I'm pretty scared of wasps too, but mostly because apparently I'm super allergic to them and could probably die if one managed to sting me. I haven't seen many wasps around my city now though and I rarely leave my apartment anyway so I think I'm fine... When I was a kid though we used to visit the countryside a lot and I had to always have the adrenaline pen with me in case I'd get stung. It was kinda scary.

I have a pretty bad phobia of spiders too. I start crying and shaking if I see one, even though the spiders here are really tiny and can't do anything to humans. This reminds me, I was once chatting with my friend's (now luckily ex-)boyfriend and he knew about my arachnophobia but still decided to send me a gif that made it seem like a spider would've crawled across my phone's screen. I freaked out and almost threw my phone to the wall and I raged at him about it so bad he was scared to talk to me for several days lol.

Although I've not visited myself, I actually know and fellowship with quite a few of the individuals from this community, as they have a satellite institution here in my city. The origins of this village are pretty fascinating. It was established in the late 1960's by a group of "African Americans" who, during the height of the civil rights movement (when most 'African Americans' were fighting to fully integrate into the U.S.), basically gave a HUGE middle finger to the United States, migrated to Israel, and started their own way of life.

I can definitely attest to the fact that the people I've met who were born in this village or have interfaced with this community to any great extent have all been upstanding people. It's wonderful to witness how people can flourish as individuals (and on a collective basis) when those people are nourished in a culture that's not inherently poisonous.

Why the hell do I keep typing out responses to things that I end up not posting?

Like lengthy fucking summaries and thoughts to things or topics, only to just say "ehhhhh I'm good" and scrap them.

Anyone else do that?

My media teacher was talking about Harry Potter during a lesson about a month or so ago and she said "catch the snatch" instead of "catch the snitch" and we had to stop the lesson for a few minutes because me and a couple other students just couldn't stop laughing and I think one of them nearly started crying and I still think about that sometimes

It's understandable to be bitter towards someone who you believe did you wrong. However, it's not healthy when that bitterness escalates to an overall hatred for that person, to the point where you're completely obsessed over them for longer periods of time. At this point, that person has taken full control over you, and you are letting that happen. No matter how much you boast about how you despise this person, or how they're a coward, etc., it makes you look like the coward for letting them take control over you.

All I can say is this: do something better with your life, instead of having it revolve around one person, whether you hate their guts or love 'em to death. Other people have their own lives to deal with and have better things to do than waste their time trying to make a truce with those who don't have logic or reasoning behind their actions.

I think it's okay if you keep it in your head, but if you go as far as actively seeking revenge, then it becomes a problem. Sometimes, you just can't help but think about them a lot because it's extremely difficult to control your thoughts/mental processes, so I guess in a lot of cases, it's kind of inevitable and actually somewhat healthy if you use it as a cautionary tale to not get yourself into these situations again. Basically, if you learn from it and remain civil even if you do dwell on it occasionally, it's okay (as long as it doesn't depress you and you can deal with it rationally).

Anyone else really hate it when there's a camera crew out in public filming something for a TV show or whatever? I know they're just doing their job, but I walked past one on my way to college this morning and I'm just praying I'm not in any footage. They were still there on my way back (about six and a half hours later), so I just took a long route home.

kinda giving myself away here, but it's surreal seeing the university you attended on national media for a mass shooting. I don't live there anymore, but I attended the same course (Sci, Tech, and Soc. , a liberal arts course) and had classes in the same ROOM that was shot up...

To clarify, the classroom on the middle floor ,which is the largest in the building, is open-design with laptop docks & screens (meant for collaboration-based classes.) It's used by many different departments. The rooms are huge (active-learning), but in this particular building, there are only two exits on complete opposite ends...That whole ordeal sounded horrifying.

*So the class was Anthropology and Society, so the Redditor was wrong.

I have a grievance meeting with my old job, and I'm really frustrated and don't want to go to it. I've already moved on and have a new, better job, won my hearing case against them, and now I just want to move on. They keep dragging this and it is the most frustrating, irritating thing ever. Just leave me alooooone old job! 😧

If you ever want a cheap laugh, go on Mumsnet and search for a term you just know they'll all be divided by (e.g. "porn", "hair dye", etc). I do it from time to time and let me tell you, it's an absolute goldmine. Who needs rumours when you have Mumsnet? The best source of drama.
