It sounds like they found a way to make Byou's voice work for where they are now musically. These sound pretty good. Favorites are: Burst Forth, Spiral of Mistrust, Obsession, Wasuretaitsukanohi. So far better than their previous album.
  2. They really know how to carry a theme! Really well done epic new song from the album! The previews sound wonderful! I love how it all flows together! Can't wait for the whole album to be out!

and now my current obsession is Arlequin! THEY ARE AWESOME!!!
  4. He looks so happy playing drums with them! I'm glad the fire is back into UNITE. Great song!

So your crediting all of Gazette's success to their promotion? If that's the case, how come other bands in PS Company aren't as big except Alice Nine. Also, PS Company gets a lot of slack, but they do spot really good talent Miyavi...Kagrra...to name a few others. They don't just sign anybody they find. So to give their hype to just their promotion I don't believe is the reason. The majority of comparisons people make on here come from a band either 1. sounding like Dir en Grey or 2. sounding like the Gazette. They have more influence then you think and I can spot numerous references of their songs which I will gather later but now I have to go to work.
  6. yes yes and more yes!

Am I the only one who has been obsessed with XtripX since they've come back? Also, anything TenTen does musically. Honestly, I hate the shit out of country music but if TenTen did it, I'd have to grab my cowboy hat and boots.

I think for Gazette, they were the next in line of influential bands that have shaped VK now. First it was bands like X Japan, Buck Tick, etc then there was the Dir en Grey era and then following them came the Gazette era of influence. If you were to have ice cream and the majority of VK music today was Dir en Grey's influence, then Gazette's influence would be the toppings. While Dir en Grey's music became increasingly darker and at times depressing, Gazette kept a raw fun vibe about them. There music is almost always (skipping the majority of Toxic) composed perfectly no matter how generic it sounds. It always stays fun and catchy and they provide a fun party vibe when they perform.

What is the hype over DIV? They have some great songs here and there (Justice, Hyouryuu Kanojo) but overall the singing stays safe and a lot of their songs are standard VK songs IMO (Seasons, You, Taste of Life, Point of View). And what is the hype for Kiryu? A lot of their music sounds the same to me and their singers voice is kind of annoying at times.

I think Dir en Grey is hyped because they are the starting point of influence for most VK bands today. No one really looks to the original starting bands anymore (X Japan, Buck Tick, etc).

2:00 - 2:22 also love the tricks they all do during the ending part with the drum roll. 2:28 - 2:53 Not a fan really of the song, but I thought that breakdown was awesome 1:53 - 2:26

For Nightmare, I'd probably like them with a different singer to be honest. For the Gazette, I would like them to drop toxic and division from their discography and never do all those electronic or bleepy bleepy or bloop or all that sfx again.
  15. jduv86

From Drain Away down, I was happy. The majority of the album is going to be awesome!
  16. jduv86

Gazette got me into the scene. I love im'. The only Nightmare album I fully enjoyed was "The World Ruler" and then a couple of singles like "Shian", and "Melody"....but Gazette...I have so many favorites of theirs.

  20. With TenTen coming back in My Bacterial Heat Island, which band prior do you think is better? I'm not including Hanamuke or Kiss My Way. They don't have enough material and Tenten really wasn't brought to light in any of those groups as much as CP and Kurt so it's a fight between those two. CHEMICAL PICTURES: Kurt: This is tough. I think Chemical Pictures had some extremely cool instrumentals and I believed they kept up the interest with every release until they ended. Kurt had some amazing songs in the beginning but at the end, they started to slack and the songs were lacking the awesomeness they started with. However, I have to go with Kurt because I believe the song writing was better in that band and I think TenTens voice was perfect in that era. I still have most of Kurt's discography on my computer because the songs were more addictive then anything Chemical Pictures put together. Even though I liked the instrumentals of CP, I felt like every song was just missing a little something that would have taken it over the edge though I can't place my finger on it. Kurt never missed a mark. Even when they were starting to go down hill, it was only at the end and it didn't overshadow the sheer awesomeness they unleashed already. Kurt FTW.
  21. Vidoll. Catchy songs and Jui's voice is one of the top singers in VK. I have so many fond memories of Vidoll. IMO the "V.I.D." album destroys all or at least most Phantasmagoria's music.
  22. woot! It seems like they will be putting out music as fast as Chemical Pictures did.

Like everyone else said, this is just ok which is sad to me because everyone knows I'm Tenten's bitch basically. He has been my favorite VK singer since Kurt. I will follow that man through everything. That being stated, here we go: 1. I don't mind brutal at all, but I feel this is kind of forced and repetitive after awhile. Also, I'm all about melodic unexpected choruses, but this one really seems to just pop out of no where and doesn't seem to fit in the song. It is a catchy chorus though. Some parts of the song, it seems like Tenten is straining... 3/5 2. Another brute....very similar to the 1st song, but this seems to flow better and the singing doesn't seem so forced. I love how Tenten sounds in this song. If he's going for this style of music now, I think this nails it really well. Didn't go overboard with brutality for no reason...really thought they were going to pull a standard chug fest for the breakdown, but I like what they did instead. Catchy, nice overall flow....nothing special, but still a really good song overall. 4/5 3. a 3rd brute, but a very interesting main riff with the glitch effect or is that a delay effect? ...this song is probably the most stand out song. Lots of interesting ideas put together to form an unique song and unlike the other songs, this doesn't repeat as much. I like how the instrumental in the chorus seems to be restrained a little. Decent song. 3.5/5 4. finally a little lighter melody. I like like songs like this. It reminds me of songs like Kurt's "Sweet Lemon Broker" or CP "Reincarnation", etc, etc...these like melodic rock songs. However, unlike the ones listed, this isn't on par with them. It's nice, but nothing special. Just good. 3/5 Pros: - Tenten's back in action! - I heard some really cool drumming going on! - Not a bad song on here - Catchy Cons: - Nothing really stands out - Tenten sounds strained in some parts of the song - Lots of repetitiveness outside of chorus... Overall: 3/5 Just enough to make me happy with it until they start unleashing some mega monster singles like they did for Chemical Pictures, if they go that route release wise. I hope they do release quickly like Chemical Pictures because they found a great way to release frequently AND still make quality songs. A promising start.

w-wait! WHAT!?!?! XD Now I have to go watch that PV....don't judge me. Anyway! Back on subject, I prefer Lycaon because overall I enjoyed way more of their songs then CQ. I've never actually listen to a CQ song more than once consciously. They usually just pop up randomly in my player while I'm engulfed in working on art or something. Lycaon, I still have all of their songs before their bassist and drummer left them and listen to them daily.

I can say I've enjoyed more songs of Royz than Kiryu. I think it is subconsciously Mahiro's voice that makes me not Kiryu that much though I enjoyed their newest album more than Royz's album.
