The worst thing about daylight savings time is that I'm the only person in my house AND my office who is competent enough, or not too lazy, to change all the stupid clocks.

In addition to wall clocks and alarm clocks, there are...
Microwaves, stoves, thermostats, landline phones, cars, printers...
Half of those things don't even need to have a clock.

Gotta love Unsraw <3 I know the singer started Doak then disband then went solo? I miss his voice really. After Unsraw, I heard like maybe 1 or 2 songs from him then nothing...

On another note, I saw someone mentionning -OZ-. gosh I miss them too, they were one of my favorite, I know they don't scream all the time, but still, they were very good and I haven't heard anything about them since then.

I feel like the young CodeRebirth marked a turning point in VK when Katsuya and co. made a name for themselves as probably the most metalcore kids in the scene

And further cemented his sound with his solo project

loved them, and little known fact - XALTEA's drummer is actually Zyean from JILUKA

Omg guys haha, mentioning GREGORY, SINCE1889 and THE MAD SIMPSON brought so much memories. I remember blasting GREGORY in my car after work in 2010 lol. Love the thread! I also checked DictavE yesterday, it's nice (I saw your status). I love Nocturnal Bloodlust ofc, and DEVILOOF, as well as JILUKA. Hearing DEVILOOF's ruin surprised me, hearing a whole song with no clean vocals. Brought me back to my Children of Bodom, Kalmah, Arch enemy days haha. I feel like I will love this thread! Thanks

Mamo reacted to GreatNorthernVK in Piracy's role in visual kei
The international fan base was built on piracy. The same is true for many Western music scenes as well.

For the longest time, exposure to alternative forms of music was limited to subculture participation (which had various barriers, including age, location, cultural background, gate keepers, etc).

Before the introduction of file sharing and social media, most people listened to what was put in front of them (radio, television, albums that they’re friends and family already owned). Major labels largely controlled what was put out to media channels (and still do, especially in Japan).

What file sharing did was give people (and young people in particular) a chance to discover music that they would have never had the opportunity to listen to before. Who can just blindly buy multiple releases in the punk/hardcore/metal/goth/international section of the CD shop? It’s not like the radio or MTV ever played those bands anyways.

It’s even more ridiculous to expect those young people to blindly buy Japanese releases for two to three times the price of a domestic CD.

The only artists that are feeling the pinch from file sharing are the ones who already benefit from heavy major label promotion. There’s no excuse for not knowing what those artists sound like, because they’re *everwhere*. Restaurants, the mall, the gym, every radio station, pop-up ads. Or more specifically, their *labels* are the ones feeling the pinch.

TL;DR: Piracy increases exposure for bands that never would have been promoted by mainstream media channels, and can only increase revenues for alternative artists at the expense of the pop artists that those file sharers would have been listening to if not for the increased exposure of said alternative artists.

after a few more listens i think the song has really grown on me. it still definitely doesn't belong on dogma or even to the dark age (dawn was djenty but in a way that only suited dogma. falling's riffs suit toxic or the latter half of division), but i guess it's a fitting successor and it's catchy af...

I think this makes a lot of sense and should be taken into consideration for next trade-offs. Since most barely manage to meet the current deadlines, just extend it to the usual amount of time it takes for people to actually get them in. If even with that change they still are late then there's really no excuse.

And how does them doing this because they want to make bank make this fair? lol

Lmao you're forgetting a few important factors 1 they haven't been on some kind of long standing hiatus or something which is the case with many western bands who did similar things. 2 Those same western bands would charge less if it were a smaller venue and only charge in the upward 300s for larger venues. 3 Very often when western bands do tours of this sort they still offer tickets at a lower cost for seats that aren't as close to the stage and not just 2 set prices. 4 also they've been promising a new album for years now which makes the whole concept of performing old ass songs for no reason even more ridiculous.

Sorry guys but this is just another shameless cash grab. And to echo @Tokagethey are most definitely ruining their legacy in fact I really don't know if it could get any worse at this point, especially after the "We are X" sound track, good god!

Mamo reacted to The Bread Wolf in MH FEATURED POLL #50: How often, in a year, would you like to see a new Trade-Off hosted?
May I ask, why make a deadline if you do not expect people to meet the deadline? It's a bit silly, isn't it? Why not set it for later so that EVERYONE has enough time to do their work by the deadline? I mean, technically you've got 2 months for that since the trade-offs are hosted bi-monthly? Give them a couple of weeks to make their mix and a month to review them. That would set the expectations where they should be, no? If one person gets their review earlier, hooray for them and party on, yeah? But if they don't, then it's not a loss or a breach in rules. I always say keep low standards and be happily surprised when they're exceeded.

I mean seriously, if people are given plenty of time to do something and they attempt to do it at the last minute and THEN something comes along... yeah, that's kinda their fault, not their trade partner's. With the kind of systems where you'll just pat on the head someone who misses the deadline, you're effectively punishing the ones who keep their schedule in check, which seem to be the thing Mamo and suji are pointing out.
