Totally seconding your views there jig - neat review Btw, I apologize beforehand for misinterpreting band's words about composer roles - they had a talk session @ Tokyo Kinema Club @7/2 where they revealed a few tidbits about behind-the-scenes stuff in Vitium and whatnot (thx to the blog owner for visiting that one, heh): Source: http://ameblo.jp/nmnl-tgdeg/entry-11987120044.html ps. I tried to interpret the trivia parts mentioned in my link, so feel free to correct me... Leather Fields: Yuchi - Yuchi wanted to define his "groove" here (?) Dunes: UTA - Mika thought the drumline here was very "touching" (lol?) Dot: SE - Takumi played this briefly in some Ameagari no Yuushi tour gigs... Foster Mother: Yuchi - Yuchi wrote this right away after their Kyoto live (?) and let Takumi do his twists afterwards Ameagari no Yuushi: Takumi - Demo was very folky, a la Elisabeth Addict pt. 2 (this detail was taken from their barks interview btw), and they came up with the final arrangement (a.k.a Vitium ver.) before their Germany live Maniera: Yuchi - Yuchi also played guitar in this one (?) Hakuro: SE/Takumi - this is apparently a " short (re)mix" of sukekiyo's EU/JP tour impro sessions Celeste: Kyo + Takumi - the result of Kyo being inspired by some movie (which they don't mention for some reason) and Takumi + Kyo's wild brainstorming Focus: Uta (Takumi credited himself for arranging on barks.jp though) - Mika uses djembe here + the whole band was very thrilled about having Toshi to collab in Ameagari and apparently Kyo is fanboying the actor in Focus collab (and he invited Mikami personally to do cameo in Vitium, hmmm) I am rather surprised how Yuchi-heavy this record really is, haha.

Just a reminder: Kiyoharu already thanked for "new five years" after that show (note: 黒夢 2.9 final 名古屋), so yeah - no more '09 disbandment trolling, I suppose?
-
Kyo's casual fashion sense is even more hideous lol

Sharing this for the lulz (subs!) I know that he basically "stole" OG maco's beat and gimmicks but ayyy lmao KOHH is Chief Keef-ier than ever now, just wow...

http://blog.livedoor.jp/omorimorimori/archives/52190167.htmlhere's Seiko being quite hysteric about the disbandment (so no gimmicks here, folks!) Apparently her bandmates had a real hard time in getting used to "major status" (since Seiko herself is a major label artist)... Update: here's the overall interpretation of the post from EMF So she tried to point out that her backup band was holding her back instead of just "going with the flow", sad...

Making this brief and simple: I actually hoped that these boys would go down the "retro" route (think of Baka ne's Akina Nakamori-ish chorus or even Tsuioku) but eh, too many out-of-place fillers for a decent, consistent record :/ Hope they will revise this someday and realize that e.g. just whacking cheap Yamaha synth tracks on inaudible guitar lines (Liar, Illusion) or infusing earlier songs (Dark Night) won't help you express "experimentation" - another case of "EROS syndrome" (long-time MHsters might get the gist) is haunting them again? MRC had plainer, more delightful ideas (sans failed club kei banger "Psychedelic Jelly" and whatnot) and demonstrated more consistent nature of Lycaon's music. Highlights: Shadow, Baka ne, Tsuioku, Gypsy "Midlights" (lol): Kimi no Kowasu.., Rouge (MRC leftovers?) Lowlights: Liar, Illusion, Dark Night, Anemone No rating.

I thought Vitium was a successful showcase of sukekiyo guys being able to produce something that doesn't sound necessarily like a *mix* of ex-band influences (except for tracks like "Dunes" or "Focus") Speaking of my favorites, they would be "Leather Fields", "Celeste" (I recognized one of Takumi's piano impro parts from sukekiyo's Helsinki gig in here, yay) and ofc "Focus" (beautiful track).

This list inspired me to give SEKAI NO OWARI a chance in the end, lol (I really need to get over their "Japanese Owl City" stigma) - thanks beni for a convincing sample Your lists look cool in general but...Cat, where did you get that Yoshie song from? The album didn't even leak (yet)

I have a few cool bands/artists to share as well: Bonjour Suzuki Intriguing amalgamation of Chara, cokiyu and daoko's styles - not to mention a tinge of inspiration from Suzuki's favorite French artists (you can check 'em out @ her twitter) Sucrette ...and early Capsule (Phony Phonic, Cutie Cinema Replay - era) had a baby, woo. Cymbals Read the Sucrette part + imagine if a "pop rock" band arranged it and finally Tokyo Karankoron, but I think Cat shared my thoughts (surprisingly enough lol) in that SOTY thread...

http://sp.universal-music.co.jp/ringo/expo14/ RINGO EXPO '14 samples Not sure about mixing in the first preview but the rest sounds okay I guess?
-
Because lyric PVs are usually considered as means of promoting releases through video streaming sites (a.k.a "teasers") instead of being "legit PVs" (that can be normally marketed or streamed through TV, for instance) Not to mention that the collage of stock footage and whatnot in "Kuukoku" makes it totally inferior to "better" PVs in AS, e.g. Unraveling (if we believe in a knot stans' words about it being "von Trier-y")
-
Just went on with their "Trilogy"-collection (idk if it's even legit but lol) after digesting some EP III and holy shit, totes brilliant stuff... (as bear pointed it out already)

Opinions on Mell...I mean, Shijou no Jinsei? (pre-order ver. is out on jps, JIC) It was kind of 'cute' to see her trying to go all ZCS on us, lol (spoiler alert: no jazz) Let's "enliven" this thread by moving on with OP's question: what are your (all-time) favorites from Shiina/TJ? If I have to name a "couple": solo: Gamble (HF version) Tsumi to Batsu Yokushitsu (all versions <3) Stem (all versions, especially Electric Mole ver. <3) Souretsu Tsugou no ii Karada Koko de Kiss Shite Tsumiki Asobi Sid to Hakuchumu (single version) Karisome Otome (all versions <3) Meisai (KZK ver.) etc. Tokyo Jihen: Sounan (ofc) Omatsuri Sawagi Yume no Ato (Kyoiku ver.) Himitsu Shuraba (single ver.) Blackout OSCA + Kuroneko-do (that combo) Killer Tune Ikiru + Kimaru Kinjirareta Asobi etc.
