  1. Sayuri track as an opener? SWEET.
  2. I don't think this needs a separate thread: Shena will also release a new live DVD titled (生)林檎博'14 -年女の逆襲- (a.k.a. Ringo Expo '14), and the release date is scheduled to be 18/3 Setlist from that show / possible DVD setlist: 01. BETWEEN TODAY AND TOMORROW 14. 決定的三分間 15. 能動的三分間 16. ちちんぷいぷい 17. 密偵物語 18. 殺し屋危機一髪 19. 望遠鏡の外の景色 20. 最果てが見たい 21. NIPPON 22. 自由へ道連れ 23. 流行 24. 主演の女 25. 静かなる逆襲 26. マヤカシ優男 27. ありきたりな女 Apparently a couple of TJ members made some major cameos in her show, e.g. Uki (with some vocal duties too!) :V

*orchestra of cheesy tumbleweed and cricket sounds intensifies* So what kind of hip hop albums are you guys anticipating in this year? I am in the process of digesting latest Joey Badass and Lupe Fiasco, but sheesh, talk about being totally stoked for upcoming goodie-patooties: Western: BADBADNOTGOOD & Ghostface Killah - Sour Soul Someone (Juka?) already pointed out that Ghostface has been involved in similar collabs before, but I have my fingers crossed already for some real chemistry between these folks - even the sample (posted earlier) says a lot! Death Grips - Jenny Death Zach Hill *finally* gave a clue about the staple date for the most "memetastic" (don't visit reddit or 4chan, don't even dare) release of 2k15 - 31/3! Those who are interested, keep that in mind...unless DG's going to troll us again :V Japanese: daoko - dimension Daoko slayed earlier and will slay in February too - I can foresee the hottest AOTY right there! SALU & the dreambandgunjo - THE CALM SALU is gonna get it in with his crew once more - will it make up for the major "been there, heard that" issue of his last release? I am more than intrigued...

    She ain't Jonno tho
  5. So, we don't have any sample threads around here so I decided to come up with one - no hip hop samples though, for obvious reasons... Lycaon - Dorei to Kubiwa (intro) -> Silent Hill 2 OST - Black Fairy (looping sample) Gazette - SxDxR (intro) -> Sid Vicious - C'mon Everybody (intro) Gazette - Anti Pop (intro) -> snippets of Sex Pistols' interview with Bill Grundy ("Say something outrageous" , "You dirty fucker") Baiser - Mechanixx (intro) -> one of Hannibal Lecter's speeches in "The Silence of the lambs" Candy Spooky theater -> Merry-go-round (sample below) -> Dracula (w/ Bela Lugosi) (sample below) Girugamesh - Mouja no Koushin (sample below) -> Lenin's civil war speech Dir en grey - MASK (intro) -> Charles Lindbergh's Des Moines speech Feel free to expand the list...
  6. Charisma.com will have their new song "Tongari Young" out on the Itunes Store @11/2/2015 (pre-release listening session @4/2/2015). The song will serve as the theme song for a movie adaption of Tomohiro Koizumi's manga "Shinda Me o Shita Shonen". Charisma.com cited that they have been offered to produce the song due to its lyrical content being "linked to the world of movie's main character" New song snippet starts @0:45-ish No further details announced Source: ro69, natalie.mu
  7. Seiko Oomori and her "backup unit"* (band, in this case) "The Pink Tokarev" will have a self-cover album called "Tokarev" out @4/3/2015 Promo pic: Tracklist: 01 hayatochiri 02 ワンダフルワールドエンド 03 少女3号 04 みかんのうた 05 ミッドナイト清純異性交遊 06 料理長の音楽は豚肉の焼ける音だった 07 新宿 08 Over the party 09 苺フラッペは溶けていた 10 最終公演 11 歌謡曲 12 これで終わりにしたい Source: Seiko's OHP *think of Ringo Sheena's "Tokyo Jihen" or Jun Togawa's "Yapoos" for instance + Seiko hinted something about revealing the idea behind their "sudden visual (kei) looks" in the near future (Pretsy's note: visual kei parodies? Oh my...)
  8. Exactly what I thought! Speaking of "old school", I spotted some "dissonant" (some might even say "hypnotic") arpeggios and trickeries that are more akin to Grieva's "old school" playing in those previews (call 'em "Ains-isms" if you will). So it's not really far-fetched... Also: ever since when "Korn riffs" (oh yes, they *totally* created drop riffs, right?) became a dreadful thing in vk music? I thought old, grumpy and nostalgizing folks liked music in the vein of Mucc's Zekuu or even demi-legendary Kuchiki no Tou? Just wondering :>

