I'm glad you liked it! One of the best animated series ever made, or scrap that; one of the best series in general ever made. It's incredible.

Seeing@Lestat's signature reminded me to finally sit down and watch all 110 episodes of Legends of Galactic Heroes. It took me about a month... but worth it

Reiko reacted to Jigsaw9 in "Inspiration" - where does music find it?
This is not a musical comparison, just something interesting I've stumbled upon. I just noticed how DIR EN GREY used part of the same WW2 photograph by Dmitri Baltermants for their THE MARROW OF A BONE album (2007) as British crust punk band Amebix for their No Sanctuary EP (1984). Granted, it's not unusual that different bands use the same 'well-known' work of art for their albums, I just haven't seen a Japanese/non-Japanese connection like this before (or not that I can remember right now).

Reiko reacted to chemicalpictures in Do you have any VK/Jmusic inspired tattoo?
Hey y'all!
I've been wondering if any of you have one or have the desire of doing a tattoo inspired by a band or song. Few months ago I did my first one, inspired by FAKE?'s THE LOST GENERATION album cover:
I gave the tattoo artist the liberty to modify the tattoo to better fit his style art and the position I wanted on my arm, aswell as doing an exclusive art. Overall I'm really pleased with the result, it looks really unique.
I still want to do another two, based on xTRiPx and bis more minimalistic logos:
I also wanna give them a more unique feel, but this time being way more faithful to the original art. Planning on doing each one in one calf.
What about you guys, any tattoos or ideas for the future?

My first favourite band was Dir en grey some time back around 2000. I remember Gauze wasn't that old yet. I can't at all remember how I found them, but I remained a huge fan from Gauze all the way til Withering to Death. Sometime after that I just lost interest in the changes in their music. I was so suuuuuper into Dir for so many years, had a fansite, super involved in the Dir en grey LJ community and Batsu threads, wrote cringy fanfics I wish I could forget, even ordered an expensive as fuck aknot only dvd set once. A 5 or 6 year run isn't too bad, but I was still really sad when I stopped liking their new music coming out. I still listen to them from time to time, but nothing past WtD still.

I had pictures I printed out from their Tekesuta Kousen photo shoot and I did construction paper to make a background that fit each member's video color. Lol it was actually pretty cute.

I'd say my first favourite band was probably DIR EN GREY or An Cafe circa 2006, but only because I was completely unaware bands similar to them existed. I was flipping through channels one day and managed to catch The Final and Escapism PVs on IMF (International Music Feed) and instantly fell in love. I obsessed over DEG and An Cafe for a good half year, probably, until I discovered that there was a slew of bands out there and it wasn't confined to just those two, as vastly different as they are.
So after a little bit of searching and discovering with the limited resources I had, I'd say that RENTRER EN SOI was my real "first favourite", followed very closely by UnsraW.

Definitely An Cafe. I did a school report in my music class on them in either 7th or 8th grade. Everyone was horrified from the pictures and that they were all guys and I played one of their songs and everyone was so confused. I got an A though. lol

Damn, every song sounds absolutely amazing.
And as much shit as I gave Korey, his shoes will be somewhat tough to fill...oh what am I saying, they just need some Cubase/Pro Tools drum-programming lessons and they are set.

I have seen X Japan three times now and every time X Japan is super late to start, there are more theatrics than music, and most X fans (Japanese or foreign) are annoying as fvck. A lot of them are cosplaying obangya (and when I say obangya, most of them are 40-60 y.o. women/grannies) and their tall hair blocks out pretty much any chance you might of had of seeing the stage. It's not as bad at arenas where the seats are tiered, but at the Visual Japan Summit last year everyone was just in a standing zone and I had to watch most of their performance through a screen.
Also, their fans don't seem to understand the "switch out" system for taiban lives. X Japan were playing last, but some of their hime-sama fans had already decided to take up the front row at 10:00 a.m. when PLC came on.
At a previous show I saw, Yoshiki decided to have some random/awful h.naoto fashion show in the middle of the concert, and even liking h.naoto at the time, it was still like wtf I didn't pay 12,000-15,000 yen for an hour-long intermission when X Japan only had like 8 songs to play in total. Then at every live they play, you have to listen to X Japan and their fans yelling "WE ARE X!" for like 30+ minutes.
The only other person that I've seen put more emphasis on bad theatrics than performing is Gackt, but at least he played more than 8 songs and had better tour goods.
TL;DR, they have good songs and I appreciate them paving the way for visual kei, but there is certainly a cult-like hype around them that isn't entirely deserved.

Part 2.
And on an OST video for Hyperdimension Neptunia:
Just sort of weird how much people will big up the stuff they listen to, as if it's the sole source of a type of music, or that it's the best and the only best.

this is really just a drag @ myself but back in middleschool when i was first getting into vk, i accidentally followed a roleplay-blog of Nightmare's Hitsugi, somehow thinking it was the real thing.
I guess i was just totally ready to accept hitsu spoke fluent english and also had the exact personality of a teenage girl?
Also there was a good chunk of time when i was convinced that line in L'Arc~en~Ciel's Taste of Love was "You treat me like a DUCK"
