Finished watching 13 Reasons Why.
 
I have mixed feelings on this one. Yeah, I read the book back in 2009 or something and got excited finding out they were adapting it, it can easily work as a series. However there were several issues with it.
To start with, the main character. He's especially unlikable & plain. Like, I get it that he's just your average awkward kid, but he brought the show down until the last 2 episodes where the actor finally learned how to actually do something with the role. 
Secondly, the pacing was painfully slow. I think they needed to keep filling the show with unnecessary stuff to make into a standard length Netflix series, which ruined it imo. There was no need to fill the episodes with some lawsuit bullshit, no need to drag them out with teenagers bickering, not when the dialogue is so cringe worthy. So, I was just bored through scenes and scenes of Clay's face staring into nothing and people saying some cheesy line then walking off into nowhere. It'd have been way better if the story was more  focused...like the book. 
But the third point ties in with the second one, because they wanted to pump as much content into the story to fill it out they also wanted to use that content to make points which are trendy\relevant nowadays (rape, bullying obviously, objectifying women, male gaze, etc.) but some points are just pulled out of their ass in the last episode, leaving the good ones to the side.
 
 
That being said, I still enjoyed it. It's a story that's even more powerful when you can watch it and I'm surprised they did the abuse scenes very well without shying away at the horror of it, I did struggle to watch 3 scenes in particular which led to the story having an impact on me overall.

seconding Kara no Kyoukai(Garden of Sinners). that stuff is really good and i'd suggest not to give up after watching 1st movie unless you will completely hate it. when i rewatched these movies for 2nd time i liked this franchise even more. delicious stuff!
 
and one of my favorites - Gyakkyou Burai Kaiji. only japanese people can turn out such simple children's game as rock-paper-scissors into a thrilling gamble. though, the visuals may scare you at first but in fact they are quite unique and you'll easily get used to them. i myself even enjoy it tbh. 
 
also wanted to mention a few anime that aren't considered as dark/mature and are rather much more popular among teens, so due to this they might be overlooked by some people. but in my opinion to completely grasp all their layers you need to be an adult. such as Death Note, Code Geass, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood are really ought to be checked by everyone no matter what.

Started watching Black Mirror yesterday and right now I just can't get enough of it. Just three episodes left. I've always enjoyed the anthology format, and especially series which is just a bunch of short films, and not entire seasons. And this series is doing it really well, much like a modern-day The Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits. It'd diverse, with episodes covering different genres (drama, horror, thriller, black comedy), with different type of atmosphere and whatnot, but at the same time it's all conected through everything being sci-fi at the botton and thematically based around technology. Great satire all around, and overall very bleak and dark.
 
On it's worst (The Waldo Moment) it's really fun, at its best (Fifteen Million Merits, Be Right Back) it's absolutely mindblowing. And the rest of the episodes are much closer to Fifteen Million Merits and Be Right Back, than The Waldo Moment as far as quality goes. Says it all really.
 
Gotta point out that White Bear was fantastic. And please tell me I am not the only one who gets a folk-horror feeling of this one? At times it made me think of The Wicker Man, Kill List and so on. Did not expect that.

these are not demotapes, but re-release of their first 3 demotapes as live-limited singles. 
would be interesting if these will be re-recorded versions, tho in 99% cases i'd prefer crappy demotape quality.

finished 3rd season of How to Get Away with Murder and 6th season of Suits. i really wanted Suits to finish things up in this season, but nope, there'll be at least one more. don't see how can they make me interested in this show in 7th season. i hope there'll be no more of that robo-Donna bullshit, because that is a fucking drag. 
 
for HTGAWM on the other hand, i'm looking forward to 4th season. 3rd one was really intriguing and now i can say for sure that this show is better than its predecessor, Damages. glad they dropped out that shitty formula to shove sex scene down viewers throats whenever they had chance. i expect 4th season to be the last, if they plan to wrap things up nicely. but if they will manage to make some new interesting plot twist for a 5th one, then color me interested!

A legendary epoch for me personally, even as far as my life really, was the heyday of the chat. I think I started appearing there around late 2011 and up until late 2013.  Anyone who was there at the time knows exactly what I'm talking about and how special that thing was.  
 
At one point you could rest assured that someone would be there all the time, like Yasu or slsr or somebody else who seemed to be on the computer day and night. I pretty much spend as much time there as I could myself, and I when I left the house I had chat on mobile and when I got home I logged in with the computer! People who are new to this forum cannot even begin to imagine how many classic happenings took place there from those long running gags to all the fights like the big one that eventually sounded its death knell. 
 
I try to relate a couple of favorite stories that I remember off the top of my head. I try to be as brief as possible so that people will actually read all this lol
 
One fairly recent character was my boi Kahzooey Tunasama from Scandal Heaven, who upon introducing himself proclaimed that he was going to leave the forum in September of something. Then he kept post-poning his exit until he made the ill-fated thread 
 
He showed up to the chat a couple of times too, but wasn't all that enthralling a person. We did go trolling on scandal heaven one day, and I think at least Cat and sai took the literal piss. I haven't laughed that much too many times in my life. 
 
When raburr joined and dove-eyed and fuzzy tailed I hazed the fuck out of him in the chat. For the life of me I don't remember what he said, but I kept copypasting some nonsense supposedly under his name where he had said something to or about sai, and sai played along and pretended that what I wrote was legit. I'm surprised he even stayed after all that lolol great guy though. The ones I love I treat the worst.
 
Back in 2012 I had to go and practice dancing for my lovely lady at the upcoming prom, and being the age of the chat as it were I was pretty much in there every chance I got. Chat when I rode the tram; chat when I waited to hit the ballroom; chat when I was at mcdonalds afterwards and before ( true og's remember I was at Mcdonald's every day, a habit I continue to this day god bless ). On one fateful day Maiku had bought a book from Barnes & Noble or some shit and had manage to get the dumb glitter ornament from the cover into his eye, and now he was going about it in the chat as I was leaving home. When I was riding the tram he was there; when I was about to start and when I stopped ceased dancing, he was there; when I went to Mcdonald's for like an hour he was still there going on about the hazards of gold dust and any possible lawsuits he might be able to undertake against barnes and noble. This might have went on for hours and hours without a pause. We don't have that shop in Finland, but if they have went bankrupt unexpectedly in recent years, now you know why.
 
I'll write more as they come to me, and I hope some of the other OG chat members could contribute. This forum has been an instrumental part of my life ever since I joined, so like eight years. Over the years I've met like over ten yous irl as friends, enemies and even romantic liaison. I want to give a shoutout to all the original yellow name crew members. 
 
Also thank you especially to all the characters that sojourned in the chat back in the day. I'd like to thank everyone individually, and I even tried, but honestly there's just so many and it'd be a great injustice to honor one and omit the other.  Even those who were only there for a couple of times but contributed to the laughs either with their wit, stupidity or both.
