It’s a tough listen these days, yeah. It’s got some of my favorite DEG songs on there, but I rarely listen to it in its entirety anymore.  As far as “classic” DEG goes, Macabre is the winner for me. 

Unplugged version of AsoM sounds like Kyo was inside the piano screaming while someone played it. That thump at the end is Kyo crawling out and slamming the lid closed. 

I feel like Dir en grey doesn’t have any friends. 
 
Satsuki would probably be on it though. 

But not necessarily a good Dir en grey song. 

Luv sounds like it could have come from Nightmare to be honest. 

Luna Sea already ripped off their own songs for piece of a broken heart. Sounds like a mash up of Gravity and Kiss. It seriously could have been an outtake from Lunacy.

There was another short lived VK band called Vajra I think? They were practically covering DEG songs. I remember one just straight up being Reiketsu Nariseba.

Shout out to Yuchi and Mika for being one of the tightest rhythm sections in the business right now. 
 
That stone cold groove in Hakudaku is killer, and also that disturbingly sexy swagger in mannerism na tsumetai souretsusya.

Luna Sea is probably releasing another album to show Yoshiki that it's really not that hard. 

But not necessarily a good Dir en grey song. 

I thought it was girl from first PV has child as a result of her father raping her and this is the continuation of her story. She meets a man that rapes her and abuses her daughter, so she kills him much like she killed her parents. It’s really a story about the cycle of abuse. 
 
This is more or less R-Shitei’s version of Revelation of Mankind. 

Re-recording of Unknown Despair Lost pisses me off. 

If the album has one flaw it’s that Naburi drags a little bit. It’s not even a bad song, but when it’s playing sometimes I kind of zone out and forget it’s there. 

First five tracks are stellar!  jyunboku, muku de arouga is one of my favorites. 

On the topic of Adoratio, Mimi Zozo, Aoguroi Hysteria, and Hakudaku are the perfect trifecta to end the album. They all combine to make a very effective emotional climax. 

Bring it. Kasumi is one of the most generic 6/8 metal ballads I’ve ever heard. And I’m assuming the inexplicable high praise for The Final comes from it being one of the few real actual songs on WtD that doesn’t sound like mushy nu-metal rubbish.
