I like this alot! I know nothing about composition, but this sounds to me like a ost more than anything, with alot of tonal (not harmony tonal, emotion tonal) changes and swaps. I think I will listen to it in my free time, take that as a compliment please

So, in my free time I like to dabble in composition. I don't really have a style yet, as it's just for fun, and I don't know much about music production.
 
I'm gonna start this thread with a song I started like 2 years ago and finally sat down and finished tonight. It's inspired from Castlevania music (specifically the soundtracks that Michiru Yamane worked on - Symphony of the Night, Lament of Innocence, etc.)
 
It starts off like a requiem but climaxes like an overture. If you like organs, harpsichord, and choral music, you might dig it.
 
 

Oh, definitely, sis. It's perfectly possible to separate the two. In fact, it's pretty easy. Plenty of people do it, and I've done it in the past too. But I just don't think it's a good idea to separate the two. And just because plenty of people do it and things seem fine on the outside, that doesn't necessarily make it functional.
 
Like, let's look at it. What's the end goal of lust? To basically "get off", to "bust a nut", to "feel good",right? Ok. Well then what's love? We could say that it's investing in someone else as you would yourself. Caring for someone else as you would yourself. Doing right by someone else regardless of how you feel. I think those are pretty sound definitions.
 
So you can imagine if you remove love from sex and you simply engage in it for lust's sake, well then you open up the door to all manner of dysfunction. Because if you're operating under lust, then feeling good becomes your highest priority. There's nothing wrong with feeling good, but it's immature and irresponsible to treat sex as if it isn't connected to all of those other things, especially love.
 
If you want a prime example of what happens on a large scale when love is removed from the act of sex, all you have to do is examine the so-called black community here in the United States. Our culture has become one that promotes and pedastalizes promiscuity and whoredom, and our family structures have been utterly destroyed because of it. In 1960, something like 22% of black children were raised in single parent families - now OVER 70% of black children are raised in single parents families. That's fuckin crazy. And don't even get me started on the abortion stats.
 
Why is all of that that relevant tho?  Because family is essentially the building block of society itself - so if the family is destroyed, well then so is the broader community. Likewise the individual is also impaired because they're raised in these destroyed families and further effected by these destroyed communities. When it comes to human relations, nothing ever truly happens in a vacuum - and so you can begin to see the far-reaching effects that the decisions of just one individual can have - for better or worse.
 
 
So yeah, I think divorcing "love" from sex is a horrible idea, because I've seen and experienced the catastrophic effects that it's reaped upon the lives of many people. I've seen what it does to people when they make "feeling good" their highest priority - consequences become completely irrelevant, or an afterthought at best. For instance, I have five nieces and nephews who haven't seen their father in over a year simply because their mother decided she wanted to "live her best life" and chase strange dick. And this was an instance where both the children and the mother were properly being cared and provided for - hell, the kids wanted stay with their father. So just like that - BOOM! instant trauma inflicted upon 5 children and perfectly sanctioned by the U.S. Government. Likewise, I know plenty of single mothers who were impregnated by irresponsible men that decided they were worth busting a nut in, but not sticking around and caring for. There was no love present in any of these decisions. Here are some staggeringly tragic stats on the effects of fatherlessness if you're curious as to why this is such a big deal.
 
All of the heartache, the pain, and the misery caused by reckless, impulsive, lust-based sexual decisions could simply be avoided it people knew how to integrate sex into their life in a functional manner that doesn't have these resoundingly negative effects. Sadly, we don't know how to do that. And society is quick to tell you "do whatever makes you happy/feel good", but they don't tell you all the pain and misery that you bring upon yourself and others when you make that your highest priority/value.
 
So anyways, I hope this explains my stance on it.  Obviously, ppl are free to do whatever they want, but I think going about sex like that is a bad idea.

I tried to do some D13 from Leetspeak Monsters inspired make up, didn't turn out how I wanted it to be but I'm kind of happy with the result anyway.

I loved IDEAL too. I had a little mixed feelings after 荊海 BEYOND and was a little hesitant what this single would be like but I got very positively surprised by it in the end. These guys are really one of my favorite bands at the moment.
also, I'll hopefully be getting 荊海 CODA around next week or the week after that ^^ It was supposed to be here this week already buuuut it got a bit lost at one point... All this waiting and waiting is making me go crazy...

I like Mio's vocals and most of nazare's stuff so far, Issei should stop bitching about the music being uploaded to youtube and start making it available for purchase outside the lives.

