  1. not nearly as good as i expected, but the most cohesive gazette release which would probably make it their best. the only thing i dislike is the RAWR RAWR ANGER thing going on, because when they slow down (ominous) its fkin breath taking. there's no filler which is mind numblingly awful, unlike prior releases, but few songs that stand out all that much. however, while a lot of the tracks are average, the songs that stand out are absolutely brilliant. i got a little too hyped for this, but as with anything it'll require a bit of time to digest.

    highlights:

DOGMA - this is just insane

DEUX - the second i heard the chorus i kind of peed myself, it was so fkin beautiful. the studio version was beautiful and heavy as expected, love the gang vocals. the real plot twist is the little bit before the end, easily the heaviest section gazette have put to tape. i played it doing my makeup last night and i dropped everything just to head bang.

OMINOUS - gets better and better with every listen, uruha's final solo sounds like someone weeping and i cant get enough

    GRUDGE

    LUCY

  3. NEGA - VANTAS

im not quite sure as to why people detested this, sure they changed their sound to something more mainstream cough visualcore cough but this is easily one of the most interesting and heavy visual albums i've heard. it has this oddly progressive and overall weird sound, its more than slightly influenced by DSS but its with nega's own touch. its on the surface metalcore but i hear a some cues to death/doom through the synth work and doom metal in the way the guitars drone on.

RES - THE BOTTOM OF CHAOS / MEGIDDO

lynch. - INFERIORITY COMPLEX / GALLOWS / EXODUS

MALICE MIZER - final singles / goth era

merry go round - final singles

im too lazy to write up the rest but basically most of these feature a shift in sound that i wish was continued, except for lynch im mad happy they have their current sound. its a shame when a band puts out their most interesting work before they disband.

  4. We need someone to carry on the djent-kei torch!

    +++++1 on this

i hate djent and it sounds like asshole but mbhi were brutal enough and still combined it with awesome choruses which made them one of my fav visualcore bands

so im pretty sad to watch them crash and burn like this :(

meh there's still dezert, dadaroma, avelcain, TBS, D.I.D. etc i'll live.

  5. I suppose one could argue that it's beacause of the musical direction the band is pursuing that Reita's role is a bit downplayed. This was very apparent on Division when Reita was practically replaced with electronics. There was a lot more emphasis placed on using dub step and weird blooms and bleeps next to guitar riffs.

The most recent bass line that stands out to me is in "karasu", which makes sense considering he wrote it (right?.?). I Know from songs like "Baretta" and "My Devil on the bed" (maybe just the intro and solo) that, if a song is written to include more bass, Reita can make some interesting bass lines.

Or I dunno maybe he's just lazy.

oh true. karasu was one of my favs because of how aggresive the bass line was. baretta is also good, but he was better during their indies era wheras he's totally in the background for most of the alt metal/dubstep era.
