Slsr got a reaction from PsychoΔelica in Suggestion: non vkei and vkei news sections
With this late surge of non visual news to news section I have been thinking whether news should have vkei and non vkei sections, so wondering what would people think about this suggestion (so is it just stupid or simply bad? ...)

    My thoughts:
Though I'd have a bit mixed feeling for forum being divided like this even more, it would also be something that makes sense as divided user base here is a very real thing anyway and with this change both fans of vkei and non vkei (or fans of both) could be able to keep up with news they want in more optimal way. besides I feel forum might get more news posted about non vkei if it had section for it and though forum could possibly grow to be more relevant when it comes to non visual music (right now news section is mostly about vkei anyway.)

    Main questions:
Are these sections really needed and is there enough demand for non visual news for all of this to make sense anyway?

Vocalist 正和 (Masakazu) (Ex-M) has opened twitter and has been recording in studio with guitarist アオ(Ao) (ex-M), however details regarding band/project are yet to be officially announced.  Still it would seem only fair to assume they have been recording with bassist てつや (Tetsuya) (ex-M) and drummer トヲル (Toworu) (ex. ムジナ(Mujina.)) as their blog posts already suggested they had been rehearsing together in last autumn, Toworu and Tetsuya have also created twitter accounts though they are yet to be used. Guitarist Ao has also posted to his blog about recording. It would appear project would likely be non visual as in recording person twitter it was referred as non visual system rock band.

Damn, you never get some things until they actually happen. Like just how long one can be happy about fact their favorite band's guitarist suddenly returning to studio recording stuff after 3½ years break that you thought might just very well never end. It feels just still surreal thing to happen even now after 4 days O_O. I guess musicians can have amazing power in their hands after all, wonder if they even realize it... Like surely must be there is other people too besides me for who favorite bands and musicians have such high value. I actually bet I will feel all uplifted because of all this for really long time, lol.

No idea where to post this so i'll just do it here since it's most important/relevant to uploaders.

If you share iTunes purchases, make sure your iTMS Scrubber is updated. Apparently iTunes has sneakily added a new DRM field called "owner" which extracts your full name from your OS system files. This field is currently not erased by iTMS Scrubber v2.3 (for Windows), which is the version I believe most of us are using. I verified this by making a purchase 20 minutes ago and running the Scrubber, and my name wasn't erased.

Here are the steps to manually update your Scrubber - you only have to perform it once.

Open itms-scrubber.cmd in Notepad or a text editor. If you're unable to see the "Open with..." option, go to Folder Options in your Control Panel, unhide file extensions for known file types, and append .txt to your itms-scrubber.cmd to force-open it in Notepad.

Now the 6th line of the code should read:

    FOR /R %%f IN (*.m4*) DO START /W tools\atomicparsley-utf8 "%%f" --DeepScan --manualAtomRemove moov.trak.mdia.minf.stbl.stsd.mp4a.pinf --manualAtomRemove moov.trak[2].mdia.minf.stbl.stsd.avc1.pinf --manualAtomRemove moov.trak.mdia.minf.stbl.stsd.mp4a.UUID --manualAtomRemove moov.udta.meta.ilst.apID --manualAtomRemove moov.udta.meta.ilst.sfID --manualAtomRemove moov.udta.meta.ilst.purd --manualAtomRemove moov.udta.Xtra --freefree 0 -W

    Replace this with:

    FOR /R %%f IN (*.m4*) DO START /W tools\atomicparsley-utf8 "%%f" --DeepScan --manualAtomRemove moov.trak.mdia.minf.stbl.stsd.mp4a.pinf --manualAtomRemove moov.trak[2].mdia.minf.stbl.stsd.avc1.pinf --manualAtomRemove moov.trak.mdia.minf.stbl.stsd.mp4a.UUID --manualAtomRemove moov.udta.meta.ilst.apID --manualAtomRemove moov.udta.meta.ilst.sfID --manualAtomRemove moov.udta.meta.ilst.purd --manualAtomRemove moov.udta.Xtra --manualAtomRemove moov.udta.meta.ilst.ownr --freefree 0 -W

You can toggle file extensions off if you've previously shown them to edit the file. That's all, the scrubber should remove the new field now. Steps should be similar for Mac version, though I'm unable to confirm that since I'm on Windows.

