Normally I would suspect that some random seller on Yahoo wanted to make some money and just faked the tape. But Kisaki's official site confirms the cover and tracklist and it's pretty weird in itself that the tracklist is 2/3 of the Nude-of-J tape. Which is another thing, the Nude-of-J tape has 3 tracks, so it's not just that the tape somehow ended up in the wrong case, someone must have gone through the trouble to copy over those 2 songs specifically.
 
 
Aaaaand there's more. I recently got the mp3s for another purported early Kisaki band, SHEY≠DE, via trade. It was later brought to my attention that they were probably fake. Fake files can happen in trades, although my source was usually a very realible one. One of the tapes I got is also on Kisaki's homepage, this one:

So, I showed my files to another japanese guy I know who's very knowledgable about old vk stuff, he said the tape I got was actually by a band called INSANITY.
 
And here's where it gets interesting.

The tracklist is slightly different, but look at the cover! It's the same as on Kisakis page, except that one is red!

The first song on the SHEY≠DE tape has been altered with the name of the actual band (!), and the second one has been replaced with xxxxx (!!). The third song of the INSANITY tape was used as title for the SHEY≠DE tape (!!!). Now that's creative! But hey, at least he came up with a COMPLETLY NEW fake name for the 3rd song this time. And he re-colored the cover in Photoshop. That's gotta be worth something, right?
 
The INSANITY tape was sold for 1000 Yen btw. The seller could have asked for a lot more for a SHEY≠DE tape, so there's no reason whatsoever for him to fake a SHEY≠DE tape into an INSANITY tape.
 
 
At first I thought I was spoofed by a tricky trader. But there seems to be more to it. So after the dubious LAYBIAL and Levia tapes.... make it three.

Here is the lyrics sheet from Nude of J's tape.
If you have trouble with Japanese, just pay attention to the English parts. They're the same songs.
To make it clear.. I'm not saying they just covered the songs, but those "Levia" songs Naaaaani uploaded are Nude of J - exactly the same recording.
And Nude of J were indeed a real band, which was active for about 8 years (they had different lineups and were called Bijou later).
There's definitely something very fishy about Kisaki's history...

It seems like Hisui tried to use every motif from his previous works here to express as much Madeth as possible.

Both parties sure have points, but what bugs me more is that so many people paint the "elders" of the scene as narcistic assholes who are jealosuy of other bands and who try to overestimate their own success. Because his is not true. Of what should the elders be jealous? And why? After all, groups like LUNA SEA, KJamaitachi, X Japan and Pierrot were extremely popular and influential on the genre. It wouldn't really make sense if they were jealous of all these bands in the VK scene that started out (in one point of history) as their copy bands. New Visual kei is vastly different from old VK, but if you trace back the history of any modern band, epecially big bands like the Gazette, you will always end at LUNA SEA and their peers from that time.

Also I am sure that most modern VK musicians are aware of the influence those old bands had. I am sure too that they all admire their elders. Therefore painting the elders as ignorant, envious assholes is pretty mean and not right. Also: why aren't they allowed to give their own opinion on VK? They were pretty much the creators, the fathers of VK. If it wasn't for them, VK wouldn't even be a thing nowadays. So they have all the reason to talk about it as they want. You don't have to agree with them, you don't even need to listen to them. It doesn't hurt you either that most of them disllike what their "baby" has grown into. I don't really understand how sensible one can be when the opinion of one musician makes you so angry that you have to talk bad about them. But maybe I am just growing sick and tired of people banging their heads against each other, just because their precious Kyo has said something about VK which they didn't like. (Also sure that in at least 20 years the popular VK bands of today will say the same about the next generation of VK bands)

And on a side note: LUNA SEA and Co. were definitely original, at least in their time span, when VK wasn't really thing and not many bands played in this style. In my opinion they are even original today. There may have been a lot of copy cats, but no other band actually reached the same level they had. Their impact on the japanese music scene was pretty big too, and wasn't just limited to futire Visual kei, but probably japanese rock music in general. I doubt that Sugizo is envious of "modern stuff" as their music is timeless and perfect as it is. And show me any modern day VK band that has reached the same legendary status, influence and fame that LUNA SEA have, please. And I am saying this as someone who isn't such a big fan of them. But I am not an igorant idiot and claim that they are a forgettable band who didn't pull of anything.

(I may agree with the statement about Angelo, but not Dir en grey. The latter don't even have any connection to VK anymore, so comparing their current stylistic direction with the stagnation of today's VK scene is far-fetched. And them playing their old songs form time to time doesn't really count and doesn't make them VK)

Alright, I guess I can more or less confirm that Kisaki's Levia existed .. but there's now even more confusion regarding the tapes.
 
