Did the same thing a month-or-so ago at a gas station (Sheetz). It shocked me as well, considering how nondistinct the orange-vanilla flavor was from regular Coke (I feel like cola already has that tinge of vanilla.) I guess it's a blessing that the one new soda I try after several months of just water (and occasional sprite) tastes like ass.

Heart react for Sheetz. Sheetz is the truth. King of all gas stations.

Really, though, I always knew the sugar content in this stuff was high, but I literally took a sip, looked, and said "WHAT!!!"

Not exactly the paragon of health myself, but 129% is pretty hard to ignore.

    Back to LaCroix I go...

No, I mean, the number of their attendees, not the audience participation/vibe.

I think it was said on here or in video comments that this was a non-VK metal show and they ended up playing last, so all of the people were either specifically there for them or just wanted to stick around and see what they were all about.

Not sure if I'm mixing it up with a different event, but I feel like I read that when other videos from this set were posted, so that probably explains the crowd-size.

  3. I don't like that I don't really like this. I don't know what it is, it's just...missing something? Some of the riffs are weirdly out of key which I think I'd usually find sorta interesting, but it doesn't really work for me here because the melodies on top of them aren't strong enough to carry it. His harsh vocals don't sound too great, either.

All of that in mind, I do have to give them credit because the song is definitely interesting, just not really sitting right with me for some reason.

  4. I think they sound pretty damn good in that clip?

I think the instrumentals sound as they should in a live setting and any difference in Sho's vocal performance seems more emotive than anything. Can definitely sense a bit of exhaustion, but I think he sounds fine.

Also, I know it's been said that Sho inhales most of his harsh vocals, but there were a few points in that video specifically that sounded exhaled rather than inhaled. Maybe he's experimenting a bit with his delivery? I certainly hope so - inhales seem less ideal for one's vocal cords overall and he's got such talent I'd like to see him stay healthy.

  5. Interested to see what it is, exactly. New songs or something related to CHEDOARA? (@yomii pointed out yesterday that CHEDOARA came from the word kidoairaku) Hope some kind soul grabs a copy and rips it!

Either way, also glad actual news is still hitting past the new looks. Makes hopeful we'll finally hear a bit of new music soon.

Hey guys, I'm starting to play guitar and the amp distortion looks awkward. The last 3 strings sound won't distort unless I play 2 of them together.

So I'm buying a pedal and I don't really know what is good for VK/metal/hard rock.  Tips?

Some off-amp distortion/overdrive that most swear by are Boss HM-2 (super heavy), Big Muff (super fuzzy), or Fulltone OCD (maybe the best overdrive pedal of all time). If you want something fun and wild to mess around with for super cheap, you could look into a Danelectro Fabtone. For really straightforward old-school distortion, the simple Ross Distortion pedal can do no wrong.

  7. I think my thoughts on their original stuff is that their mini-albums were more standout than the full-lengths. MADARA and Cockayne Soup have some of the most standout Gazette tracks ever. I like Disorder a lot, NIL is pretty good imo, and Stacked Rubbish has Filth in the Beauty/Hyena which bump extra hard. I guess after listening to them all in succession DOGMA stands out to me because it feels like everything after those albums fully realized in a cohesive package.

I'll always dig the early mini-albums, but when it comes to "the GazettE" I feel like DOGMA is the album I'm most likely to revisit. (Though The Invisible Wall has been stuck in my head for days now...)

    @nomemorial's status post got me on a Kagrra, binge (on YouTube), and I found one of their lives where they play some of their older songs. Watching it just makes me really wish I could have gone to at least one of their lives before they disappeared ;w;

WOW amazed this entire thing is on YouTube. Cannot wait to watch through.

  9. Last night I had a dream that I went to church camp and ran into by David Bowie who was flanked by a troupe of church girl groupies. I expressed my shock that it was really him, at which point he nodded and shook my hand before asking if I'd "like to dock my ship in the command bay." I do not know what he meant by this, but it sounds like innuendo and dream me thought so as well. I made a face and before I could further question his meaning he tried to sell me a stack of bootleg CDs and a tray of IKEA meatballs.

