  1. From what I've read/been told (the people in the photo and I share a mutual friend who was with them for the show) Kyo is turned around because he was laughing at them.

That's exactly the message I perceived when I first glanced at this photo. From the comment videos/backstage footage of shows that I've seen, that's how Jrockers deal with humor, by putting on a pokerface (or in Kyo's case, turning around).

Hell, I'd look away too. Kyo is probably embarrased to be seen on camera with these losers haha.

  2. I have to agree, this is their best album to date. After the first listen, it just lingers in your mind, as you secretly hum your favorite tracks all day in a dreamy-like state everywhere you go.

Not to mention it's the perfect time of the year to release the album too, as their sound gives off an invigorating or brisk feel, suiting the fall season perfectly.

In terms of their performance, its flawless IMO. Probably some of the best pacing, tone, and composition I've heard from them (or any band right now). The overall sound is top tier, with not one instrument overshadowing the other. Hazuki's vocals are so damn clean, that I can't even right now.

If you wanna hear what an ACTUAL improvement is, listen to this album. In fact, I am so impressed, that I am purchasing this CD.

    My personal favorite tracks are:

    2. D.A.R.K.

    3. Antares

    4. Evoke

    7. Eternity

    8. Fallen

    11. Cosmos

    12. Melancholic

    13. Moon

    (Yes, quite a few haha)

Since the album's release, it's the only thing I can listen to at the moment. The album gets better with every listen.

This is the EXACT potential that I knew that they were capable of. Let's say Lynch has managed to pull a few of my heartstrings (what's left of them anyways).

    :4.5:

  3.

    the piqnic - "ZyouK"
I wish I liked this track - by all means I should with it's darker post rock/noise vibe. Ultimately I just feels like the song is just a little too flat and uninspired with a half-assed attempt at vocals (making me thing that this track would do better without them). The Novembers comparison is apt, but in the way that this makes me think of some of The Novembers weakest material.

You're telling me someone was singing in this?!?!? Haha. No but seriously, point well made.

  4. VK does do the laundry for me and occasionally my hair.

Seriously though, is it this time of year again to have another "Is VK dying" discussion?

Okay, seriously serious now, it's just music like any other, there's good and there's bad, it's always been like that and I'm pretty confident it will always be like that. I don't listen to genres, I listen to bands.

And as someone who is most likely the oldest person in this thread let me tell you: you never get too old for any music. XD

Well it's more of a "Are you having a VK mid-life crisis?" type of therapy/talk haha. I think a few members here needed this.

Surprisingly, I didn't stumble across any previous thread related to this when I searched. Maybe I just suck at using the site hmmm.

  5. This is kind of a hard topic for me to say, either way. Lately I've been feeling some disconnect from the scene, but more on the side of the fans than the actual music. For quite some time, I felt like I was pretty "in-tune" with a majority of the fans and that we'd agree on many opinions about bands. Lately though, it seems like so many bands that everyone would have been "meh" about, they're gushing over instead and it just leaves me wondering why. Obviously people will like what they like, of course, and there's nothing wrong with that.

I'm just crossing my fingers and hoping that I'm just in some sort of lull at the moment, since I really do appreciate the scene... I mean I've been part of it for over 12 years now, which is definitely long enough to say that it's had a HUGE lasting impact on my life(for better or worse lol). I think in general for me, I just get "exhausted" with music sometimes. Having to rip 300+ CDs a month for my store can get so exhausting sometimes that I find myself just sitting in silence more often than not. I think that sometimes people need to step away from the scene for a little while and kinda... decompress and go back into it with a fresh point of view, since being surrounded constantly by so many mediocre bands can sort of overwhelm you and mask all of the great bands that still exist.

I was waiting for your input Bio (based this topic off of your, and a few other's statuses), and agree that it's a hard question to answer. That's why my questions are so vague.

As for what the fuss is all about with meh bands, I couldn't tell you. We're in the same boat haha. Could be the age, could be our experiences over the decade (for better or worse), but I'd take it as good sign that you are listening to the music with more than just the intention of saying yay or nay.

I sometimes have my earbuds put on for the sole purpose of listening to the silence. There's a beauty in it, but you have to reach that point and come back to know what I mean.

  6. A lot of you have made some interesting points. It seems the scene has become limited in variety (no new blood, ex-members joining other ex-members) yet the # of bands has grown quite a bit. So I can see the yawn in some of you who say the music has gone stale.

Looks like too much quantity, not enough quality. The same can be said about any music genre though.

Even the musicians seem to be feeling the same way. I've seen too many Disbandments/Hiatuses from some of the greats these last couple years due to feeling like they've done it all/no more to achieve.

Take for instance DEATHGAZE or 12012. Great group of individuals, yet out of the blue, come out and say they feel they've done all they can as a group and feel its time to move on/rethink their music careers.

  7. Sounds like a lot of you are having this displeasure with VK these last few days.

You think the VK fad is starting to die out?

You feeling like you're too old for this now?

You think shitty bands have been forming recently?

    Tell me your problems bros.

  8. With the influence of the Polls of the Week in mind, I figured I'd talk about stuff this morning.

How much of an impact has listening to an OP/ED to an anime you've watched made to you?

Do you feel that the OP/ED is somewhat important in conveying a theme to the anime you are watching?

How about the bands that have their music promoted in the anime? Do you feel it's a great way for them to get noticed?

I stumbled across People in the Box - 机上の空軍 while listening to a playlist on one of my online streaming sites today, and upon searching, found/remembered that they had an ED for Tokyo Ghoul as well.

I had a flashback to my noobie days when the Adult Swim Network (USA) first aired in 2001 and I had watched FLCL/Cowboy Bebop/Inuyasha for the first time, and remembered that I used to find music this way.

The music played in the opening/during/ending of FLCL blew my mind away. I became obsessed with Japanese music for the first time, even though I was exposed to it earlier (Sailor Moon era), but it never made an impact like FLCL did. From then on, my music interests grew and became vast that it's become a definition of who I am now.

I always wonder what would have happened had I not watched the Anime aired back then, and had not stumbled upon the music in it. Would I eventually have listened to japanese music and have a liking to it as I do now?

Tell me Monochrome, did you have the same experiences as I did? If so, what Anime, and what OP/ED did you listen to that enamored you to keep listening up to this point?

  9. Is there no thread for them yet? Shame on you Monochrome. haha.

It's always nice to see an all female band to stir the pot.

Personally, I think think their vocalist Oni is gorgeous. Makes sense since she's also a fashion model.

The girls aren't afraid to admit they are huge fangirls haha. They're very cool.

INFINITY was a great album and I'd recommend it to anyone.

Anyways, here's their latest PV. Looks like they've adopted a heavier sound.

Here are a few other PV's of theirs for your hearing pleasure.