    Hope this helps

Slsr reacted to Karma’s Hat in MEJIBRAY - THE"420"THEATRICAL ROSES
I have just listened to this album once with the second play-through going on as I'm writing this, but I'm doubtful my mind about this will change since it's Mejibray being Mejibray. Here's some notes from first impressions.

How Mejibray functions is akin to a factory at this point as the releases come out consistently in consistent quality. They stay true to the form and the wheel remains un-reinvented, with most of the experimentation being rather subtle and mostly just small variations to the particular mold their songs are made from; and that said this album will not win over anyone who has disliked them in the past. The band definitely has a trademark sound courtesy of the production job, MiA's power metal infused metalcore riffage and Tsuzuku's rough and effortlessly cool vocals. All the elements they've had in the past are very much present here, and it is an album for fans and the people who come in expecting something other than just ol' bijuaru with tsuzuku & co. will be disappointed.

The songs tend to feel a little samey during the 70 minute long behemoth, however this also manages to make the album feel very coherent. In the past where they would do very formulaic A-side, a little more upbeat B-side and the heavy B-side single track listings, here there's none of that "variety" as some would put it. A lot of the songs have similar paces and there's almost a complete absence of gimmick. The pacing is perfect especially with the Kisaki ballad being in the middle, though while I did certainly notice the absence of their always-quality A-sides on the second haafu, it didn't really matter too much...

And in fact, to me most gripes I'd have don't really matter because I just like the sound that they have. I think the riffs are kind of corny, they recycle shit like hell and Tsuzuku is the uncrowned king poseur of the visual kei scene, but that's kind of the appeal here. Tsuzuku is as charming as ever with the choruses being a definite highlight, and to me he could make an entire album where he just recites a phone book from beginning to end and I'd probably enjoy listening to it.
And as crappy as I think a lot of their riffs are, they do work for me in the context of everything. The non-single tracks while do lack the pop sensbility, are just really solid Mejibray tracks with hits and misses here and there, but I don't really care lol. I would say that overall this is some of their best material to date. There's no shit like HATE on this album which is gr8 2

Pretty nice band imo, vocals are still rather personal sounding though so I think vocal performance might be a bit controversial with this band, I like it though personally at least. BTW you can get their latest work from bandcamp (link below) in price you name, so maybe throw them some yens while getting it if you liked them if you can. They are very small and ug band anyway.

Slsr reacted to Pretsy in Kyary Pamyu Pamyu - Pikapika Fantajin
Additional note by me: I know that many people around here have a lot against this artist - I do get it of course (sometimes it's either a) her vocals or her overboard, quirky and naive "musical status"). But seeing as fortunately some people manage to get over these pretexts - and see that she definitely deserves her own position in Nakata's "girl-vocal-group-trio" (Kyary-Perfume-Capsule these days), who for their part deserve respect for being able to convey Nakata's lively world of electro music. Those who are quite interested - AND acknowledge "the man behind Kyary", know certainly what I'm saying.

    Tracklist with romanizations:

Now that we have a producer, who's definitely on fire release-wise - we have a chance to look at his...or in this case, Kyary's new full-length called "Pikapika Fantajin". Some people felt that Kyary's release tempo was getting too fast, and thus some singles ended up being quite "effortless" according to the general critic fanbase (especially in Japan, hm). But in the end the album itself managed to reveal some truly welcome surprises , and I am going to take them into account as well as I review this piece...