    Lunesta's a hell of a drug.

The Transition from DIVISION to NINTH is by far one of the best examples of growth.

Their earlier material is great but i can only listen to em on occasion.

DOGMA Era will always be the best GazettE era.

    Deux>>>>>>> These Niggas's entire discography.

If anyone has an issue or disagrees, I'm willing to throw hands and probably lose.

No doubt. Plus when RAGE goes in on that super fast d-beat bit...YES

  11. Thanks for posting - first I've heard of these guys. This PV is giving me bigtime old indies VK vibes with the production, haha. (not a bad thing)

I will say, I'm a bit dismayed every time I hear something from a new band and they go straight into the metalcore chugs. Some bands really do it right, but it's gotten a bit stale in my opinion.  Being that they're a brand new band, though, I'll be intrigued to see where they go.

  12. @Nighttime Jae That's actually, oddly enough, one of the things that intrigued me about them. Their products are almost entirely chemical-based and my understanding is that their whole logic is that "sure, there are plenty of things in nature that people put in skincare, but we've tested these specific things scientifically to see how they affect the skin and these are our findings." They're pretty much all in on the fact that their entire line is rooted in chemicals and "non-natural" things (even the packaging kind of reflects this). I was hesitant for the same reason, but I've had better results with their stuff than I have many other things I've tried to add to my routine in the past.

@nomemorial I've been wanting to try products from The Ordinary for quite a while now (they're so unbelievably cheap!) but I don't know where to start. What are some of your favorites? Maybe that'll help me narrow down some of my choices. I HAVE been eyeing the niacinamide + zinc and the AHA + BHA peeling solution one though.

All I've personally used is the Matrixyl, but my wife has been using the Vitamin C solution, the Cold-pressed Marula Oil, and this caffeinated under-eye serum that I've been meaning to try. We've only been buying their stuff for the past few months but it's all been a success so far, so I really don't think you can go wrong with any of it!

  14. Listened to every full-length album/mini-album from the GazettE over the course of the last week since I hadn't done so in a very long time (really never gave a lot of their full-lengths the proper time of day until DOGMA).

I'm having trouble ranking them in my head, but I do like NINTH much more this time around than when it first came out. DOGMA is still my favorite and overall their most consistent effort. MADARA is the best of their pre-"the GazettE" material and one of their best releases overall, really did a great job of capturing multiple genres in a tightly wrapped package.

Disorder, NIL, Stacked Rubbish, and DIM had some really standout tracks (the first two being interesting to me as they feel very transitional sound-wise from "ガゼット" to "the GazettE" - I do think there is a bit of a stylistic difference between the two, even if only because of time and growth). Toxic feels the least memorable to me immediately. Division and Beautiful Deformity both surprised me as I felt they ended up being better than expected as a whole.

Whoever said a few posts up that they're consistent in terms of sound, but maybe not songwriting, kinda hit the nail on the head. None of their albums are bad in my opinion, but it's also a bit difficult in immediate succession to judge the strongest output since many of the songs run together and feel similar to one another.

DOGMA and NINTH are definitely a cut above the rest, though.

Overall I think they're at their strongest when they work in extremes - their REALLY aggressive tracks and their more reserved, ballad-style tracks are their most memorable and the ones I'm most likely to go back to. The stuff that sits in the more nu-metal/alt-rock range isn't bad (and is certainly better than most western bands floating in those genres), it just runs together a bit more than the rest.

    /end long post 😅

  15. I'm really enjoying this season overall - I think there's a lot of great camaraderie, I'm just not a huge fan of Silky and Ra'jah's personalities. I love A'keria, Yvie, and Vanjie, though. Nina, Plastique, and Brooke Lynn are very strong competitors, too. Really excited for Snatch Game (as always)!!
