I still like "The Avoided Sun" most. It's the most consistent for me. GALLOWS actually isn't bad either. Although there are much more fillers, it has a great nagoya kei vibe among the "stronger songs ( the first few+ the last few)

Blends in well with the former discussion. Reminds me also of those VK fans who tried to justify their fandom by saying "those western rock bands all sound the same anyway".

Damn you people sure know how to make definitive statements based off of 10 second samples...

    "that went downhill"
    "Mediocre album"
    "DSS/Uroboros like"
"Going to be their best album"
"Going to be their worst album"
    etc etc etc...

I have enjoyed the majority of what I've heard, but in no way can I make any kind of definitive statement about how this album will turn out.
Like I said, I remain optimistic that this album will deliver.
However, might I be mistaken? Most definitely.

That's what they said about DSS.. you people are funny. That's 10 seconds of Dir en grey for you and you're all like OOHH S GONNA BE AWESOOME or OOH IT WILL SOOCK. People just never learn.

btw I still like DSS. I know that's like a sacrilege as a Dir en grey fan.

I discovered them from the japanese metal documentation (on youtube) and the distributed songs weren't that bad. They have definitely potential, didn't listen to their new stuff though.

Yet, they're not like DA BOMB of japanese metal. Infernal revulsion, defiled and GxSxD are like my biggest hopes of j. extreme metal right now. None can surpass Vomit remnants though..  nerdnerdnerdnerdnerdnerdnerd

Although I don't dig any of the albums, I'll have to go with music. It's way more various both in mood and composition. The thing about MUSIC was that the album essentially another girugämesh, just with a few more electronics added. Melancholic, aggressive and sad songs alike, I'd say that this album is amongst the most virtuous ones in giru's discography, and not only that, the compositions were good. No song sounded like the other, no melody felt overused.

Monster lacks in basically everything MUSIC is good at. Compositions feel lazy and repetitive, the vocal tracks are so predictable it's incredible.. and there's way too much electronics and autotune for my taste. So.. my vote goes for MUSIC.

..And yeah, I also think Reason of Crying is amongst their best outputs, if not THE best.

Favourite tracks on MUSIC: puzzle, イシュタル, asking why, お前に捧げる醜い声
Facourite tracks on MONSTER: MONSTER, VOLTAGE, Antlion Pit

I started out with flute, A-trumpet, trombone and keyboard. Ah yeah, and I mastered the triangle that time, too. Nowadays I'm more focused on playing drums and e-bass. I prefer to play drums in my band projects though, like right now. Bass is the coolest instrument to cool down at home.

Some ten years ago people really had to struggle to get a release. I remember wanting this rare rammstein single collection box for 200€, but eventually I never got it.

..Nowadays people are crying about not getting immediately what they want. And no, the "ignoring" part isn't much of a difference. No one is obliged to share anything, so if people ignore you, guess what. Shit happens.

I didn't take positions. I merely took your position and explained how this is a matter of opinion. If you view band's changes as "mature" and a "healthy" thing generally, then that's based on your point of view what "maturity" in music really is and why bands "have" to change in favor of health (unless their music is not "absolutely perfect" as you phrased it).

You represent the fairly common opinion that change is necessary and/or has to be accepted as a sign of maturity or development, take it as you like.

My UNPOPULAR OPINION was that I don't take positions in this issue and precisely, I don't promote the view that an artist's change generally has a "good" value of any sort, may it be maturity or development or the mere necessity of doing so. Simply for the fact that it doesn't prove a point other than your personal favor, which you ironically fabulously presented in your last 2 sentences.

This wasn't meant to be a discussion to elaborate your points of view, I only highlighted THAT your had this point of view. I don't use words like "maturity" in music.

I honestly can't decide between the 2nd and 3rd answer. I chose the 3rd one in the end, because that's the time of an overlapping of pre-existing bands (roughly since late 1990) having their greatest time, and a lot of good newer bands showing up. (not counting in these copy-paste neo vk bands like diaura, mejibray, screw etc...)

the time when girugamesh, an cafe, Dir en grey, Phantasmagoria, lynch, Deathgaze, D etc pp had their strongest outlets.

It's the total oposite for me. I consider Asagi's growls to be a bit weak and powerless, but I think he sounds more manly, powerful and way better than Angela Gossow.