After we get past the majestic-like intro, the album kicks out with three single tracks - "Kirakira Killer" ,"Yume no Hajima Ring Ring"'s album mix and "Mottai Night Land". "Kirakira" is a full-on, upbeat and typical Kyary track, so there's not really much to say about it - other than that it's quite great, and works well as a possible "indicator of typical Kyary-istic sound". Yume no Hajima Ring Ring on the other hand caused some "small ruckus" in Japanese netizens' part due to various plagiarism/"zero effort"-crapstorms. Quite unfortunate that this child-like, but nicely nostalgic piece got too much hate - and in vain. Yes - the song itself was way too straight-forward as a Kyary's single song, but Nakata interestingly enough took some notes from general reaction towards his piece - and rearranged some parts (especially the final chorus which sounds much more...nostalgic and epic, hehe) for this album. My positive opinion didn't change at all even after some "obvious renovations" in this album mix - best single out of "Pikapika" over here! "Mottai" instead has nothing much to pinpoint - very straightforward effort as well, but I think ragtime-y piano saves it from becoming a dull filler.

Then we move on to the song, who deserves a lot more than just this lousy paragraph - "Serious Hitomi". Quite a shocker for those familiar with Kyary's earlier repertoire, seeing as the song heavily relies on "real band sound": you can hear and jam freely along to the guitar soloing, dynamic bassline and nice drums. I cannot come up with any proper comparison for "Serious", but let's make a bit faraway fetch anyway: imagine if Kyary covered Tokyo Jihen's "indiest" songs - a la "FOUL" or "Noriki" for instance. Might sound too biased to be true, but at least it gives you a general idea about awesomeness happening here. Possibly the best song of Kyary? J/k, j/k...very good one though.

Rest of this album still needs more "digesting" - but on the other note, it makes you think whether Nakata was getting too lazy while making this album: "do do pi do" and "Tokyo Highway" are definitely the stars of "latter half", mainly thanks to their nods towards Nakata's other projects (Capsule and Perfume, respectively), but in the meanwhile we have songs like "Ring a Bell" and "Koi Koi Koi", which are just wayward silly - and Explorer, despite being quite an okay track (retro-y strings  ) , is definitely nothing close to the proper closer material, and thus leaves a listener confused. Where did "Chan Chaka Chan Chan"-like closers go, Nakata? I'd personally put "Yume no Hajima" here, thanks to its obvious farewell-like message.

I have nothing much to say about remaining single mixes - they are okay, albeit very straightforward efforts.

The release in general starts out quite solidly, but ends up quite lazily (the same problem occured in "Nanda Collection" as well). Positive thoughts-wise though, there are many tracks worth pinpointing - and my personal picks are:

Standouts: Serious Hitomi,  do do pi do, Tokyo Highway, Yume no Hajima Ring Ring
    Cool tracks: Kira Kira Killer
Okay tracks: Mottai Night Land, Family Party, Sungoi Aura, Explorer
Tracks worth the big fix:  Ring a Bell, Koi koi Koi
(I won't rate the title track - intro, duh)

    - Not really perfect, but still very solid release by Kyary...and Nakata. Might come back here to edit more if I have more to say/fix.

Slsr got a reaction from Tetora in My Opinion on Nocturnal Bloodlust`s Recent Remarks and Actions against `Piracy`
I don't understand whine about his comments, surely they are kinda silly but I feel he has every right to be mad anyway. thousands of people listening his work without ever paying one penny of it. It is pretty annoying, especially if you know how many of these people are, they think they are entitled to all this shit without doing anything (yes, I am talking about you)

Now personally I feel there is sometimes pretty reasonable reasons why somenone doesn't buy CDs and shit, I can get it. Piracy also isn't really that bad thing. it can be way for many people to get known of new bands etc. Problem I have with all this isn't really piracy, it is just that most people just exploit it without care in the world. They never buy anything even if they could afford it just because they just don't buy music even if they might enjoy it immensely. Therefore current state of industry is rather sad looking from musician point of view, often there is people who like artist/band work but many never won't buy any of it as they just don't buy music.

So in the end I can actually phrase problem here in two words, they are: people suck.