    YESSSSSSS

I actually never heard Kyo in ambient arrangements like this, so colour me very interested (as I pointed it out earlier, very reminiscent of that RES song I linked)
  11. Wasn't this tanuki rumour like...debunked ages ago? Mako (or the hell, 'Maco') and his ex-bandmates never revealed any details about his post-Deadman ventures so I am wondering about the rumour source atm (not that I cared much about it earlier)
  12. *Does the Kilroy and looks around* Alright, I am not the one to talk about metal releases I look forward to and hodgepodge like that on a regular basis, but I am highly intrigued about upcoming Ghost Bath (Chinese DSBM band) album, "Moonlover" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mg530raHyuo (don't mind the random "uplifting" solo in the beginning...) Earlier repertoire (as a case in point, their 2014 album ) was not that astonishing from a DSBM band avec a tinge of "atmospheric", but band's latest promo sorta screams out "Alcest on steroids" (if I were to describe it with my unfortunate knowledge of anything metal-related) - "hyena cries" are still there though, lol.

MERRY always had a thing for "guitar noodling" though, so I highly doubt that 9mm comparisons stem from such petty detail. Edit: Pardon for my previous rant, I forgot to check out on acoustic versions...
  14. Perhaps they will add up a few other non-single PVs too + Free-Will didn't inform about *exclusive* non-SMEJ publishing yet (read: 'Average Psycho' issues back in '05) , so I am siding with this being another probable, "Sony-safe" release (e.g. Fury, Blasphemy)
  15. Pretsy

Who's the genius behind this idea? I thought Leda would be already satisfied after his BABYMETAL session cashing...
  16. Pretsy

I haven't listened to these guys for a while... 1) Shadows (many great tunes) 2) I Believe in Me (read: Bear's comment) 3) Inferiority Complex (decent sequel I guess?) 4) The Avoided Sun (as far as I remember, it was okay) 5) Greedy Dead Souls (no) 6) Gallows (no, no, no, noooooooope) The last two were worth trash binning :>
  17. Pretsy

    - Ling Tosite Sigure - Rentrer en Soi (most of the community is quite fond of RES, right?) - Downy and when it comes to "don'ts": - DEFINITELY NOT DEG (even the pettiest things might trigger outrages in our stanbase, just saying) In overall, I consider the most liked/popular bands to be the best banner choices (as Cat mentioned it already) - that would ofc mean exclusion of certain banners (Jupiter) but I am not the one to dabble with admin picks! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  18. Pretsy

The vibe's kinda reminiscent of Rentrer en soi's (but of course, Takumi's defo the mastermind behind this!) - and as Phoe pointed it out, vocal melody left a bit to be desired. Lol @ Wes Borland
  19. http://video.fc2.com/content/20150108PYfV2LHf/ 47:50 - 49:00 RINGO EXPO '14 preview + preview for "Shijou no Jinsei" (as a drama teaser) Single cover (source: kronekodow) (ew) Sounds like an okay leftover from SUNNY I guess?
  20. Ringo Shena will release a new single titled "至上の人生" (Shijou no Jinsei), which will act as a theme song for a drama called "Tsuma" (http://www.ntv.co.jp/tsuma/ (?)). The release date was set to be February 25th. No other details are known yet.

SHISHAMO was mentioned but no Silent Siren at all? RATS. (jk) AJICO is also worth mentioning - UA in her prime, perhaps? Clammbon has quite lovely female vocalist too No "Women of J-rock" without demi-legendary ヤプーズ (Yapoos) though! Jun Togawa always nailed it Sheesh, I even forgot Tokyo Jihen too! Queen Ringo needs no further explanations...
  22. Pretsy

Seems like "Saga-friendly era" (the way I call their Vandalize/Gemini/"9"-era - for reasons) is not everyone's cup of tea? Awww. I am still waiting them to top Gemini (show your aces already, Saga!) :V
  23. Pretsy

Sounding awesome so far! Interesting tracklist build btw.
  24. Late 2001 - one of my cousins brought Ayu's Dearest, Dir's Jessica and some VHS tapes off Dir's performances, PVs and whatnot as souvenirs from Japan + he taught me how to "hunt" for J-stuff (albeit me being a kiddio back then)
  25. Pretsy

Nice picks you have there guys! HEAVY update on my list btw (since I re-edited with your additions + Amazon/HMV discoveries)
