I'll probably be shot for this but if I didn't know any better and still called Dir en grey visual kei I'd be inclined to say that they do their visuals better than 99% of the bands in the scene that dress in all sorts of weird and unconventional clothing in order to gain attention and fans and whatnot. They've probably been thinking about this for awhile - my tour shirt from the Apocalyptica co-headlining tour has the moniker on it, and that was in August of 10.