I loved their album but I haven't been able to click with anything since. This single is just a confusing heap of vocal gymnastics and unnecessary noodling. It's genuinely bad

Welp, I guess I'm going to enter the bidding wars for a copy of the live limited CD on Yahoo Auctions. Wish me luck lol. I wish the money could go to the band instead of the person who bought it profiting off of it but 🙃 What can you do I guess. I'm going to be buying all of their subsequent releases to support the band as best as I can from abroad. Hopefully I can go see them live sometime next year. If no one gets to it before me (given that I actually win a copy) I will probably upload it on here.

VK fans are almost always so narrow minded. You disgust me. When will you guys notice that if there's no VK scene outside of Japan you won't have access to merch, gigs and bands will keep disbanding, getting shitty production and doing low quality stuff and all that stuff y'all whine about all the time ? What's the problem with gaijins doing VK ? Japan didn't invent glam and yet still you're all here thirsting on japanese trannys. Weebs are always like this. You think Japan is the most advanced placed on Earth and everytime people try to actually spread their culture you say this xenophobic shit, like, only Japan can do animation, cosplaying or VK. These are all copies of western stuff. Japan didn't invent shit, so it shouldn't be limited to Japan only. Get over it. It's because of people like you that the scene doesn't grow. This is decent. Nothing mind-blowing, but nothing like the worst thing to ever happen to VK. I don't get all the hate YOHIO and co receive from foreign fans, if anything we should be excited that 'outsiders' are actually attempting to make a name for themselves in an essentially exclusively Japanese music scene.

i think it's not important if their japanese or not ... the most important is, that they are making great music and they look god damn great for a "foreign kei band"

It is possible to get hold of it as mentioned throughout some auction websites and second hand websites. It's actually available on closetchild right now but is extremely over-priced. But if one of you guys wants to snap it up and share it then I'm sure that will be very much appreciated by all. haha. I remember they did release one song from this single on LINE and it wasn't anything above what you'd expect from them so didn't inspire me to pay £50/£60 for a 3 song single. lol.

The reason why I asked this question is exactly to force myself to close the gap between male and female inside of me, to be more like the female vkei fans.

Honestly, I don't 100% understand the need to pick it apart and try to figure out how certain genders are supposed to or tend to like vk. I wish we could just sort of enjoy it and leave it at that but I guess that's not realistic. As a trans person (I bring this up because I used to be a "typical teen female fan" and am now a male fan, so I've been on both sides), it was always a mixed bag of loving the style and wanting to be like/dress like them, being attracted to the pretty members, and loving the music and the scene in general. It was like that from the beginning for me and honestly I would bet that it's mostly mixed of a few or even all of those things for most people. It's true that I used to be more into the members back then, but I think that had more to do with me being a teen than my perceived gender at the time lol. I still find a handful of members good looking but that's not much of a draw for me anymore (I am gay though, and js but I'm getting sick of seeing the claim on here that "gay men aren't attracted to androgynous men" lmao speak for yourself henny). Now I love the music and I guess I am pretty into the collecting aspect of it, but I think I have always been. I've always been into the aggressive, harsher sounding bands (UnsraW used to be one of my favorites back then) so idk if that really has anything to do with it. I'm more into the style than ever too, I started trying out my own vk looks within the last year. That's my personal experience anyway. And as others said, of course there is a difference between western fans' experiences/tendencies and those of Japanese fans. Also, I think the culture is changing over in Japan surrounding male fans. I think they're becoming more common and band members in newer bands are becoming a bit more open minded about it. Especially backed up with what Paraph was saying. The whole vk culture has changed so much even from when I first got into it and I definitely think that's part of it that has changed for sure, even if just by a bit.

As a male I only listen to very heavy VK bands (Bands with growls, breakdowns, etc) and have no interest in how they look like.

I don't really think a lot of bands have a problem with male fans at all. At the virge tour final recently there were quite a few males and they shouted and growled and were accepted like everyone else. The guys were also buying and trading cheki. NAZUKI of La'veil MizeriA took a cheki with me as a present (well jaki took it of us), just offered randomly after I bought some merch. My experience was pretty positive that way. Kaina of Marvelous Cruelty even came out to meet me after their show at Shinsaibashi FANJ. 

i did an in-store event with umbrella as well, and even though i was the only male the guys were really happy and asked where i was from and that was overall positive also.

Just remembered: During a La'veil MizeriA show a japanese male fan did a heart sign with their hands at miria like the girls did and he just ruffled his hair and smiled. it seemed everyone could enjoy it fully.

 

It's my understanding that it was given to people for a specific show, so there's no way to get it besides the auctions. On a side note, someone is selling it, 荊海 and 荊海-幸福盤- for like $130 lol
