  1. I picked up my Rarezhut package from the post office on Monday! Everything was packaged really well, and it's nice to now that the new RarezHub also packages the items into reasonably sized packages (I'm looking at you, FJ...)!

Only complaint that I can think of is that while VIdoll's Focus I bought did include the obi, it was from the Limited edition rather than from the Regular edition I purchased XD It doesn't bother me though, just gave me a chuckle while I was ripping it.

  2. PURPLE STONE.

I won't even start talking about Kabukicho butterfly, but recently I've fallen in love with Kaitenmokuba's B-sides. 浮キ世ニ咲ケ and アドレナリンBANG! are like freaking heroin for me, I can't stop listening to them. They are so catchy and just all-around perfect party songs. I want nothing more than hear these songs live some day

I agree with those of you who said western VK bands singing in Japanese is awkward.  It totally is.  However, what they could do is do an original version in English, and then also do one in Japanese.  Example:  Gackt has released a few songs in Japanese with versions in Mandarin, Korean, etc.

Check out DiVOID and you might be surprised! Personally I think they were amazing, such a shame that they disbanded already.

For me, I also consider a band being VK from the connected/affiliated artists despite their look, but some may still be difficult to tell. xD

This is probably a very stupid question but I'm a noob. What makes a band/artist qualify as "visual kei"?

Today I've been staring at Yousei Teikoku (妖精帝國) a lot, and they look pretty VK to me, at least in their current 5-member formation (they were a duo for a long time). However, their music gets posted in the "General" download forum.

    Pros:

    - rock/metal/gothic genre

    - sometimes gothic-ish costumes

    - sometimes dictator theme (flag-waving, military-style costumes, "Doctrine" and "Propaganda" in album titles)

    - makeup & hairstyling

    Cons:

    - signed to "anime/game music" label Lantis

    - female vocalist with male band members (??? there aren't many VK bands with mixed genders)

    - probably not affiliated with any other VK bands (I'm guessing. I don't follow twitters and gossip and tours and what not)

    - .... i dunno what else

There are several mixed gender VK bands though, but I think the main reason they might not be considered VK is that they are signed to a anime/game music label. And as they are signed to such a label, they probably don't tour with visual kei bands --> they are not visual kei.

  5. I just noticed that the profile panel looks a bit messed up:

The twitter handle isn't centered, and there's a space missing after Location.

    I'm using Chrome 50.0.2661.87m.

EDIT: Also, the new widgets on the front page look so good!

  6. I would recommend them something based on my own taste, if they ask me for recommendations. I know my music taste is generally considered weird, and I don't like to flaunt around with my weird bands. When people ask what kind of music I listen to, I generally answer that I like Japanese underground rock, as weird as it sounds lol. If they actually seem interested, I'd link them a few videos from Youtube or compile for them a short mix tape.

I think I've linked a few VK videos to people maybe once or twice in the past five years, and I chose harder bands because they were into metal. I think I showed them Nocturnal Bloodlust (lol) and some other heavy band.

Yeah, I also really don't like the "sea of cellphones", specially those who only takes pictures with flash. But I also don't enjoy staff trying to act all mighty and powerful when I try to take one or two pictures with my crappy phone to show off on the internet...

Professional equipment is whole another story tho, that I can understand.

When you multiply taking one or two pictures with the amount of people in the audience, it's an instant "sea of cameras."

I'd rather spend my time dancing and headbanging than taking a few shitty pictures I will never watch again.

  8. As others have already mentioned before me, I think the biggest reason is to keep the perfect image and to not have unflattering pictures of the band members online.

Every single VK gig overseas that I've attended has had this policy. And I think it's great, because it frees the audience to just enjoy the concert instead of trying to capture the perfect picture of your favorite member (which will just fail miserably anyways). I don't think they enforce the policy to sell their own photosets though, since those are usually the official photos and not photos taken during concerts.

The modern VK copy-pasta formula song writing. Heavy verse, melodic chorus, heavy verse, breakdown, bridge, rinse, repeat. I know 90 percent of these new shitty kei flavor-of-the-week bands are just learning how to write songs but for fuck's sake try something new.

You just described my favorite kind of song <3 XD

  10. Once Zess ate beans that tasted like shit, thinking, "what the dick?", so threw them at the cat cause he is such a crazy little bastard. After drycleaning vigorously, everything bursted into some form of hypergalactic flames and the couch started transforming into something sexy like boobs which performed lap dances which seemed very outerspacey wtf? Followed masturbating on my frisky frisby with rage and passion, because CAT5 didn't lick his favourite orifice. Then, a
