Awesome! Nothing is set in stone yet but it sounds very likely at this point that I'll end up there soon.

I liked a couple of songs on it. The first real track and I think SANG I were my two favorites, and I liked the lareine-ish song on in the middle. That being said: too many SE interludes and I'm ready for him to do something else thematically. 

I haven't listened to it a ton because I'm waiting to be able to stream it / buy it on iTunes, but kammykams isn't putting it up anywhere digitally.

Ahh I really liked Theme of Sang, Vampire Rock Star, Mystery, and Sang II the most I think. 

I'm actually disappointed by Immortal Verses. I think it's only marginally better than Recurrence Of Hallucination because even though we get five "new" songs, they still sound recycled and partly copied & pasted from older SS or Hora's solo material 😔 Also, Kaya is a great singer but the vocals sound a little strange in the mix at times. Vocals should never invoke the image of "guy in small room singing loudly into a mic", at least not with such persistence as is the case with this mini. Where's Schwarz Stein's ethereal vibe? It's like they lost touch with themselves. Wachtraum is the only song I didn't want to skip on first listen 😕 

Hora's RESONANT on the other hand really surprised me. I was expecting the same old but he actually seems to have progressed a little sonically with this one. It's a very somber, moody, and atmospheric album. He seems to have borrowed a little from movie soundtracks and put his own spin on it which I really like (I was getting strong Disasterpiece ["It follows" soundtrack] vibes for example).

I kind of agree with you. My girlfriend is a big fan and didn't seem to be blown away either.  I agree about the mixing and everything. I don't feel like this album really makes up for the awful Kaya solo singles we've dealt with recently. 😔

I'll give hora's new album a try tomorrow. 

They have TOO many bangers not to be. Sad to see how they've diminished over time though...

I think they are of a pretty high "Legend Status", so to speak, at least based on their success in Japan. They probably get a little less praise then you'd proportionally expect in the western fan world.

Every time I revisit Nightmare, I'm impressed at how good a lot of their songwriting is. Particularly, from like 2004-2008 I find, every album is full of really dense, but easy to listen to, tunes. I listened to Killer Show for the first time in ages a few days ago and I was amazed how much of a melodic contribution the bass was. Great bass lines and total earworm guitar solos on every track, it's crazy. Only thing that got a little annoying was how formulaic every track felt on that album, but you've got an album like anima, in contrast, which is full of some really varied and progressive tracks.

Agree... i found the song itself generic too, the chorus kinda saves it for me and ecstasy is just lame lol

I'm listening to it on YT. I wish Kamijo relied more on guitars and bass and not so much on those cheap synthetic symphonic sounds. They're exhausting after a time and they don't really add quality to his music.

Japanese has its charm; no need for English; even less if he can't pronounce it decently. Part of the charm in listening to Japanese music is the language itself.