There is this auction where someone sold Levia's KELOID tape and the seller also describes that it's Kisaki's band and that the tape contains 2 tracks (which fits to the official listing on Kisaki's site).

And guess what.. That's the 滅びの序章 tape that was on RarezHut ! Some time ago when I asked @Biopanda about it, he told me that it's a different Levia and not Kisaki's so I always assumed there were two Levia bands. Kisaki's sources never listed a tape called 滅びの序章 either.
But then I took a closer look at Levia's history on his official site and spotted something...
 
 
There are 4 dates where a demo tape was distributed at their live. One of them is called "My Duel" so I guess we can drop that one. The others don't have a title mentioned.
After some more google work I (woops..I mean hyura xD) found this picture from an old auction:

 
Now this looks familiar, right?
My conclusion is.. this might be indeed Kisaki's Levia and it's the tape that was distributed on two days on christmas in 93 - black-white on one day and green the other day.
I'd like to ask anyone who owns this tape, or Biopanda who sold it .. What is written on the inlay/sheet or whatever comes with that demo. Are there any member names? And where does the title 滅びの序章 come from, is it written somewhere? It's a bit weird that Kisaki doesn't mention this title while being so thorough and accurate when it comes to his history.
By looking at those crappy pics on it, that guy on the left kinda looks like a young Kisaki and his Levia also had 3 members.
 
There is still one thing that supports the -2 Levia's- theory:
On the website of CLUB GIO Ichikawa there are numerous "LEVIA" lives listed for 1993. But like already mentioned in this thread, Kisaki's band never played in CLUB GIO and the shows listed there don't fit to the ones on Kisaki's site at all.

^Oh yeah, the american Glam Punk Scene from the early 90s. I actually already wondered myself, if they influenced VK, or if they were influenced by japanese glam instead. But my first reaction to a glamour Punks images was: "Man, that looks like early Visual kei!"

I mean this one:

Same goes for other bands of the scene, such as Queeny Blast Pop, Foxxy Roxx, Pretty Boy Floyd, Heart Throb Mob, etc.

In another thread about VKs musical origins and influences we also mentioned the New Wave and New Romantic scene and a pic of Visage was posted here as well. I think it's hard to say that VK just grew out of Glam and Punk bands. Buck-Tick were for sure a huge influence on the looks and music, but I'd never throw them into the same box as Color, X Japan, Dead End or even D'ERLANGER. Instead, they always appeared to be more on the New Wave spectrum. And I think we often forget the huge influence japanese goth artists had. MADAME EDWARDA and Auto-Mod are proven to have had a wide influence as well.

*The title of the song is the japanese title of the non fiction novel Sybil by  Flora Rheta Schreiber. The song was also rereleased as シビル －リミックスヴァージョン－ (Sybil -remix version). Read on for babble and spoilers on the book.



**Janus is a roman god who is almost always portrayed with two faces, sometimes even more.

The original lyrics do contain the spaces between lines but not the paragraphs, they were added by me to keep it readable since the romaji and translation lengthens the whole thing quite a bit.

The latter one can kind of work, I suppose, but only in a smaller group. As a member of another VK community with ~40 users that puts potential users through an interview/peer-review process that has had over 300 uploads without a single one leaking to blogs, it can certainly work. Though I guess it only takes one person to make the whole thing come tumbling down. As far as here goes though, I'm pretty sure nothing can be done. Maybe public shaming? Find people reposting uploads on blogspots and change their avatar to a big floppy penis and their sig to something like "I love donkey dicks".

Lol, I recently came across that band when browsing random japanese music sites. They are called "FLY OR DIE".

Please note that while the romaji (=sung version) always differs a little from the original in Hisuis lyrics, they do so especially in this one.
The lyrics are in past tense but a big part of them is sung in present tense or no tense at all, many words are simply omitted.
The two middle parts (in quotation marks) are not printed in the booklet, but taken from the 白昼夢の惨劇 live limited single's case. (One version had the lyrics, the other one the middle parts)

@Keiyuu requested me to translate Lepra recently, so here it is.
It's the first song La'Mule ever made, first released in '96 and always held a special place in the bands' repertoire. It was also rereleased by the name of Desert Moon in 2000. That title actually fits the romantic colours of the song much better since the only topic vaguely related to lepra would be 'something that fell into pieces'.
This translation is based on the lyrics for the original demotape, but they weren't changed too much later on.
