I agree, I've never exactly favored when bands experiemented with jazzy things ^^; no offense to the actual genre ofc

I totally forgot to mention that B-side, but yes, I love it too! I'm don't have a favorite song of them...yet.

i agree that "mousou spice" is a little iffy for me too. i guess i'm just more fussy with jazzy songs in general, and like, it's kinda hard to make a jazzy song in the vk style that's distinctive and memorable (so far only anfiel does it for me, but that's just me haha).

have you heard the B-side of mousou spice though? that's actually my favorite glamhaze song *_*

This is exactly how I feel. Except I see more often then not bands that try to grip onto relevance by releasing new stuff at lightning speed, and they usually aren't anything special. Usually causes me to not look forward to their next release because I just see it as a ploy to get more money in shorter amounts of time and pandering to the fans that don't give af about their music, just their looks...and that ain't me.

We need more people on the younger side of the spectrum - all the people like me who got into visual kei in their tween weeaboo phases are in their 20s now ( TДT)

Me too! I'm majoring in Japanese (next year) and I also grew a love for foreign studies and cultures thanks to vkei! <3

I think what I like the most about visual kei is how tight-knit the fandom is. I see that I am on the much younger side of the spectrum in terms of age, but I have met the most interesting and kind people through this music. Vkei made me realize I loved rock music and gave me something to look forward to and fangirl over.

And more the music...most of it is created by the musicians, even if originality may be at stake at times. I think it is a lot more genuine then say, kpop. And that really appeals to me. Sure these bandomen are poor and money hungry, and I love to support them, but you hear things you'll never hear in other genres in scenes (which is pretty no-duh, but hey, that's awesome to me).

Multiple versions of CDs with different songs on them irritate me so much. Like, make as many versions as you want with different bonus DVDs or whatever else, I don't really care, but there should always be one version of the album available to buy that has ALL the songs from the release on it. That's all I ask lol. Also, kinda the same thing but putting out Itunes versions of the releases that don't have all the songs on them. Like I'll probably buy something right off the bat from Itunes if it's got all the songs, but if it's missing a song or two I'll likely just pass it up and wait until I have the money for a physical copy with every song. And since currently I'm pretty much just buying digital releases to save some money, that's probably going to be long wait >.<

I'm not sure how to explain it but I feel like VK has a problem with  choruses. So often I hear songs that sound amazing only to be ruined by a boring chorus that doesn't seem to organically connect with the rest of the song, sounds uncharacteristically happy like an explosion of kittens and rainbows in musical form or is just bland and lacks the kind of punch you would expect from a chorus. Then when it's time to go back to the verses, the transition is all awkward. To me, the verses and bridge are usually more memorable than the choruses and I only seem to have this experience with VK. When I listen to a new song and it's shaping up to be a good one, I always have this concern that they'll go for this type of chorus and ruin everything and more often than not I am right. A good example of this would be SCAPEGOAT - 幼女A~Hide and Seek~ . Their Nemurenai something song is the same. It's frustrating to have everything in a song work except the chorus.

To add to what was discussed above: Kpop was the new VK insofar as the weeaboodom was concerned. The scene that was here from early 2000's till the end of the decade either disintegrated into kpop or musical apathy. Kpop certainly has a wider reach in demographic, but it swallowed the visual kei culture in Europe and spat it out. There were more reasons to its demise such as the general decline of physical sales, bad promotion & mismanagement, the death and emergence of a new generation of vk bands in Japan and the general zeitgeist not being all that in favor of "alternative rock", with the kpop vulture certainly swooping in at the opportune moment to pick the carcass. It almost seems as if by fate that kpop really hit its stride right around the time when the vk bands of the early 2000's responsible for the western market breakthrough started disbanding and/or sucking en masse.

I still don't think VK was ever in the same realm of popularity as Kpop, though. Sure, VK was more popular 10 years ago and a lot of fans moved onto the "next big thing" (that still happens a lot btw). But Kpop got a HUGE push from going viral with "Gangnam Style". Literally, millions of people were introduced to Kpop through that song, then 2NE1 was on American programs like "The Bachelor" and commercials. That's the first thing I thought of when @itsukoii mentioned that. That they didn't want this video to make VK some viral new thing that suddenly gets passed around at every work station and you begin to hear it over the music stations in convenience stores.

I dont think you have to worry about that. Since its rock genre mostly the circles for it will always be smaller than pop/dance music which kpop appeals to.
