discussion left on the Internet dedicated to visual kei. It's not endemic, but it's not uncommon either. There's something about visual kei that comes and goes in waves and perhaps by sharing our experiences we can all come to a common understanding on what visual kei really means to us. The more I think about it, I don't "fall" out of other scenes or genres the way I do visual kei. I could go three to four months only listening to visual kei, and then spend another three to four months not listening to it at all. It's got a really addicting quality to it! Some people remain steadfast, others worship the false god K-Pop, and then the rest of us are somewhere in the middle, one foot still tied to this place. Or at least I am. For me at least, it's really interesting to see why people are leaving visual kei. The first reason given is usually a general one that hides the real one. A pattern I have noticed and never seen mentioned is that all it takes is one band's untimely disbandment for the wind to leave someone's sails. Mine was D'espa. For what it's worth, I haven't noticed too much complaining in this thread. But I have noticed that a lot of members have refined tastes in visual kei, and know what they like, and will tune in when something catches their interest. There's just so much going on in the scene these days, if one is not knee-deep in it and doesn't have a gateway band to ease returning into the scene, it can feel like the scene has nothing to offer them anymore.

I've been taking a break from Visual Kei for a few months. I'll probably get back into it once the GazettE release something new. I've been listening to Every Little Thing, which I got into around the same time as the GazettE. I don't think I've listened to "new" artists since 2012.

The real Ruki died in 2004 and the'Ruki' we've known ever since then is a paid impersonator hired by the management.

Fuck this album was trashed by people back in the day, and now it's pretty much entirely forgotten about; all the while I thought it was great pretty much from day one and still spin it on occasion. The aesthetics have this sort of ill-dated charm to them now too.

Pretty sure we went to Karaoke Q Studio and I think it's still open. There are a few others if you look on Yelp! They're pretty much all going to be north of the Strip in China/Koreatown. Private rooms, and a pretty decent selection of J-pop (probably not a lot of indies VK) for the U.S. I remember paying way less than I expected for a couple of hours in one of their larger rooms with a good amount of booze for a large party.

This ties in nicely with a Facebook message I received yesterday. The lurker reading this can consider this my unofficial response, but I will get back to her shortly. Her question revolved around how to get started in the community, because from the outside looking in we can be a little off putting. But our attitudes towards music, especially Japanese music, is unique within the scene and to the Internet. We cater to an older, more seasoned demographic who know what they like and what they don't, and who really appreciate it when people take the time to explain their opinions. Other places centering around J-Rock are content with agreeing to disagree on a much more superficial level, eschewing any type of confrontation because of how easily it can slip into drama. I have a different philosophy regarding standing one's ground in a conversation, and I moderate with that philosophy in mind. I step in when things get too spicy, but overall I'm content to let two or more members plumb the depths of their differences in opinion because that's where the most interesting discussion lies. Conversation dries up quickly at the oasis of agreement, but I've had members sign up here solely to write reviews to disagree with mine. That's something that even five years ago, I would not have seen.

There are two extremes of fans, but as was said earlier these extremes are in every scene. We are a much smaller community, so those extremes appear exaggerated. I've witnessed fans who hate everything just to be contrarian, and I've witnessed fans with no concept of music they don't or cannot enjoy. Most members here fall into neither one of those extremes, remaining somewhere in the middle, even if we all gravitate to one extreme. The negative opinions prevail because of three main factors:

it's easier to be negative and engaging than positive and engaging (without seeming like a shill)  contrarian reviews are more likely to bring people to the table to argue back those with positive opinions about music just don't share them as often Like what you like, and if someone here writes a review that you disagree with, write a positive one back! It's the best way to keep a good atompshere where everyone feels like they belong, start deep discussion, and promote JRock at the same time.

Nagisa reacted to Zeus in #95: Traces Vol. 2 by The GazettE
reila is one of those long time fan favorite tracks so I paused when they announced they would re-record it. It was a gutsy move and if it didn't work out well for them, no fan would let them live it down. If it did, it would make the album that much better. My opinion is that all re-recordings need to bring something to the table - good or bad - so that it can distinguish itself from itself. The Traces Vol. 2 version of reila does that successfully for all of the reasons you listened there, but I elected not to say anything about reila because I don't like the song. I never saw the appeal in it. It's just another boring seven minute ballad and if I wanted to listen to Ruki croon, I'd listen to CASSIS instead...which just happens to be track two of this release. I'm still miffed that they included this track again after throwing it on basically every release they could, but in truth I'd rather cut 6, 9, or 10 first.

Time is never kind to my opinion of the GazettE albums but this one might escape without too many scrapes.

Yeah, Devil Kitty in general has a lot of dirt on them.

As for the Rentrer en soi related drama @Peace Heavy mk IIwas talking about, as far as I remember it was 蒼 (ex rentrer en soi, gt) who got Yuuga's sister pregnant and then kinda forced into marry her (which is why he hasn't been in a band ever since).

And yes, the story about TOTTO (L,Dear /Devil Kitty) was confirmed by Yuuga. He was accused for being part of a group rape of a girl in Tokyo. He was also active on a lot deaikei sites (date-sites but not really?) and Yuuga officially stated that if people see him they should avoid him and definitely not contact him IRL or on the internet.

Yuuga and Yayoi beating up people on their labels are basically confirmed, although I think it generally happened a lot more in the 90's. ( Eternal's final live was also called 喧嘩上等 which translated to "Great at fighting", or something along those lines).

Regarding the early 90's I think most of the bands tried to live the western "sex, drugs & rock'n'roll" lifestyle.

The end of 2016 and the beginning of 2017 has seen a lot of arrests of visual kei members. While band members skirting the law - and sometimes even breaking it - is nothing new, it is rather unusual to see so many high-profile cases in such a short time span. So today, let's indulge in some visual kei drama both past and present and look at some other famous cases and arrests. Grab some tea, because this topic is going to get delicious.

Disclaimer: While the title says "Bad Boys" of visual kei, some of the stuff covered here is particularly heinous. It's one thing to be a "bad boy" and it's another thing to be a rapist. Please don't read into the title too much.

What the Muk did you just Mukin’ say about me, you little pidgey? I’ll have you know my Rattata is in the top percentage of Rattatas, and I’ve been involved in numerous gym battles with Brock, and I have over 300 confirmed Rattata catches. I am trained in Normal-type warfare and I’m the top youngster in the entirety of Pewter City. You are nothing to me but just another trainer. I will wipe you the Muk out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on Route 3, mark my Muking words. You think you can get away with walking past me on your way to Mt. Moon? Think again, Muker. As we speak, I am contacting my secret network of youngsters across Kanto and your Pokedex is being traced right now so you better prepare for PokeBattle, Magikarp. The PokeBattle that wipes out the pathetic little Pokemon you call your Bulbasaur. You’re muking fainted, Kakuna. I can stand right here, and only right here, and my Rattata can make you black out in over 700 ways, and that's just with tackle. Not only am I extensively trained in Rattata combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of my comfy cargo shorts and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable Abra off the face of the region, you little Spearow. If only you could have known what a PokeBattle your little walk past me was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have stayed in Viridian Forest. But you couldn’t, you didn’t, and now you’re paying the price, you pants wearing idiot. I will tail whip fury all over you and you will faint in it. You’re Muking blacked out, Red.
