  1. I'll meet them here in Chicago on the 16th Next month. If they don't play Mushi I'm going to be pissed.

Toshiya is in a new video posted on the official Dir en grey Facebook teasing that they may be playing older tracks on their NA tour.

    Link would be cooler.

Any idea what kind of tracklist they may play in this tour? I missed their las NA tour a few years back so I don't know what they already played.

  2. Ok I'm back.

Luckily I had the entire day to sample the entire album at work. So I was able to save a few days.

Having played BD all day at work, and a 2 hour drive home in my car ($800+ in speaker components) I have my review.

    1. MALFORMED BOX - I haven't heard a great introduction like that in years. There was no way in hell you could skip an intro like that, especially since it blended so well alongside the following track. Pumped me up. 10/10

    2. INSIDE BEAST - First off I want to give mad respect to Kai. Those drums stood out so well the entire track. The entire time I listened to it, it was like whoa. PLAY THIS IN THE CAR FOR GODS SAKE! I felt the same energy from this as I did with RIDE WITH THE ROCKERS. You can tell the GazettE had fun with this one. 9/10

    3. UNTIL IT BURNS OUT - One of their harder tracks. Nothing really stood out too much to me other than how the tempo was slow and then picked up some pace (sorta like some tracks on DIM) 7/10

    4. DEVOURING ONE ANOTHER - I'm not going to lie, this was very bland to the ears. By bland, I mean very modernized and mainstream hard rock. The female vocals playing intermittently kinda annoyed me. 4/10

    5. FADELESS - I'm going to be blunt. You're lying to yourself if you say this track is not good. I loved the single when it came out, even though reviews went the other way. Uruha's guitar makes this track worth listening. 8/10

    6. REDO - OMFG REDO! My favorite track on the entire album. The tempo is perfect! Ruki's vocals are on par with everything. I even sang alongside without even knowing. What I cannot believe is how reviews put this down for not being faster like GANGES NI AKAI BARA. If it were, those same people would say it sucks because it sounded too much like GANGES NI AKAI BARA  10/10

    7. LAST HEAVEN - I can see why people praise this track. I got the same feel as I did with HANA KOTOBA, which I love. I enjoyed the acoustic feel and how his voice level matched as well. I haven't translated it yet, but it gives me a sense of sadness and loneliness. 8/10

    8. LOSS - For the first time, the female voice matched the track well. This is the kinda track I looked forward to and expected out of them. The pace of the song going from slow to fast and then slow and back to fast was incredible. I honestly thought I found a lost track from DIM lol. 10/10

    9. THE STUPID TINY INSECT - WTF did i listen to? It was a waste of a track. That's all I gotta say. This should've been on DIVISION. 2/10

    10. IN BLOSSOM - I agree with RpgRiser. Sounded like OGRE. Good track but nothing to note. 6/10

Tracks 11 and 12 sounded like something Girugamesh and SCREW would make if they collaborated a couple tracks together lol. 6/10

    13. TO DAZZLING DARKNESS - Sounded like it should've been more towards the beginning. Ruki's voice hits all kinds of highs and lows. Felt very ominous. Sounds cool in the car. 8/10

    14. CODA - Fucking CODA. Sums up the entire album in less than 3 minutes. A rather fitting track to end it. Ruki's whispers always get me, and those wails. *shivers* 10/10

I just couldn't stand by and have people who didn't even allow at least a couple days worth of listening weigh in on their decision. Pitiful.

  3. I find it funny that I can see everyone's music preference just by your top 10's Lol

    My top 10 (For now...)

    Nakigahara

    Nausea & Shudder

    Taion

    Quiet

    Baretta

    July 8

    Hana Kotoba

    Miseinen

    Chijo

    Last Bouquet

Fuck did this take a while. Kept getting top 11 for an hour lol.

Kare Uta I took out sadly but it deserves recognition.

  4. Took me a while to post a review for this since I took most of your reviews in consideration. I had to get a feel for the music and listen to the lyrics before I could judge too.

