Emiliendollars 12 Posted April 25, 2020 A few years ago, I think it was before anyone really knew who he was, Yohio appeared on a Norwegian talk show and started talking about Mana. 1 1 2 seys, Total Saikou, Jigsaw9 and 1 other reacted to this
Total Saikou 735 Posted April 26, 2020 (edited) It's a bit of an old and well known one but personally I was really shocked when I saw Diru on the Saw 3D soundtrack. Still kind of am, actually. I even remember hearing the track being played during some trailer clip or something. That might just be faulty memory but I distinctly remember this strange feeling of intrigue when I heard something distinctly non English playing during a western horror film, mostly because I wasn't used to hearing music in languages I couldn't understand back then. Apparently X Japan was on Saw IV's soundtrack too, but I don't remember that one as well. Tbh I think hearing X in the credits of one of the most famous torture porn movie franchises of all time is unexpected in itself. Honestly I'm still surprised that the Saw soundtracks featured international, in this case, Japanese and VK rock/metal. It's just uncommon for something as popular as the Saw franchise to feature VK without it being some exoticism gimmick (or at the very least, openly treated like one), or have it be a part of the setting or plot. Tanishi 598 Posted April 26, 2020 There's this vtuber sitcom called Watanuki-san chi that airs on TV Tokyo. Last week's episode had Golden Bomber's drummer Kenji Darvish as a guest appearance playing himself and at the end they sing Memeshikute. 3 1 Gesu, Miku70, Jigsaw9 and 1 other reacted to this

Jigsaw9 6783 Posted May 18, 2020 (edited) Apparently in 1999 there was a sports game for Playstation released in Japan titled R [アール], also known as Rock'n Riders. It featured characters named and modeled after actual J-rock/VK musicians! According to the game's story in the "distant future of 20XX" a Japanese rock band called R go to Los Angeles for a gig, but for some reason rock music is outlawed so the authorities chase them through the US while the characters race each other on...snowboards?? Yeah. The members of the band: - vocals: Ellemo - guitar: Kyoji Yamamoto (BOWWOW) - guitar: Kiyoshi (media youth, hide with Spread Beaver, Lucy, machine) - guitar: Chisato (PENICILLIN) - bass: YASUMICHA'N (Sleep My Dear) - drums: O-JIRO (PENICILLIN) It also looks like these guys actually went ahead and recorded an album under this band name. Anyway, various tracks composed by the members also appear as background music in the game itself (here's a YT link to the full soundtrack). The 2CD limited version of the game also had a photo gallery of the real-life musicians dressed as their game characters it seems. A bunch of in-game footage can be found in this YT playlist. An assortment of screenshots and other info here. By the way a totally random tweet sparked this post, bless the abyss of the internet! Gesu 1537 Posted May 19, 2020 There's a wig in Tomodachi Life called the Glam-Rock Wig that resembles an 80s VK hairstyle. I don't know what it's called in the Japanese version but I'm willing to bet it's called the Visual Kei Wig. 1 1 Total Saikou and Jigsaw9 reacted to this

Total Saikou 735 Posted May 21, 2020 I was looking for a SHAZNA album cover today when I found out that Winter's Review by SHAZNA was used as the Ending theme for Japanese dub of The Rugrats Movie?!?! Now that's what I call unexpected. I saw the Rugrats movie as a kid and seeing SHAZNA play over Rugrats footage is so surreal for me. 4 1 2 Miku70, suji, Gesu and 4 others reacted to this
