This talk of Gackt reminds me that I miss old Gackt. (unlike other people, I could not stand Malice Mizer but I was a big fan of Gackt solo)

My favourite Gackt album was MOON, released back in 2002. The last music of his that I actually liked was from RE:BORN (2009). Nothing he's released since then has stuck with me..... except I really loved his version of Episode.0, but he didn't write that one.

This.  I feel as if now more than ever, the VK community is so active with all these projects and super groups that disbandments don't really ruffle my feathers much. Shinya just posted a pic of him in the studio with Toshi, alongside other members such as those fom NoGOD, SCANDAL, and a few others. There's def a place for Girugamesh members to shine individually. If anything (not trying to invalidate the sadness people may feel) this is awesome. CHIMERA was such a great last release. Also its kinda ironic how the last song on that release is called END....

    Talk about Cryptic.

Not trying to hate as I actually like giru, but I'm not exactly sad at their disbandment. I think they've peaked a few times and there wasn't anywhere exciting for their music to go. It's good they're still relatively young and can still venture in other kinds of music or whatever they do next. It was, for the most part, a good run.

Oh damn, the timing was very unexpected. Their recent stuff didn't wow me either but it was still worth listening to. I just hope Satoshi will continue his music career (especially REDMAN) since he was the main reason why I listened to girugamesh in the first place.

My all time favorite song from them will always be puzzle. For album, their self-titled one is the album I will always go back to.

fucking sad disbandment. girugamesh is a staple on the  scene, one of the biggest torch bearers.... Satoshi is a fucking beast, top 3 VK (?) vocalists '00 onwards... MUSIC is a freaking BIBLE of what vk was about to become.

Fans and live-goers should be understanding of bands and managements wishes and decisions.
Bands should understand at least the basics of the culture they're playing in and take that into account when making their decisions.

At the end of the day, they still get to wave-dick so if you don't like it? Get out.

The one photo limit at VIP meets sort of sounds dodgy, but I can sort of understand if they wanted to keep pace. If people took too many photos then it'd slow down the process and would take too much time. Different if it's more of a hang-out, but the more general you make your argument the harder it is to be coherent and make a firm point. I've never been to one, but do they have professional photography?
It'd suck if you were allowed one photo and it was a dodgy mobile picture, especially if you paid extra for it.

My opinion, though, on the whole no phones at lives. Eh, I sort of agree. The kind of person I am, though, is that I'd rather enjoy the experience, I went there to hear the band play, you'd want to be in that moment. Sure it's nice to have a memento, but we're living in an age where we have to apparently document everything we do and it's just shallow. I have my memories and my experiences and I don't really need pictures to remind me of them or to show and brag to other people. It might be different for those young people who feel they need to validate themselves and their experiences online, through twitter or instagram, or whatever else, but personally I'm completely fine with the idea of no phones, no pictures.

I hate Angelo. Angelo were a lazy, low rent GARBAGE band when they debuted, and now, even with Karyu in the fold, they continue to make GARBAGE a decade later. And people buy it (apparently)! Their best songs sound like songs that weren't good enough for a Pierrot album ten years ago.

Versailles is a freakin' joke. They're how I imagine a Saturday Night Live skit mocking Visual would sound. If I had to genre-tag them, I'd label them Anime Convention Rock.

Inoran should be publicly stoned for this bullshit. This is the guy who wrote Gravity... and am I watching a music video by him or, like, Pitbull?

I hate Kiyoharu releasing garbage ass new songs and calling it Kuroyume because Hitoki's playing bass. COULD YOU FUCKING NOT THANKS.

More bands should consider releasing official recordings of all their shows, it's pretty minimal effort required if they don't have such high quality demands, and with digital distribution channels costs would not have to skyrocket either for fans. Charging ticket price or below for a venue shot video (Most venues film at least one angle, generally center and above the audience for the bands own archives) or even just a plain soundboard mix audio. Fans would have their memories, no one would have to block your precious views, everyone would be happy.

Back when things had to be distributed on discs, this wasn't feasible, but today it's really no problem putting out a hundred+ digital releases a year. Potential goldmine for the bands, if revenue is what they want, and just a general win-win situation for everyone.

It's not really a stupid name, at least not in the sense it came about.
Plus you have to take into account they're Japanese, expecting a proper, 'normal' English name is bad-play.
But seriously, wanting to punch something when you hear just a name? That's an issue dude, should probably deal with it.

And congratulations, the logic fallacy of "Hey I didn't like this, so it's bad". Not the first time I've seen it here, won't be the last.

i dont blame op and i dont get the roastfest like pretz said this was me around a year ago and i think everyone has this phase when they realize that nothing in the current scene sounds like their old favs. when i just got really into vk and realized nothing was gonna sound like deadman, sugar, emmuree, rentrer en soi, 9goats, d'espairsray etc i was salty at the scene but upon everyone else's advice here i opened my ears to other bands and they're some of my favs. at first i made fun of TBS for sounding like mejibray (i dont know what i was thinking either, dont ask) and i hated AvelCain for just being an overall shit show glamourizing depression (imo its not too far from the truth but they're just awesome tho shh) and now they're some of my favs.
this is basically what i posted in the thread zeus mentioned lol

I've been listening to japanese music since around 2000, and profusely since 2004, and I can tell that every year people say what you are saying. VK represents maybe 3 or 5% of japanese music industry, I guess. It's a niche inside a niche, thousands of bands disbands and forms everyday and no one cares. People go where the money is, so of course 18412980123 newbie bands will imitate what is giving money nowadays. There's always a "phase" going around, if you get what I'm saying. There was a time when EVERY BAND was oshare, then EVERY BAND was linkin park, then EVERY BAND was dir en grey, now EVERY BAND is metalcore. Even the bands you mentioned were kinda influenced one by another.

TL;DR: VK has always been like this. You just don't like the flavor of the month.

So, about point 1: it could be they found the second group is more aligned with their interests, is doing much better, or maybe has a live performance schedule that fits their lifestyle better (maybe they can't really be on tour very often for family reasons?). It seems like the visual-kei scene, at least, is a group of people where everyone basically knows everyone else so it might not be too difficult to find another group of 3 or 4 guys who want to play bad music for teenagers together.

For point 2, a lot of these cases are due to label restrictions or blatant member disagreements. La:Sadie's -> Dir en grey / Sinceria -> Fest Vanquer / Valluna -> Diaura / Lagna -> DESCRIBE -> GARDEN / Call Me -> Pentagon,  etc

Sometimes it is for rebranding, other times they can't continue making music unless they become a "different band."

I'm not sure how it works for -AINS- though, because they seem to take bands and have a total rebranding / image / concept / sound change clause in their contracts.

The modern VK copy-pasta formula song writing. Heavy verse, melodic chorus, heavy verse, breakdown, bridge, rinse, repeat. I know 90 percent of these new shitty kei flavor-of-the-week bands are just learning how to write songs but for fuck's sake try something new.