Fadeless - 8/10 It was odd enough the song felt almost nothing at all like being "trapped in my nature/desire for empty pleasure" (what I could translate anyway), but yeah the female vocalists were bad. Ruki's voice impresses yet again. I am so glad they got rid of the Autotune crap.

Quiet - 9/10 Listening to this track reminded me of "Voiceless Fear" since the feel I got from this was similar. The Lyrics to this song are sung so well alongside Ruki's vocals it's impressive. You literally FEEL the music. Yet it sounds too close to Kago No Sanagi.

Forbidden Beaver - 6/10 It does sound exactly like VAMPS - Love Addict, yet the GazettE seem more extreme with their Lyrics. Ruki sounds like Byou from SCREW in certain parts.

I think a lot of people in this thread judged the single for what it initially sounded like without as much as "feeling" ruki's emotion brought fourth in the lyrics.

  5. The single itself was all over the place.

Although I agree with the first 2 tracks, I thought "killed in summer" wasn't too bad.

Dizzy - 3/10  The track was all over the place. Didn't feel it, as I had to actually listen to it with concentration.

I'm High Roller - 2/10  Seemed like a waste of a track. Kinda like a "just fuck it we"ll use it" track.

Killed in Summer - 7/10  It has a nice pace in beat. Could actually listen to the entire thing and not skip it entirely.

        ^^^^^

Did anyone else hear that shitty fadeout on this track??

  6. Now, just for the record, I am not accusing them of plagiarism.

I know it's hard to come up with or even enter a new genre of music without being accused of ripping off some other bands' style or melody.

I love the song BTW. It's just that the melody the plays along after the chorus has been eating away at me all night. So I haven't rested much.

I know I have listened to it before, or else why even bring it up? I can't (for the 10+ years of listening to Japanese music) pinpoint the exact band this melody came from.

    I feel like a newbie....

  7. 7/10

It was nice to listen to the first time. Although if given the chance, I wouldn't listen to the entire album again.

2 or 3 good songs at best.

"fright" and "heaven" were probably the ones I enjoyed the most.

  8. How can you guys listen to this??? lol

I have never had any interest in MIYAVI and his music. Feels like he's all hype.

Gave the album a try because I thought ''maybe this one won't suck.''

    I was wrong.

  9. The only words I can use to describe my music is "just right." It's just that type of sense you get that make you feel at home.

When I began to listen to Jrock specifically, I felt as if it was a part of me that had been missing for a long time. I even remember the first CD I received from this older girl I liked, as she taught me the basics. The tracks that played just shot at me with a "whoa" feeling. I played that CD for hours on end, week after week, not knowing or even caring who or what genre they were playing. It was just that deep.

It's not the type of music that gets stuck in your head due to it being catchy, but more of a type of music that made me understand a little more as I played it back. From just one track, I could feel the theme and the emotion that they were trying to convey regardless of the fact that I had no idea what they were saying.

Take for Example the GazettE - July 8

I listened to that track for years, remembering every note, every word, and every emotion that I felt, learning something new every time I listened to it.

It almost felt like the GazettE had taken a deep look into my heart and managed to play back to me, a song with the exact emotion that I felt at the time.

Eventually, I looked up the track's translation in English and I was shocked to find out that this song, this song that I had known for years and sang along with so many times because I felt like it was for me, was EXACTLY as I had come to know it by, all I could say was " I can't believe it. I was right all these years...."

There are tracks that have no equal. Tracks that feel as if they were made for your ears only.

I'm very glad that you brought this up as i had almost forgotten why I even began to listen to Jrock in the first place.

  10. Nothing against their current music; they are surely one of the definitely better vk bands today. And in comparison to how they started, they have improved a lot. They have good songwriting, they can play their instruments, yomi can now sing... but the style they are doing today is just bland and unimpressive for me.

Face it. That's most of the J-Rock bands to this day. Most of their styles are just meh. With age they became a bit more sophisticated and focus less on their image.

Nightmare, Dir en Grey, sadie, Girugamesh, Screw, and don't even get me started with the GazettE....
